The position and view is exceptional for an in town property and made staying there extra enjoyable and part of the vacation. At the same time it is right in Ambleside and so very convenient for walking to all the local amenities.
The purpose built apartment is clean, comfortable and well furnished to a high standard.
It is great to have a designated parking space, although as the parking is quite tight, a small to medium size car is essential - as advised. I did manage it with my Honda Civic.

Brilliant location for the village, a short walk away.
lovely views from the balcony.
Decoration was dated which was ok, given the price, but there was a hole in the duvet cover which really should be replaced.
Parking was tricky - we had a small hire car thankfully.

The view was lovely and access to the town via staircase was very convenient.
We could not quite figure out the heating system. Shower had good pressure.

Location balcony shower all good
No welcome pack or letter, damp issue, sofa

Comfortable well equipped apartment, with lovely views. Well located near the centre of Ambleside, ideal for exploring the town and using its shops, restaurants etc. Also central for walking the famous Lake District fells.

We had an enjoyable week at Todd Cragg View. The cottage is right in the heart of Ambleside but set up high above the High Street so not noisy. It's a steep climb up steps from the main road which provides an very quick short cut and worth the effort.
There were 2 adults, 1 teenager and 1 child in our group and the cottage was of a decent size. The conservatory was particularly useful for boots, coats and backpacks. The clothes airer was helpful as anything damp could be hung up and it warmed up nicely in there to dry things off.
The bedrooms were on the small side but fine and we all found the beds comfortable.
As with other reviewers, the property did have a strong smell of damp in the bedrooms which wasn't very nice. This is obviously a long term problem which will need to be resolved by the owners at some point.
We had trouble getting the TV to work but Sykes Cottages quickly sent a maintenance chap round who sorted it out for us.
Also as per other comments, the property is a little tired especially the kitchen, but ultimately you get what you pay for and all in all we felt it was value for money.

The location was great, the house was nice
Was asked to put rubbish, including recycling in red bag, but no red bag to be seen. Called Sykes, who manage the house, they said someone would bring one the next day, but we didn't receive it.

The views are amazing. Having a balcony and a sun room which both look out over Todd Crag and Loughrigg was great. The kitchen has everything you need. Tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits was a nice touch. Handy to be provided with tea towels and washing up liquid too. The fold out table was a clever use of the space.
It is a relatively small living room area so not ideal if you want to all hang out and have your own space. The double bedroom smells ever so slightly damp, mitigated by opening the window. Some people might find the bathroom fan being on constantly annoying. The directions to the property could be clearer.

The view from the balcony was breathtaking! The apartment was ideally situated to be able to walk into Ambleside. There was everything you could need for an enjoyable stay.
The single beds were not very comfortable, but that could just be personal preference. The sofa protector was grubby, but we just covered it with a throw from the bedroom.

It was self catering 👍
We needed parking for my son who came to visit , but we didn’t find a designated spot for him

Great location and the apartment was a great size for a family of four. It had everything we needed.
The bedrooms were damp and the parking was tight.

Great location. Walking distance to beautiful sights.

Amazing location. Fantastic views. Clean and well equipped.
It's not really big enough for three adults and a teenager to be comfortable.

Generally very good and good location for Ambleside
Property felt needed a slight refresh/upgrade. A little tired. Parking not the best

1. location was good, excellent views.
2. Thoughful hosts- well laid out instructions, had plenty flyers around
1. Car parking space could be better- we had difficulties and sometimes even had to bother the neighbours to park the car.
2. No dishwasher

Parking was a bit of a pain

We had a little trouble finding it - due to the storm our journey was disrupted and we arrived in the dark, in a hail storm, but the location is actually really convenient, pretty much on one floor (a few steps up to the bedrooms), and gives wonderful views over Ambleside and the fells, whilst being just a few minutes walk from the centre.
Hard to think of anything.

The property was homely, and perfect for a short holiday, and the location was fantastic

The apartment was in a great location for walking into the centre of Ambleside and for walking up the fells. It was cosy, warm, very clean and well equipped. The view from the lounge and balcony was spectacular, especially with all the Christmas lights.
The weather!!

amazing wiev from balcone. close to town centr. nice place nice cottage.

location was fabulous with views of loughrig fell and the town below, a short walk brought you into town and the bars and restaurants which were just the ticket after a long days walking.
strangely received dishwasher tablets as part of the welcome pack and You could do with a new can opener and the corkscrew was bent, the parking was a challenge (as always in Ambleside), the cover on the sofa kept falling down. Other than that the apartment was well presented and welcoming and had all the comforts of home.

The location was very convenient for the town. The view was fantastic whatever the weather. Due to the weather we only got to sit out on the balcony once but I am guessing it is really nice in good weather.
Shame about the smell of damp in the bedrooms although the air fresheners did help. The heating didn’t come on by itself even when temperature went done to 15 however the extra hour button did switch it on. Couldn’t use the wok on the cooker as it wobbled about too much not sure it is suitable for a gas hob. Shame the car parking didn’t accommodate our car (Audi A4) however we parked in the public car park down the road with no problems.

Super views from the lounge and kitchen. A treat to stay here. Just a short walk to the main street shops, but very quiet. Beds were very comfortable.
Parking was tricky, suggest you practice your tight parallel parking technique! After long walks up Lakeland mountains, we craved a hot bath (although the shower was great, missed soaking aching muscles in a bath!).
Sofa was a bit small for 4 people watching tv together. But these are very minor points, it's a really great place to stay!
