The location is excellent, could easily have been a Hollywood film location. Perfect!
The bathroom door was broken. Clearly after previous occupants but not repaired.
Dinner choice was poor. Everything thing we wanted had “run out”! Mashed potatoes!!!!!!
Alternative was a bowl of chips swimming in gravy with a few overcooked chicken slices on top. I could have done better!!!
Oh and toilet roll holder in room was hanging off the wall!

The view and the staff
The bed was too small and uncomfortable, the choice of food on the menu was very limited and very much a pub food menu! The prices were also high, but then again, you pay for where you are! There was no loo brush in the toilet, no proper soap to wash hands either (we brought our own). The toilet paper is very thin (again, we brought our own). The toilet roll holder is hanging onto the wall! No beer choices anymore. That was a great shame. The building looks very, very tired, it could do with a good painting. The access to the rooms is not great, but we had been before so knew about it. Its the little things that make the difference, the balcony on our room was not the strongest, so didn't really venture onto it, that also needs a good painting and the windows could do with a good clean. If I had the option, I would change the balcony for a Juliet balcony with safety glass across it, and then the view sitting down would still be spectacular. Breakfast is NOT included in the cost of the room. Although we did have one breakfast there, it again was limited on choice. We were surprised there were no more fish choices on the main menu!

Comfort of our room
Unfortunately they had run out of a lot of dishes on the menu on a Monday night

Location of bar was excellent. Lovely room.
Staffing and food at breakfast were very poor. We told the staff that if wasn't acceptable and also emailed the manager but got no response.

The staff are all really friendly, easy check in and out. The location is amazing and we had the balcony room so we can have the doors open at night to hear the sea! The room is big and warm
Personally the bed for me is a little uncomfortable but I have back problems but my partner thought it was really comfy.

Amazing little place, warm & welcoming. Perfect location & clean rooms.
The parking isn’t ideal but they make the best of what’s available and accommodate you. The food wasn’t great on the last night but having said that it was ok on the first night. Mix up and delays with Breakfast when only 4 of us in the restaurant, so was disappointed when the sausages weren’t freshly cooked. They had been reheated.
No hot water for almost 24 hours, but the staff kept us updated. This didn’t affect our stay as the place itself and staff were lovely.

Location really good
Menu very poor for non meat eaters, had to eat out, which meant getting in the car and travelling for miles

Fantastic location, lovely and quiet, only the sound of the waves. Room was clean, comfortable with a great view. Bed was really comfortable and food good.
Booking was room only, would have liked an option for B&B. Would be handy to have more parking, however this is something the Ship Inn has no influence over

Location... View... Cleanliness...
Absolutely freezing... Heating broken in our room but seemed to be working everywhere else... Having to go downstairs to report it six times and physicaly having to touch lady in charge to show how cold I was whilst wearing 3 polo neck Jumpers waistcoat and jacket 2 pairs of socks... Dithering... Finally brought 2 Heaters in room which 1 control knob was broken 2 together only gave off heat of candle.. If husband hadn't had drink we would have gone home so had to stay overnight... Lady in charge apologised saying heating had been playing up for couple of weeks but we couldn't understand how it only seemed to be our room... We paid £275 for 3 nights stay and refunded £185 for nyts we didn't stay.. But we feel it took far too long for anyone to come to the room and see how unbearably cold it was and left us feeling our money had been paid and we didn't matter 😒 I suffer with I'll health and ended up spending 2 days in Bed on arriving home 😢 00

Had a lovely few days away on a much needed break at the end of Christmas / New Year. Have been going to Ship Inn for a good few years and have seen it change through the different people who have run it. It was lovely to see that it's picked up quite a bit since I last stayed in 2014!! Rooms have been renovated and are much more modern but still sympathtic to the building. Bar and restirant area looks fresh and the conservatory area was lovely. Love the location of the Ship, right on the beach, and was fantastic to be able to bring both the dogs who were warmly welcomed by staff and others.
Wait times for food (breakfast mainly) were a little long, but it was end of the Christmas period / New Year and it was obvious that staff were busy, especially on the Saturday when they were prepping for the New Years eve festivities, and then New Years day Sunday lunch.

The location just above the beach is superb, even better if you have (as we did) one of the two rooms with a balcony. The view is really exceptional and the beach itself simply wonderful. The room is modern and well-equipped. We were there during the record heat period but there was even a large fan to help cope with that. The bar/restaurant offers a very good choice of excellent food and there are plenty of tables out the front for great views of sunset during dinner. The staff are first-class, from Julie who looked after the room, to Hayley who looked after us with the right mixture of friendliness and professionalism in the restaurant (her former hospitality trainer role shone through), to Frazer in admin and Holly the manager, whose "baby" this place very much is: her love, care and management skill are evident.
The only tiny negative was a very sensitive shower, which went from freezing to boiling in about a millimetre's adjustment! Not a negative, but note that access is either via a narrow internal staircase (closed at night) or via an external fire escape, which is a very useful independent lockable access, but both may be difficult for someone with restricted mobility.

A really enjoyable visit. Arrived on the Sunday afternoon and had booked a lunch which was excellent.Breakfast again in the morning was very very good with choice other than a full breakfast. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Location was stunning overlooking the sea, with the double balcony doors to open and hear the waves. Pleasant walk to next cove. Would recommend and visit again.
