i sleep on my side, so need a soft mattress that still supports my spine and a shaped pillow with good neck support, while my friend is very tall and likes a hard bed with a soft pillow. We both found beds and pillows that suited us perfectly and we both slept very soundly, (as long as we kept the windows closed.). The living room is South west facing and very pleasant, catching the sunset. The staircase was sturdy and there are two toilets, one in the bathroom itself and a separate one alongside it on the same floor. As we enjoy doing jigsaws, we were grateful for the dining table in the living room. The place is well equipped, with a parking space by the front door. A very good fish restaurant is a convenient walking distance from the property, and luckily not so close that one can smell their cooking.
I cannot imagine being able to sleep comfortably upstairs under the roof in the summer without opening the windows as it gets warm up there. It was very cosy upstairs once the weather turned colder, however earlier when the weather was warm we found it a challenge to sleep undisturbed at night with the windows open as there are no insect/mosquito screens, despite being located right beside the dyke / ditches where they breed. There is also nothing to hang a mosquito net from above the beds upstairs either, which was disappointing. Luckily the weather was not too hot, so we could sleep comfortably with the windows closed.
The kitchen door opens into the kitchen right beside the fridge, colliding with the fridge door when this is open. A sliding door or one with a transparent panel allowing one to see into the room would be an improvement. The extractor over the hob circulates the air through a filter rather than extracting it outside, so one needs to open the window when cooking. The capacity of the fridge is limited, and to access the space at the bottom for vegetables, one must first remove the glass shelf above it and everything on top of it, hence the door situation was rather tiresome when preparing meals.
Restaurants close early in the area. Dining starts around 6pm and restaurants close by 9pm.
