About this house rental
On this part of the Texas coast, you can drive your car, truck, or RV right onto 13 miles of sandy beach. From DolphinVista it's a 5 minute drive to the Surfside beach entrance or drive five more minutes to the 5 free beach entrance roads. More fun than renting a beachfront house because your car or truck carries all the gear - sun canopy, coolers, lounge chairs, toys, clothes, float tubes, towels, cots, boom box, dogs, barbeque grill, fishing poles, etc. Park near the sand dunes and set up your shaded camp just feet from the rolling surf. Put on the suntan lotion and ...build your sand castle, look for seashells, feed the seagulls, relax and enjoy!
Pack up and drive home for a relaxing evening in the quiet privacy of Dolphin Lane. No street parking like most rentals... the driveway holds 8 cars/RVs. Watch the sunset from the high deck or the dock along the canal. A rare resort house with two big skylights for moonlit nights and sunny days and palm trees and fishing dock plus all kinds of BIG yachts and ships sailing past. DolphinVista is located on a secluded cul-de-sac street between a private canal and the Texas Intracoastal Waterway. The canal has a new dock for fishing and launching kayaks with a ladder, so climbing in and out is easy.
Two outdoor grills for cooking in the shade while watching the local boats on the canal or the giant tugboat barges on the Intracoastal waterway. You have a 5 burner stainless steel propane grill AND a charcoal grill to cook all your favorite entrees. Enjoy Xfinity WiFi for high speed internet, gaming, and TV. Pets allowed with an extra fee (to pay for the extra cleaning after you leave). No smoking inside the house. You can relax with fishing and crabbing off the back dock. (Texas fishing license required if you are 18 or older.) Catch the sunset from the private back deck. Watch huge tug boats and yachts motor by from the front deck or in the shade underneath while relaxing on the two person hammock.
A long double wide concrete driveway allows RV parking plus 3 cars underneath the house out of the weather plus 4 more cars on the driveway. Galveston Island is 20 minutes along the beach road. Galveston Seawall restaurants are about 35 minutes away. This house has city of Freeport municipal water (not wells) and city sewers (no leaky septic tank) that meets all government standards.
The house is not the typical sandy beach cabin. Two skylights make you feel outside while sitting in air conditioned comfort. You can sleep under a skylight and enjoy the stars and moon. It is fully furnished and decorated; with all appliances except a dishwasher. We have clean city water, not the funny tasting private well water most beach houses use. Each bedroom and the living room has a TV . There is a full size futon in the living room that seats 4 and sleeps two. The house has two layers of siding plus new Pella double pane windows and patio door. This makes it very quiet inside when you shut all the doors and windows. Or open everything up and it feels like an giant umbrella at the shore. One bedroom has a Queen bed and the other bedroom has two twin beds. The futon in the living room folds down to a full size bed.
This is a no smoking home inside, but with lots of covered outside places to take a puff.
The neighborhood is very quiet because Dolphin Lane ends in a cul-de-sac one block away, so there's never any fast cars. The streets are very safe for biking, scooters, skateboards and walking. Mature tall palm trees rustle in the sea breeze while you relax on the front or rear deck. Each deck has a stairway. The neighborhood is mostly homeowners and is very quiet and private. The driveway is huge... you could park two 40ft motor homes side by side, plus a couple of cars.
The house has central air and heat and lots of screened windows for those cool spring and fall days. The prevailing sea breeze blows straight into the front door and out the back door and windows. The kitchen and the living room have vaulted ceilings; and each has a big skylight that makes it feel like you are outside with the sun moving across the room making it bright and cheery. The front deck has 6 chairs that won't blow away. Half the front deck has a roof for shade and the other half is great for private sunbathing or stargazing. The view of the Inter coastal Waterway from the front deck is entrancing when a big tug boat motors through or a fast deep-sea fishing boat skims by. The rear deck looks at palm trees, the sunset, and the canal. The neighbors have fishing boats docked in their back yard! The dock has a light for safety.
The owners Bruce and Debbie have run a Bed & Breakfast in Lake Jackson for years and the family does all the maintenance and cleaning and disinfecting. We do not use nomadic cleaning teams. We keep Dolphin Vista maintained and spiffy so you have fun, fun, fun! Check-in is 4:00 pm and checkout is 11:00 am. There is an electronic combination lock so you don't have to worry about losing the key or driving home with the key in your pocket.

Is a wonderful place and we are so great full to be a part of the stay, thank you so much.

Great neighborhood and quiet. The house was great. Loved looking at the canal and fishing.

The good of this property: Nice neighborhood, nice views, exterior fair, patio needs TLC, provides paddle boards, very kind neighbors
If you're cooking,(which I wouldn't here), bring your own dishes, very few provided.
The Bad was so disgusting my family left 1 night early. Couches are stained and smell foul. EVERY faucet inside and out leaks. Dead baby roaches throughout the house. We later see a live roach run across bath wall while my daughter is showering, later one ran across bathroom sink, and lastly what did the family in was when two run out from under the bed. DIRTY ROACHES, not TX tree roaches. After 1st sighting I went to the store bought cleaners and a mop. DEEP cleaned counters and floors and Lysol sprayed. I
also had to pre clean the kitchen wall by stove and fridge that were splattered with food/grease. After we saw the roaches all the food we brought we had to put in zip lock bags and in the refrigerator and our cooler.
Not all of the pictures in the post for this house are new pictures. Some are old and not what is seen in person.
The owner said they've never seen the roaches, well I have pictures. No refund for cleaning supplies or stay. We had to empty all of our things in our driveway, shake out and make sure we did not bring home souvenir roaches. I have before and after pictures. I left this home cleaner than when I arrived.

