Location of the hotel is impossible to beat. It is directly at the bank of Rhein, so the first thing you will see in the morning is the mighty river. Place itself is truly authentic. The old interior has been preserved and made comfortable for guests. Restaurant is excellent and offers plenty of local specialities.

Breakfast was so delicious and good. I want to eat it again.
The room was smaller than the picture and the bed mattress was uncomfortable. The insect screen was torn.

Nice view of the Rhine from the terrace
The room was very hot on arrival with no air conditioning, and could hear the traffic noise and local construction.
On arrival we wanted a drink on the terrace overlooking the Rhine we managed to get a beer from the only member of staff who was run off her feet, once we had our drink we were asked to leave as she had to make up the tables for the evening it was only 5pm and there was nowhere else to sit other than our stuffy room, a shame as would have been quite pleasant sitting by the river for a while. I think the whole hotel felt understaffed.
Breakfast was mediocre as the rolls were like the ones you have on an airplane and not a great selection to choose from.

Tranquil setting right on the river bank, fabulous views out over the Rheine. Staff attentive without being intrusive. The little touches such as the sun cream and bug spray on each well spaced table , it is on top of the river, were excellent. The restaurant was fantastic; a really worthwhile and enjoyable dining experience, tasty and exciting cuisine leaving one satisfied and happy. Breakfast was excellent, a fine selection of bread, cold cuts, fruit, yoghurt, cereals, fruit juices and hot drinks with hot food cooked to order. Good sized and comfortable rooms and bathrooms. Thoroughly recommended.
Nothing.

Lovely old building and great location. View restaurant straight onto river. Comfortable bed and great breakfast....once it arrived.
Check in was a disaster. No record of our booking and kept us waiting for more than 30 minutes despite the fact that there were plenty of rooms available. We said we wanted breakfast at 9 but arrived at around 10 to. Nothing was ready and we were not served until after 9. The staff were all lovely but seemed quite overwhelmed and disorganised. The restaurant is beautiful and very gourmet with prices which reflect this.

Very nice historical building, comfortable and clean room, kind and professional people. The location is amazing, right on the Rhine river, form the dining room there is an amazing view.
Very good restaurant inside the hotel, convinient for travelers also thanks to the free private car park.

Food was very good
Bed protection made you very hot

There was a building where we were able to store our bicycle. If you are cycling there is a bike stand with tools and a pump over the road from the hotel next to the bus stop. The location of the hotel is excellent being situated next to the Rhine. It has lost of character and the food is excellent. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful.
One of the waiters could have been more helpful explaining the German menu to us.

Little pricing for dinner

Location was incredible, as was the architecture. One of the most memorable hotels we've ever stayed in.
Restaurant was closed on Mondays - when we stayed - as was the bar. Very odd for somewhere located where there are few other facilities. Grumpy reaction when we asked if they could serve us a beer.

Lovely setting on the banks of the Rhine. The outside patio seating was perfect for pre-dinner drinks in the summer. The hotel had adequate parking for our motorcycles but were exposed as no sheltered parking available.

The location was sensational (on the banks of the Rhine). The breakfast was consistent and very good. The food, in general, is very good here. The internet connection is very good. The staff were very kind.

Large, traditional-style rooms with good bathroom facilities. Large, comfortable bed.
We asked to book into the restaurant on arrival but were told it was fully booked. I would have expected the hotel to have contacted me on booking, to check that we wanted to eat in the hotel, given there are no other options in the vicinity. The hotel did offer to book another restaurant for us, a 20-minute drive away.

Beautiful building, quiet location on the river (wonderful for breakfast), fantastic breakfast. Location is ok if you are with a car or bicycle, could be inconvenient without.
The room hadn't seen a duster in months, Staff is friendly but so busy that it's hard to catch them, A bit overpriced for what you get.

Very impressive traditional architecture, beautiful
A bit old and bugs inside

Beautiful setting and ancient property with many original beams etc retained whilst having modern bathroom. Lovely view of the river from our room. Lovely outside terrace. Excellent breakfast - very generous mix of hot and cold.
Would have been nice to have somewhere to have a drink outside late afternoon but terrace was closed to set up for dinner.
