Hotel head of attendant was so helpful to book tours, introduced trips, got taxi and even helped to arranged air tickets

The location is very convenient for restaurants, taxi and West lake.

The room temperature was 25C and unable to turn down the temperature. It’s too hot at night and sweating.

Disappointed that AC to our room is turned off without our control nightly, even after asking to keep it on.

Great location, clean rooms, great tea inside room

Stayed June 15-18. Terribly dissatisfied and disappointed with the air conditioning being automatically cut off by the hotel each night. We woke up drenched in sweat with no air movement in our room at all. The temperature was stagnant and not reaching the setpoint because the control was no longer from the room. We asked the front desk why this was happening, they told us the AC gets turned off nightly!? We instructed them to please not turn it off in our room in the night. Again we woke up drenched in the early morning, called the front desk and they immediately turned the AC back on in our room and gave control to us of the unit in our room. Temperature control of a room is an amenity listed, and should be a given for Sofitel hotels. Extremely disappointed in this bizarre practice. Disrupted our sleep and rest on vacation. Do not recommend to stay there unless you are accustomed to sleeping without air conditioning .

Convenient location, within walking distance to the metro line. Many eateries around. Staff were very helpful and in particular service staff at the breakfast restaurant, they were very polite and can see that they worked very hard during the busy hours - good job! 💪

Smoking coming through the air vent in the middle of the night and it was so bad cos it woke me up. I tried to ignore it and continue sleeping but the smell was really unbearable. So I was moved to another room and this was really inconvenient 😞 I have heard similar reviews before my stay and wondered if the hotel can do something about it, implement some very strict rules and enforcing them?!??

A bit underwhelmed.

Staff are courteous. Location near West Lake. Roof top viewing was good.

Building was nice. Location not near metro stations, and walking from metro to hotel involved going down/up stairs and tunnels. Okay if you are going by taxi/car. The air conditioning was not working during our stay. A bit overpriced even when compared to Shanghai City centre hotels

Nice and comfy.

Good location, clean room.

There’s strong cigarettes smell get into my room around midnight and we can’t sleep so the hotel offer another room to move. Even it’s prohibited to smoke in the room, he can’t find where the source of the smell. My bad luck.

Good location and nice view from the rooftop

Great location, right next to the West Lake. Rooftop terrace amazing, even though there was no service there at that time. Staff was helpful and friendly.

When we arrived we had to request the staff to change our towels and bedsheets for the baby bed, as some marks here and there; what they did quite fast. One guy lighting up a cigarette and smoking in the restaurant one evening, and the next day one guy smoking in front of our room, then in the toilets downstairs next to the bar. Not really the staff’s fault here, however, they need to react quick, be stricter in implementing the rules, and probably get specific detector system. Well, for the one in the room area, the guy was smoking under what looked like a smoke detector, but nothing happened.

A comfortable room for a good rest after a long day of sightseeing

Excellent location which is right next to the famous West Lake. It is also very convenient for visits to other tourist destinations. Accommodation is very comfortable and affordable.

Some rooms have no views. This was not a problem for me. Choose the room type carefully when making the booking if one wants to have lake view

Second stay at this fabulous hotel

Very close to West Lake and comfortable bed and shower, but quite dirty and outdated for the price.

The bed is extremely comfortable and shower is a huge, amazing rain shower. Breakfast was typical western/ Chinese buffet.

The rooms and halls were quite dirty. When you walk down the hallways you can see dust around all the ceilings and fixtures. The carpet makes the rooms a bit musty and we found 2 beetles in our room on our first night.
