With York being overrun with accommodation - this is a gem - highly recommended

The location is a stones throw from town and the room is outstanding - with it's own vinyl player (of which you can borrow records), four poster bed that's incredibly comfortable and an inclusive mini bar. We particularly liked the free pantry that we were able to indulge in - all you can eat snacks - heaven!

I will go elsewhere when next in York.

Reception staff very friendly. Quirky place. Location.

Restaurant service at dinner very poor. (one young man in particular - nobody came to take any order - when we eventually called the young man standing nearby to ask if we could order some wine, he sullenly came over and said something to the effect 'OK I'm listening, fire away'. Had we not had guests with us, I think we would have left. Another waiter took over. The food was acceptable, but nothing special.

Location was not ideal but everything was within walking distance. It was 3 or 4 blocks to the walled part of the city.

Perfect 10 for The Fat Lady.

Everything. I could have stayed forever in that little room, with huge bed and windowview (OMG) and birds singing.

Great stay for our wedding and would definitely return!

We had a wonderful experience staying at No1 by GuestHouse for our wedding night. The hospitality was exceptional, and the accommodations were perfect. Thank you for making our special night even more memorable. Highly recommend!

Parking at £20 per night is quite expensive on top of the cost of the room. I think this price should be absorbed by the room price.

Would we stay there again, yes but only when the weather is cooler!

Lovely looking hotel with impressive interior design. Room was nice and clean. And a free pantry full of snacks, drinks and ice cream.

It was a hot day and room was too hot. Cute ‘doll’s house’ containing the coffee machine, kettle etc. was quite inaccessible.

Cozy ambiance with a touch of design!

We stayed in the 18m2 room and the bed was incredibly cozy! The personal was very friendly and kind, specially Susan on the front desk. There are board games available in the living room to spend a fun night having a cocktail from the bar. Highy recommended!

Lovely place! Would stay here again!

Unique, very comfortable place! Nice location close to city center and the rail station. Yet quiet room. Loved sleeping with the window open and hearing the birds in the morning! Cool to have a record player, fun coffee station, and the pantry!

A bit disappointing, and the only disappointing property in our 16 night, 5 location journey in England.

Location and public areas (bar and restaurant were bell appointment.

Room was very cramped due to poor use of space, and too warm/stuffy. No air conditioning and no ability to open windows. Bed was very worn out.

A comfortable night away in York.

Good location and comfortable bedroom although a little compact this visit. It was difficult to use the Nespresso machine. The Pantry is a nice touch, however.

My favourite stay ever!

I’ve stayed at plenty of hotels before but this has to be my favourite. I came here for my husbands birthday and they even left him a little treat in our room. I’m pregnant and they were aware of this as I’d booked a pregnancy massage. They’d supplied extra pillows in the room for me and offered to swap out the toiletries for pregnancy safe products - it’s these little touches that made the trip feel so special. The pantry is an excellent touch and we loved details like relaxing music playing when we entered the room, as well as the concierge taking our bags to our room for us before we had checked in. The bed was super comfortable and the room constantly smelt like a spa. On that note we both had a massage at the guesthouse. The spa facilities are gorgeous and relaxing and the team at the spa are skilled and really listen to what you want. Thank you so much, we hope to come back soon!

Some rooms are on the busy main road therefore occur traffic noise. We had one but they very kindly moved us for our second night.

Beautiful hotel, great location, great staff

Great location, uniquely & beautifully decorated throughout the hotel, our room was stunning, loved the complementary pantry treats, very cosy, friendly helpful staff.

Limited parking, tried to book a car parking slot at the time of booking so I had to arrange parking at an alternative car park. Restaurant experience was great though a little disappointed with my steak, it wasn’t bad but didn’t match the quality of other restaurants I’ve experienced at this price point. Our room was quite compact - not an issue given the beautiful decor - but ideally would have preferred a bigger room. Non of these issues dampened our experience and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Relaxed luxury

Exceptionally clean and stylish accommodation. Loved the addition of the vinyl in the room, really added to the stay. Breakfast was delicious too!

It’s just a little bit out of the Centre which I hadn’t realised but not really a negative.

good apart from the above mentioned incident

we enjoyed the originality of the hotel.

lots of corridors. we had a very bad experience on the last night of our trip. we had a 5:00am start to continue a very long journey however the people in room next. to us kept us up all night! They were making a horrendous noise, banging and crashing around their room. it was a total disaster! we didnt get any sleep at all.
