The staff were all very efficient and friendly and the food was exceptional. The room was lovely.
There could be a bit more seating inside and out to just have a drink.

Beautiful hotel in a stunning location. Staff were fantastic, very helpful. Couldn't fault the price for what we got either!
4.0
The staff were very pleasant upon arrival and attentiveness throughout the stay and during our dining experience was exemplary.
The room was very disappointing, it felt like an add on to the hotel as if it used to be an office or staff room and converted with minimal effort to make an additional room. The carpet was dirty and stained, there was plaster coming off the walls, marks all over the walls, curtains starting to come off their rail, floor boards above the room were creaking and had no insulation, sounded like an elephant above us and I don't think they were being loud on purpose its just poor construction and no maintenance or insulation of the subflooring. The was only enough milk provided for one drink for two people and only one biscuit between two on both days which just comes across as stingy. The mugs provided for making yea or coffee are so small you have 3 sips and its gone an need another but then there's not enough milk. There was a meeting room on the side of our room which wasn't explained to us and being immediately at the room exit you don't notice the sign which says in use and ended up walking in and disrupting a meeting. The alternative route was to go up several stairs through a narrow corridor and navigate several fire doors and back down some stairs and through a common room, all while trying to carry your bags. The room was on the ground floor facing the car park you couldn't get changed or relax without people seeing you so the curtains have to be closed pretty much most of the time to have privacy and therefore no natural light. I wouldn't want to stay in the room more than a night we stayed two and that was too much! The gardens and paddock are sold to you as part of some customer experience thing to do but they are unmanaged and small and almost not worth mentioning. No thought goes into the customer experience here and it seems like everyone just does there job but no one is there overseeing the finer details. The hotel owner needs desperately to spend some money and invest in refurbishment of the room.

Good size room, good shower, lovely staff and nice history behind the property too. We were quite impressed.

Large room including sofa, comfortable bed and fluffy bath towels. Convenient and pleasant 15 minute walk into Trowbridge.
I have no complaints about my stay.

Really comfortable room. Very helpful staff at breakfast who helped with special requests.
I forgot my charger. It was handed in by cleaner but nobody rang me. Luckily I realised before leaving the area.

we booked and PREPAID for a superior room, we never got. For 10 days, we try to get a refund but no reply from the hotel to our e-mail

The rooms were very close to the bar.
Very convenient
Property could do with a “freshen up”
It looked a bit “tired”
Property could do with money spent on it, to freshen it up.
The room price should have included breakfast, as it was dear.

Room was quirky and location was excellent.
We could walk to Bradford on Avon easily in 20 minutes from where we could take a train to Bath that took 14 mins. Lovely places to eat for vegetarians in Bradford on Avon. Beautiful scenic walks as well.
Susie the assistant manager was very helpful during our stay and always had a smile and time to have a quick chat.
The hotel restaurant didn’t cater very well for vegetarians and we had asked before we arrived about their ability to accommodate us and were told it would be no problem. However, on arrival at the restaurant for the first night we were told there were only two options for us (celeriac dish and a parsnip dish priced at £17-18 each) and the chef could not make anything else. We were very disappointed and left to go into town (bradford on avon) where we found a good choice of restaurants at more reasonable prices.
If you eat meat, this will be ideal for you.

It was a lovely “old” property but did need a coat of paint or varnish, as it was a bit tired. It need a good make over to bring it up to its 3 star status.
We loved the location and cleanliness and quality of the food
Staff was lovely and very helpful.

Location was good, lovely building. Staff friendly
Food prices are too much for us. Couldn't afford breakfast. Room needs a good dust. £180 just for a bed!

Continental breakfast was okay.Service was prompt.
Confusion at book-in,reception had said we were only booked in for room only, but we had booked for room breakfast and dinner. We had to email our receipt to prove this to reluctant receptionist.
Our room was clean but furniture was tired and scruffy.Bathroom floor was split in several places and needed replacing.Traffic noise was loud throughout the night.

Lovely buildings and a quiet atmosphere, I stayed in one of the rooms in the outbuildings. The room was clean and comfortable with a lovely king sized bed which made me very happy! I needed to chill in peace and this place gave me that. All the staff were lovely and the food in the restaurant was fantastic - that pork belly was perfection.
I liked everything! I guess the only thing I'd like is extras, everyone loves free stuff and special treatment, but it's not expected and I wasn't disappointed at all to not receive any.

The food was excellent. The room was spacious and clean.
The hotel as a whole is nice but is in need of some TLC and updating. As a guest I shouldn't have been able to see the tile spacers where the grout has worn away.

Peacefully quiet, beautiful historical building and setting. Bathroom was lovely with high quality products - bath/shower gel etc. large comfy bed. Friendly helpful staff.
Needed more tea making facilities - lack of teabags! Having to ask again for oat milk, was offrered soya milk which went off very quickly. Although the restaurant looked beautiful and welcoming, menu choices were very limited for vegans/ vegetrians, had to eat elsewhere.

Quirky historical hotel
Excellent food at dinner
Helpful and pleasant staff
Room categorisations perhaps need to be clearer between Booking.com and website. Use of Classic King and Standard for same room needs to be unified into one descriptive.

The staff were exceptionally helpful particularly James.
Smallish hotel. We were placed in outbuilding and wrongly assumed we would be in the old stone/manor house pictured. This did not affect our stay/enjoyment.
