Breakfast Good
We had the worst experience possible at this hotel, no free room service even tho we paid 155 for a night, requested vacuum cleaner and bin bags and it took ages for them to provide these to us, no wifi and not able to connect the wifi to the TV.

Restaurant very good, food and service superb
Many memories of functions at this hotel from years ago, now needing better maintenance, and an injection of atmosphere.
No comfortable, atmospheric sitting area in the bar, restaurant nicely laid out, food excellent, at breakfast and dinner, service very good.
The whole public area lacking character and charm, a bit like an airport departure lounge.
Room, though spacious, starting to look rather shabby, although we were booked as a couple it seemed to be laid out for single occupancy, we eventually found the second set of towels in the bottom of the wardrobe. Very parsimonious with tea and coffee supplies (although the staff did supply more when asked) bathroom had old, inaccurate signs, and poorly applied sealant round the bath and tiles and shower controls virtually un-usable.
In general, overpriced, rather sad hotel relying on past reputation for its business.

The staff were fine, the girls in the breakfast dining room were pleasant and helpful and the cooked breakfast was very good. The coffee, although from a machine was excellent.
Not too sure how this hotel has a four star rating. As the saying goes, you only get one chance to make a first impression and the reception area is somewhat underwhelming. The girl was fine so we checked in and went to find the room on the first floor. The narrow stairway and corridor was so dull and drab, all painted in a dark grey and could benefit from a good hoovering.
The room bore no resemblance whatsoever to the photos on their website and again decorated in dark grey emulsion and the view from the window, all be it, not their fault was so depressing we were so pleased we were only there for one night.
Again, something beyond their control is the the parking at the front of the hotel which is pay and display and applies from 8.00am until 6.00pm which was fine when we arrived at 4.00pm and paid for two hours but the idead of having to be out at 8.00am next morning to put another ticket on the screen is pretty inconvenient as in our case, we'd had a late night at a local restaurant .

We booked two rooms for ourselves and the family and they were ok. The evening meal was quite good but it seemed with the large wedding happening in the evening the staff were a little tense. The breakfasts were very good.
The email a short time before we travelled was a shock when we were told that there was no parking at the hotel. It was somewhat cofusing when we arrived and had to park a short time in the square. However as it turned out we were eventually able to park on the hotel premises later when we were advised that the hotel parking machines hadn't been installed yet and the odd space did appear.

Room was lovely.
There appeared to be an infestation of tiny moth like creatures throughout the room and the bathroom, nesting in the wardrobe and the towels.
The view from the window (which was open when we arrived) was a bit of a dumping ground which was probably harbouring the pests.
I left my beautiful white gold Michael Kors bangle on the side of the bath and it has never been retrieved sadly.
