Comfortable, convenient, and the food was delicious!

The room was larger than I expected and very comfortable. I had everything I needed and the staff were very helpful.

Very pleased that I chose this hotel. I will happily stay there again.

An old and characterful building close to the Castle. Spacious , clean room. Great welcome from reception staff. very nice and reasonably priced evening meal.

Another very pleasant visit with the bonus of a room upgrade

I’ve stayed here previously. Love the location, the long history of the building assisted by wall mounted facts in most corners, the food and the staff. Plus on this occasion I received a fab room upgrade! x

Do you know, there really isn’t anything comes to mind. The staff have the place running super smoothly and the room/facilities were lovely

Spot on

Nice facilities,good bar and amenities. Close to the Castle car park and the town for the shops.

I did not like the fact we were on the top floor as i have AF. If we stay there again i would hope to have a room lower down.

Dirty, old and misleading

They gave us the breakfast for free to 'balance' out the mess... That's why I am giving it a 2 instead of 1.

What a trip... It all started with us getting a room that looked nothing like the one I had booked. I had chosen the room because it had a bath so I could use it with my baby, but this one had a shower. Not only they didn't change the room, I only got a very mild apology. The room was anyway DISGUSTING. Old and dirty carpet, stains in the wall, dusty surfaces, stains on the desk, mold on the shower seals, chipped mirrors, super old TV, super old bed, coffee given in a big tube (yes, very environmentally friendly, but how do I know how long has it been standing there and what previous guests have done with it). The baby cot we asked for in advance was dirty and it didn't have a sheet but a duvet and a pillow ?!?!? (Have they heard about safe sleeping?) These are the things to name from the top of my head... Apart the room was in a third floor with no lift. For the price we paid I definitely didn't expect this... Totally and utterly disappointed and dissatisfied

Charming historic hotel in great location

Charming historic hotel with very nice pub/restaurant. The rooms are cosy and comfortable, the food is delicious and the staff is very nice and helpful. The location is also very central and close to all that you would want to see.

Great for our short winter break . Great facilities and fair price.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Warm and homely bar. Good location near centre of the town. Large bed and comfy, quality bed sheets and covers. Coffee and tea facilities in the room were appreciated. Arrived by train so didn't need car parking but staff gave plenty of information in advance for travellers who needed parking.

The location.

Not getting any sleep because of the noisy guests next door and then this being dismissed as nothing when I checked out. Was told I would be contacted by the manager today - this has not happened.

Great location with good food, let down by attention to detail in housekeeping.

fantastic location with lots of history.

The housekeeping needs to be improved. Cobwebs in the bedroom, toilet dirty with dirty marks in the bathroom 😳. Had to update the TV before we could watch any channels, no mention of how to access the Wi-Fi or if there was any Wi-Fi.

The heating wa set to go to 23 degrees, lowered it but it wouldn't stay down, so too hot .

Very good

I loved the character, the rooms were nice and modern, we had a small double but was perfect for us. loved the fact we had hot choc too aswell as tea/coffee. staff helpful and friendly.

I wish we would have booked direct with the hotel to have received breakfast but that wasn’t anybody’s fault I should have looked into it.
