Quaint
The cottages. No plug beside bed to charge my phone.
3.9
A wonderful country house-like place that was quiet and pleasant. The facilities, including the bar were very good and I did like the old-fashioned lounge
Breakfast only started at 8.00am, which I was not expecting as I had an early start. The breakfast was acceptable but no more
3.9
Lovely setting, room pleasantly decorated and all expected amenities were available, staff very friendly - especially in dining room for breakfast.
3.9
Striking scenery, very well kept, amazing staff, great facilities, swift check-in and check-out, great affordability.
The window mechanism was fiddly and awkward to operate, they were quite jammed. Slightly lacking in the toiletries department.
3.9
It was full of personality and was very warm on a particularly cold stay in Donington. Loved the shower, the food was incredible and the location to the track was brilliant! They also catered to my request to do a little something for my husbands 30th which was so so lovely!
The bed was springs which is incredibly uncomfortable and almost unsafe the amount of times I almost fell out when rolling over. It was also a bit damp in places and not quite kept as nice as it could have been.

Interesting location. Away from everywhere down by the River
It felt tired. Needed a facelift…and we were put in Cottages away from main Building - even worse. Felt damp….and there was a Power Cut, no electricity whatsoever and we weren’t even offered a cup of tea or coffee before leaving. Really poor Service.

Everything
Beautiful setting and the weather was perfect to sit and eat outside
Nothing to dislike

Nice location and the main hotel area and lounge area were fine ok, not great but ok. Staff were pretty friendly. Breakfast was about what you would expect for a large service.
We stayed in the 'cottages'. They were very poor and very tired, looked like they had last been updated over 20 years ago, fittings were odd and very old, no tea making facilities which is pretty much unacceptable these days, water in the shower kept going off, then on, then off, only one big towel in a twin room. Just a bit rubbish. Wish we'd stayed in a Premier Inn, which was about the same price.

Perfect location and Cottage was great fir our dog

Remote, quiet location but very convenient for airport and donnington race circuit

The location was very good with beautiful views of the river. The staff were friendly, and the service was good. The room was comfortable.
The property, in particular the access path to the rooms in the cottages needs better maintenance and cleaning.

breakfast was very good room was ok
nothing it was just great

Great location, a lovely setting and perfect for Donington circuit.
No fridge in room.

Loverly surroundings. Pleasant staff. Clean rooms and great service.

A lovely place to stay especially for the circuit, evening meal was exceptional all 5 in the party mentioned the quality of the evening meal, the breakfast was also top notch, bar prices where very expensive £27 for 3 pints a bottle of 0% lager and a lime and soda I think I may have been overcharged somewhat.
A few issues with the hot water ie there was none but compensated, the rooms have A/C and bathroom fans but none of them work which is a bit bad but still 9/10 for the food and location.
We survived and I am sure it will be all fixed for the next time we stay there.
No hot water, no bathroom fan, no bathroom window, A/C in the room but not working.

It was all pretty good: worth coming back for/
Nothing really.

We had a cottage room which was spacious and quiet. The room had a bath with shower over with very hot water. The bed was a little uncomfortable due to bed springs being very near the surface.
Evening meals were fantastic with plenty of choice together with a good choice of wines.
Breakfast was very good, again with plenty of choice.
Bed springs were a little uncomfortable and the table for dinner was not very clean as everything stuck to it.

Location, room size and quality.
Nothing to dislike.

the location
the room 43 double glazing wooden frames draughty and let noise room above extraction for kitchen going all night evening meal starter had to be sent back because cold , steak was good but over prized and served on cold plates , restaurant was cold no heating on , staff were ok but breakfast staff little greeting or information no one told you about choice of eggs or any other information just basically sit where you like and help yourself , breakfast times were altered no reason given just told ended earlier by an hour , seams the whole place was pre occupied with weddings and no real interest in ordinary guests

location

Beautiful location and history, with ancient watermill and river on site. Our en suite room was in the Cottage a small scenic walk from the main hotel and found this wonderfully quirky and though dated was warm and comfortable. My family had a room in the hotel which was modern, en suite and comfortable. The hotel is excellent if you are visiting Donington race track, which we were, you could hear the cars on the track from outside the hotel. The village of Castle Donington is a 5 minute drive away with many interesting independent shops, bars and restaurants. We ate in the Millsteam Brasserie, the food was hearty and very tasty and the staff were friendly. There was a good selection of hot and cold food at breakfast. Lots of parking near the hotel.
The exterior of the Cottage area was grubby but that could be because of the time of year.

Booked a table for dinner on arrival, had breakfast next morning before leaving for family funeral. The room was absolutely fine with tea making facility. Both dinner and breakfast were very good.
There was nothing to dislike and would certainly come back under better circumstances. It's a great place to meet up with family and friends.
