Fantastic value, great location!

Fantastic friendly staff. Spotlessly clean room and bathroom. A nice surprise that a continental breakfast was also included in the price. Free parking on site and a few minues walk to the town centre.

Room was a little hot, had to sleep with the window open.

Hidden Gem. Best value for money hotel I have used for a while.

From the moment I arrived, the host was excellent. I was met at the door, keys and the late entrance (after 10pm) was clearly examined and I was shown to my room. While the room was simple, the bed was fabulously comfortable and the room had the facilities you would expect. For £70, including a plentiful continental breakfast this was superb value for money. I rang other hotels in the area and they cost far more. Hill Lodge is a hidden gem. I will definitely be returning.

very good...would stay there again.

We stay at Hill Lodge when we visit a friend in Sudbury. This time we had room number 4 which was quite comfortable. Tea/Coffee facilties were available although only 3 teabags were left with just 3 sugars....probably an oversite. good shower and toilet facilities. We didn't have the breaksft as we wanted a full English and that wasn't available so we had it earlier. Parking is good althoug if ever it was full, I'm not sure what else wouldbe available.

Coming out of the shower you have to decend 2 quite high steps. A hand rail is definately needed as it would be very easy for an elderly person to fall.

Good value for money, especially as the continental breakfast was included

It is only a continental breakfast, but what was on offer was good.

We had a superior double room but the view from the windows was the top of the flat roof, which did show that attention was required to skylights and window frames, it would have been nice to look out onto a garden, or at least the the ground level.

Situated close to town, with everything within walking distance. Bonus continental breakfast that I wasn't expecting. Room was nice and spacious.

The shower wasn't up to much, run off a mixer tap and was hard to get temperature right with a really small shower head.

Very positive experience.

The warm welcome. The stylish, comfortable and very clean room. The reliable hot water. Friendly and helpful staff. Very convenient position for visiting the town.

The breakfast fruit supply could have been better, and a bit of cheese or a hardboiled egg would have been welcome, but the BnB deal was on the whole quite good value for money.

Comfortable and welcoming

Comfortable, quiet rooms; good showers, comfortable beds with summer duvet (in July) all very clean and fresh. "No meal option" advertised but we were invited to help ourselves to continental breakfast FoC! That was a lovely surprise. Friendly helpful staff. No hesitation to return if i need accommodation in Sudbury again. Thank you!

Excellent value for money

Very clean and very welcoming. Thoughtful provision for one guest who was gluten intolerant. Excellent value for money with a good continental breakfast.

OK for a short stay.

Cornflakes etc, croissants, yoghurt, toast, tea/coffee....no full English or anything like it.

More food available at breakfast For whatever reason we couldn't get a cab at 6 o'clock on a Friday evening. Tried around 5/6 cab companies to no avail.

Great value and a great spot. You get what you pay for in terms of facilities but super clean

Very small but very clean room. The bed and pillows were so comfy and the beds and towels changed every day. Had a lovely en-suite in room 7 but my sister had a nicer bedroom but her wet room was not as nice in her room 1. This is a very cheap and cheerful hotel. It’s spotless and well worth the money. Breakfast is continental which was a bonus as we expected nothing. The Ritz it isn’t but then again it wasn’t Ritz prices! So close to everything. Great value for money.

The outside light kept going off as people came in and the room was hot but should have asked for a fan so that’s my fault

Staff were exceptionally thoughtful and could not do enough to make your stay a good experience. Parking was easy, location was walking distance to the town centre and not far to drive to see the best of constable country.

I like a firmer mattress.

A very friendly place to stay

I stayed here with my sister as we were going to a friends evening wedding reception at Smeetham Hall Barn. It was the perfect location as was only 10 minutes away. We had a very friendly welcome and we were very pleased with our room. The beds were really comfortable and we both a great night's sleep. The breakfast was a help yourself continental breakfast which has plenty of choice and the dining room was large and bright. We certainly had no complaints and we both said we would be very happy to stay here again.

The only downside for me was the shower was very hot and I couldn't work out how to change the temperature as being short sighted I couldn't see properly but that is not anyone's fault! I couldn't really fault anything at all.
