The location was great. Very central to different day trips around Barco de Avila
Expectations for a 4 star hotel were a lot higher. The grounds were unkempt, there was garbage from a recent (?) party the 3 days we were there and it is obvious that the rooms need upgrading / fixing ( windows, bed, hot water)

Excellent value for money.

Beautiful location, good breakfast
the rooms are bit outdated

Recomendable en general. Lo mejor el emplazamiento en plena naturaleza.
5.0
Location, views.
The mattress is very hard and quite uncomfortable.
Cold bathroom (they only switch on the heating in the bathroom for one hour at 7 am., which is not the best idea in February...
You can hear all noise from the neighbour rooms, not the best place to rest.

Location
Restaurant is gloomy, no windows, old fashioned decor, food not worth the price, not much menu choice.

The Hotel is divided into 3 (at least) buildings: Main one with the reception, bar, restaurant and Suites; another with "small houses" living room with fireplace plus room on an upper floor; and a last one with typical rooms (where we stayed). The room was well heated and was quiet. The meal we had at the restaurant was exceptionally good and the price was fair. The staff was all 5 stars. The Hotel is just outside the town and has a nice view of the mountains - pack some hiking equipment and a camera, you won't regret it.
The Hotel arrangement per building means that unless you stay in the main one, you'll have to get outside and walk a few meters to do whatever you need, i.e. eat at the Restaurant. That's not a big issue if the weather is nice. Take that into consideration.
The SPA and pool remained closed due to the unknown virus of unknown origin... The Hotel, on the website, only mentioned the SPA being closed. Why it remains closed? Don't know.
The bar serves no food and there aren't many places to have dinner at the town. We dined at the hotel when we arrived but on the remaining days we had to eat at local bars their "pinchos" - check Bar Siete at the main square. :)
The Hotel is in need of some love and care from its owners.

Breakfast and dinner were amazing. Breakfast if itis not included in your room costs 10E/person and dinner you can choose from a variety of dishes (risotto, meat, cod, octopus,...and some desserts). The quantity of food and quality are really good (23E of meat was almost 1kg). The hotel gives for free some appetizers (small glass of vegetable cream soup and bags of fried onnions).
Breakfast options: fruit, coffee, chocolate, yoghurt, toasts, juices, cold meat, tomato, oil, cereals,...)
Staff is very friendful and helpful. Views from the hotel are incredible.
Heating in the room was good. Hydromassage bathtube was good. Accesories provided by the hotel (razer, toothbrush and bath gel).
Room and bed were big!
Breakfast is from 08:30AM to 10AM and dinner from 20:30 to 22h (a bit late, it would be nice to 8 to 10).
In the dinner you need to add the taxes (about 4E extra) and bread (about 4E).

beautiful location and a nice old building.
the decor is dated and looks like it was selected by 12 random people who never met each other.
We stayed in a suite which in theory is their nicest room but it was equivalent to a three star in terms of comfort and style.
the food was satisfactory without being special, the kind of food you would get from a roadside restaurant.
we went to the spa which has rusted out windows, black mild forming on the wooden roof and in the swimming pool area was an infestation of at least 200 flies. (really)
the staff were nice and helpful, the setting is beautiful but it looks like it had its best days a decade or two ago.
great marketing though, the pictures sold it for us.

Comfortable, tranquil, beautiful setting and high standards of building and fittings. Friendly staff
Pool and sauna and jacuzzi was to be paid separate, it was not clear on booking.com that price was for room only. Or that pool would be room temperature in october.
Water cut on last day so had to travel home 12 hours without a shower and could not use the toilet.
No discount given. In the UK I think something complimentary would be offered, perhaps a breakfast or a drink.
