About this house rental
Our home is located on 11 acres of wooded land in a deep water cove on Lake Hartwell. My husband and I Iive here permanently in the big house.. We also have a guest house which we rent out via VRBO on a part time basis. This area around the houses is nicely landscaped and well maintained. Much of the other 11 acres is heavily wooded. Guests who come here will be renting the guest house. It is 1600 square feet of space consisting of 2 bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. The large master bath has 2 vanities and 2 sinks, a jacuzzi tub with jets, and a separate walk in shower with built in bench. The water closet has a door for privacy. The smaller bathroom has 1 sink and vanity, and a tub shower. It is connected to the smaller bedroom by a sliding door that can be locked to make it private to that bedroom only. Or it can be accessed via a 2nd door to the dining area. Maximum # of guests is 4 including children. The bathrooms, kitchen, and utility rooms are tiled. All other rooms are done in hardwood with area rugs. My husband has his workshop attached to the guest house on one side. There is a door that connects this workshop to the guest house via a door in the utility room. This door is kept locked and blocked at all times while guests are here. It is locked from the workshop side.
There is a key lock on the guest house side, but we do not provide them a key. We do have a security system in place which monitors the areas around the 2 homes. Cameras are situated showing the areas around the 4 corners of the 2 houses. The cameras are located above the garage doors, the 4 sides of both buildings to cover whatever is in their field of view. They are there for the protection of the grounds and the occupants. We also have in place several motion sensitive lights. Those lights come on whenever motion is detected. This might be a person or a deer. They are just courtesy lights. Probably the best courtesy is for a late arrival. And one is located above the back door of the guest house, their arriving door, and the other one is above the door on the shop on the yard side. This illuminates the yard that is shared by us and guests. The # address for the guest house is 150 and the # for the main house (ours) is 152 completely separate houses. The shared spaces are the yard, the walkway, the dock, and the lake..
Great rental. Cozy in the woods. Right on the lake.. Everything you need is right here.
Our home is in a rural area, so you may want to bring some food with you. If you are coming from the north and heading south on 85, you can get off at Exit 19 and head toward Anderson. Publix is the first big grocery store you will see and it is on the right. Just watch for the sign. If you are coming from the
south and heading north on 85, you can get off at exit 4 and turn towards Love's Truck Stop. Where the road Y's, go left onto Hwy.243 and then Hwy 24 right to Ingles or Food Lion The closest grocery stores to us are on Hwy 24 in Anderson. There is a Food Lion and an Ingles, one on either side of the road across from each other. Ingles address is 4396 SC-24 in Anderson and it is 9.7 miles from us.

The property is so pretty and well maintained! It’s next door to the owners but they were very friendly and respected our privacy! We even rented Pats boat for a day. It was a great experience and just the relaxing trip we needed.

We arrived in the evening and checked in easily and without problems. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The grounds and dock are beautiful. We enjoyed our visit and would like to come again.

We had a wonderful stay at Pat & Mary's lake home, such a peaceful & relaxing place! The grounds are beautiful and well maintained and the home was very clean and had everything (and more) that we needed to fix meals at home. The dock was amazing, we had a great time floating in the lake and relaxing and enjoying the tranquility from the upper level of the dock. Pat & Mary are very friendly, wonderful people and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful property with us!

This was the worst and most stressful stay in my life, and we travel every couple of months.
As soon as we got to the house the owners were there, started by telling us what not to do, said not to park by the house because they didn’t want our car block the workshop, that is connected to the house and is bigger than the house itself. They do not disclose the fact that their house it 5 feet to the left of the rental property and the workshop is connected to the rental on the right. They have been coming in 2-3 times a day without our permission. The biggest problem started when we tried to wash a blanket that smelled like body odor and the washer started to leak right away. They immediately accused us of breaking the washer and Mary said she was going to use my $3000 deposit to fix their 19 year old washer and clean up the workshop (that was not supposed to be there). She said she hasn’t washed the blankets in 15 years and never had a problem with other renters. I told her that was nasty and that is why it smelled so bad. Vrbo told me they had 2 more open cases from other renters and that them just being on the property was a violation of our privacy.
On the day of our departure, the owners brought a guy and 3 of them were watching us pack. Mary once again went inside the house at 8:30 am (checkout is at 11am). We drove off at 9 am and the guy they brought to watch us and intimidate us kept following us in his car for 2 miles.
Good luck if u are considering renting

What a pleasant stay we had. Nice, secluded property on lake hartwell with a dock, spacious home which was very clean, nicely appointed and well maintained. A bonus for us is that the property owners also had a home next door. Pat and Mary were wonderful hosts, very nice people and for anyone concerned about the property owners also living on the property, they respected your privacy.. I really enjoyed meeting and chatting with them. I definately recommend this property.

As a fairly independent disabled guest who rented the place on my birthday to do some fishing, my stay at this lake front home was tons of fun! Wheelchair accessibility on the property was very good. I had no major issues getting around in the house. The doors were wide enough for my chair and I was able to access all rooms. There’s a cemented pathway that leads to the dock and is fairly accessible if you have someone to help because it is quite steep. Pat and Mary were very welcoming and the communication was great. They allowed us to take non-motorized toys for the lake and we took the canoe for a very relaxing and fun morning fishing outing. We’ve caught fish! Highly recommended for disabled guests!