We had mixed feelings about our stay:
1) The inlet water had an oil-slick with green bubbles in it the first morning so we weren’t comfortable with paddleboarding, swimming or eating the fish. I don’t think there is much the owner can do about this, but it is something to keep in mind if you were hoping to catch lunch or dinner.
2) The whole place needs a deep clean and a refresh. It's a bit like they picked the cheapest possible things to put in the house and are skimping on everything with notes everywhere about what doesn't work properly. "The bathtub has been disabled". "The refrigerator won't cool down your drinks, but will work better if there's ice in the freezer (that you buy/bring)." Our ice cream thawed in the freezer.
3) When we arrived, we couldn't find a coffee pot and there were no sheets on the beds. We messaged the owner and ended up having a midnight phone to find the coffee pot (locked in a closet). She then explained that they don't put the sheets on the beds because "then you'll know the sheets on your bed have been cleaned."
Some positive notes: The owner is very responsive. The internet was fast and the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. The house is in a nice/safe/quiet neighborhood. The house was kept cool for us. There was a hammock in the shed downstairs, 1 charcoal grill + 1 gas, and fishing poles.
All in all, I enjoyed the stay – I just think there were some unexpected quirks that caught us off guard.

The property was pleasant and relaxing . Few minor glitches … not enough pots to cook in , refrigerator wasn’t cool enough, heating element wasn’t working on dryer . Other than that the place was very nice . Had a wonderful hammock , barbecue pit , kayaks, fishing poles. It was a very nice place to stay and it was a place that we created new memories with our family

Dolphin Vista is a comfortable cottage on silts. It has a delightful view of barge traffic on the Inter-coastal Waterway.
Parking is plentiful and the dock out back allows access to the canal out back.
The drive-on beach access (daily fee or annual fee) is five minutes away.
We got a annual pass for 12.00 and came and went as we pleased.

This house was in a very cute neighborhood and we felt very safe. Location was a short drive to the beach. Check in was easy, beds were comfortable. The decor was a dated and the shower head needed to be replaced. Overall it is a nice rental and would stay there again.

We really enjoyed our stay. The house was on a quiet dead end street right on the canal and in view of the shipping channel. We had a problem with a lock during our stay and the owner got right on it and fixed it on a Sunday morning. Two thumbs up to Debbie and Bruce!

Excellent Place
We really enjoyed our stay and had fun crabbing and fishing we did not catch but 3 crabs, and no fish I think it was due to the heat but we had so much fun trying and really enjoyed our stay. i would recommend anyone to try 91 Dolphin Ln in Freeport TX, The Property manager was exceptional and reply instantly.

This little Gem is so welcoming and perfect! Nice views from both decks, front is the inter-coastal and back is the canal. Great for fishing, kayaking and just relaxing! Very comfortable and room for us all. Thank you!

Awesome Stay!
We had a wonderful time staying at this property. It is close to the beach, a wildlife refuge, which everyone should check out and you could see ships coming and going from the front of the home. The bed was comfortable and it had amazing views from front of home and back. The only thing I would change is the chairs on the front deck are bolted down so you are limited to the layout you want if you are considering having your morning coffee out there. It does get pretty windy so completely understand why this was done and they do have additional chairs in the shed though which is a plus. They have a few restaurants close by and a bucees about five minutes away with a great breakfast selection!

Weekend getaway
Cute little house right off the intercoastal. We were able to fish and pull up behind the house in the boat to grab things we needed. Perfect house for a weekend getaway. Very organized and clean, owners were very nice and easy to contact. Would recommend!

Beautiful location, but ran into some problems
I'll start by saying the house itself is great - its in a beautiful location and was a great size for our group of 3. We had a great week fishing in the canal (albeit with no luck) and even left our crab pots behind so maybe future renters can use them! The location is very convenient to get to surfside, and lake jackson is close enough for quick grocery runs. The downside was the air conditioning.. there is a central air unit as well as window units in both bedrooms and the dining room, but the house is by no means cooled. It was so hot in the house (averaged 81-83 degrees) by around noon every day that we had to retreat to the bedrooms to try to cool off. We also had issues with using the television in one of the bedrooms - fortunately my kiddo brought his kindle. Overall it was a wonderful vacation, but we were so uncomfortably hot that I don't see us booking this house in the future.

Weekend getaway
Dolphin Vista was perfect for our birthday wknd getaway. Was comfortable, clean and perfect for our needs! The canals pretty shallow and we didn't have any luck fishing from dock but ate lots of great seafood and chartered a bay trip so it was a great time!

We arrived during the tail endof Hurricane Deltas rain. It was still a little windy but inside the house you would not know it. We got to fish that evening and we caught some fish. The neighborhood was very quiet with friendly people that would wave from a distance. The house was clean and had everything you need. We had a great relaxating long weekend.

Wonderful getaway
We loved the home. This was for my three year olds bday. I have a 9-10-12-3 yr olds. The home and facility was clean and had everything we needed. We had to dry the clothes three times and the bathtub didn’t fill due to the bath/shower switch for the water to come out of faucet was the only downfall. But no biggie due to us taking showers anyway. Would love to have had some fishing lights on the dock to shine into the water. But hey overall we have no complaints. We will most definitely stay again and Debbie was easy to contact and the kids had a wonderful time. Thank y’all for the use of your wonderful home in a prime location to surfside beach and stores as well as bait houses.

Quiet Getaway
The neighborhood is nice. We especially enjoyed the decks. There has been a house built between this one and the intercoastal waterway, but still a great view. Owners were informative and helpful.
