Absolutely stunning property that feels remote but very easy to get to from Kyoto. Very clean and the onsen was so relaxing. Great amenities and the food was exceptional.

Ryokan Seryo was the definition of hospitality. The staff truly went out of their way to make us feel welcome and to get us settled in. They were accommodating to our schedule, even serving breakfast early for us so that we could make our train. It is such a beautiful and calming space, we felt so relaxed there. Dinner was delicious and we were so full by the end of it (same with breakfast). My only regret is not staying longer, it was a true highlight of our trip.

The meals were phenomenal. The grounds were stunning. The location was beautiful.
The hotspring tubs were divided by sex so husband and wife went separately.

Seryo was legit one of the most beautiful places I have ever been in my life. The drive there felt magical, the little town that it is in, its surrounded by beautiful temples and less busy than the chaos that was Kyoto ( I visited during Sakura season). The staff was so helpful.. We got there a little early and were just going to leave our bags then look around the town but they offered us tea and let us check in early. 'Manager' was kind and accommodating. The views were breath taking. I would 100% stay here again- only thing I would do differently is that this was my first time in Kyoto- so I traveled a lot and honestly this place and town deserves its own time to shine that I wish I would've spent more time enjoying the stay than running around to explore all of Kyoto.
Only thing to work on- which I am not sure is a big deal- I messaged a lot prior on bookings and got little to no responses. I told them to not worry about meals for two of the nights we were here and that my sister and I did not love fish- but I do not think it was relayed because we had to ask again and no one ever responded on bookings. That being said they were amazing and made us American breakfast (which is so embarrassing) but was SO delicious.

Japanese traditional room with modern amenities and great garden view. Love it. Surrounded by several temples.
I thought there was at least shower facility in the room, unfortunately there was only toilet with share public bath. I guess it's the traditional Japanese Ryokan spring bath setup. It's still not bad

A man who worked there who we assumed was the hotel manager was so kind to us. He explained dinner really well, helped us pick our sake and generally made us feel very welcome. He also gave us a shuttle down to the bus!
The dinner was unique, the baths were amazing (would recommend both an evening and early morning bath) - very peaceful and a nice change from the busy cities in Japan. Not too hard to get to either by train/bus.
Long walk up a big gravel hill to get to the property - something to be mindful of if you have issues with mobility!

Beautiful!! Stunning facilities, kind staff, and amazing food 😍 we loved this little mountain getaway where we were able to experience Japanese culture and hospitality. The outdoor Onsen bath was especially beautiful. Our only complaint was that the pillows were hard, I didn't mind, but my husband had trouble sleeping because of it. However, the staff gave us extra blankets and futon the second night and he was able to use one as a pillow and it was perfect! They were so helpful and welcoming.

An all-round incredible experience. From the moment we arrived we were met with friendly faces and impeccable service. The location is beautiful, the room was incredible & our private garden/spa made it even more special. The dinner and breakfast was especially good! Wish we booked 2 nights instead of one! Thank you for an amazing stay.