We loved our stay on Lake Hartwell! Our favorite part was the dock on the lake. It is convenient enough to other areas (within an hour) that had a lot of adventures. We took a few day trips to Mountains Rest for some great waterfall hikes and also to Tallulah Gorge and enjoyed some time on the lake in the afternoon and between adventures. The house is on a quiet cove of the lake. We enjoyed floating in the lake and sitting on the dock morning and night. A great place to relax. The house is very clean and well maintained. Pat and Mary are lovely hosts.

Pat and Mary were gracious hosts. You have privacy and seclusion if you want that. The dock was amazing to hangout on. I would go back in a heart beat.

We enjoyed the Master’s lake house. Pat and Mary are great hosts. I stayed with my wife and 3 grandkids (10,8,6). The kids loved the fishing and boating (we were able to rent the Master’s pontoon). We definitely plan on returning. My wife enjoyed her birthday weekend. We will definitely rent again.

Due to Hurricane Ian, I was only able to spend one night and the other memebres of my party were unable to attend. Accomodation meet all my needs. Since I was attending the Clemson game, I did not have an oppurtunity to enjoy the property. Planning a second trip the end of November.

This was our anniversary vacation it had everything we needed and wanted, and pat and Mary were wonderful

Pat and Mary were super easy to communicate with. The surrounding property is beautiful, quiet, peaceful. The dock is wonderful & our family enjoyed it greatly. The home is well-kept & very clean. While we did not spend much time in the house, I will note that the sofa’s are sectionals and every piece moves/comes apart. If you have children, be prepared for them to fall through at times. There was also a strong gas smell. We later learned the house is attached to a garage where small mechanic work is done, so it is likely the smell was coming from there. We were told to keep the laundry door shut & it will cut down on the smell. This did somewhat work, but it was still noticeable.
Why I cannot give this stay a 5-star rating is this:
The property is listed as private. It is not. It is a shared property with the owners. They are lovely, but the listing should state it is shared. There is not exclusive privacy.
On Saturday of our stay, we decided we would go to a different park of the lake with our boat. We were gone from around noon until 9pm.
When we returned, Mary was walking out of the shed/work garage that is attached to the rental house. She stated that she had been trying to call, email etc because she had not seen us all day. She then stated she went inside the house to check on us since she had not seen us. All problems. We are grown adults with two children. It was our vacation and we are allowed to come and go as we please. I also do not believe it is ever appropriate to walk in the rental property while it is currently still being rented. Ever. We had walked down to the dock so we could get the boat to take on over to the sailing club & myself and daughter drove over to the sailing club so we could go eat dinner away that evening. There’s very little reception/service in the area, which was completely fine by us because we needed to disconnect and get away. If there was concern for our safety (which is just concerning, because if they were concerned for not seeing us for a few hours, how much had they been watching?), call the proper authorities for a well-check. Even if you wanted to open the door of the rental property to “check,” once it was obvious we were just not present on the property, the door should’ve been shut & everything else left alone.
As a victim of sexual assault, this was horrifying to find out. I didn’t sleep at all that night and was so thankful it was our last night there.

Absolutely AMAZING!!!
The property is very well kept and deserves to be on the cover of Better Homes and Garden and/or Good Housekeeping. Upon entering the home, there was no question as to whether we would enjoy our visit.
We are from the Laurens, SC area. Let me tell you there is no need to look anywhere else for a place to fish from the dock or gaze upon the beautiful star-filled sky. The location was perfect as there were no other distractions to consider. We had access to the pedal boats but couldn't stop fishing long enough to use them!! Even after having our rod and reel snatched from the dock by a catfish, we not only caught a big mouth catfish but retrieved the rod and reel the next day. Who does that?!!
We will not only return for a repeat (minus the snatched rod and reel) but will bring friends and recommend to others just to meet OUR new-found friends, Pat and Mary!

We loved our time here. It was a very relaxing environment. The house was very clean and just as it is described. The dock was amazing. We hope to come back!

My family and I enjoyed one more weekend away before fall classes start. This was the perfect place. It was so close on the lake, the dock was amazing and the house was clean. Thank you Mary and Pat! Can’t wait to stay again!

Great communication with property owners. Very nice, friendly and helpful. Spotless home. Wonderful location. Dock is super nice.

Sweet lakeside cottage
If you are looking for a quiet respite, this is it. If you want a place to enjoy the water, this is it. If you value a clean, comfortable, spacious rental, this is it. Full kitchen, washer/dryer, gas grill, whirlpool tub, two story dock in a quiet cove. We brought our kayaks (and lifejackets) and had a wonderful time. Sweet hosts live next door.

Great location
We had a wonderful vacation, one week was just not long enough. Pat and Mary's guest house is exactly as described. We were just next door to them, but they were very unobtrusive. They made sure we had everything that we needed. The house is lovely, the dock is amazing, and the lake is absolutely beautiful. Thank you for your hospitality.

Plenty of room for our family. We enjoyed the dock and family room. Beautiful property and very well kept. The only thing I would’ve liked it have known is upon arrival the house smelled like fumes or exhaust which made being in the house uncomfortable. We went to open windows but notes were on windows alerting guests not to ventilate due to pollen season. I found it very distressing and almost unbearable to stay in the house due to the fumes and exhaust smell. I was not able to sleep the first night due to being worried about the fumes and just the smell alone. The house seems to be connected to a large maintenance garage.

Well manicured estate with a two story dock. The weather was warm enough at night to let the waves rock you to sleep while star gazing.
