Belle découverte

La décoration de l'hôtel et de la chambre, la gentillesse et le professionnalisme du personnel, le petit déjeuner exceptionnel tant dans le choix que dans les produits frais et originaux proposés

La chambre donnait sur la rue principale bruyante, mais il est difficile de faire quelque chose contre cela et cela n'enlève rien à la qualité de cet établissement.

Un endroit de charme où l'on se sent immédiatement bien accueilli.

L'extrême amabilité de Laure à l'accueil et de son équipe. Hôtel très bien situé avec beaucoup de charme et décoré avec goût. Possibilité de se garer dans le parking privé. Chambre confortable, au calme et avec des volets roulants ! Petit déjeuner très complet, varié avec notamment des pâtisseries maison.

Centraal gelegen, schoon prima hotel met goede ontbijtfaciliteiten.

Het hotel ligt centraal in het dorp.Er is op het terrein voldoende gratis parkeergelegenheid. En er is een prettige tuin met zitjes. Het ontbijt heeft een enorm aanbod, echt bijzonder!. Het dorp is gericht op wandelaars en wintersporters en heeft een thermen. Het hotel heeft alleen ontbijtfaciliteiten en om 20.00 wordt de gezellige lounche afgesloten. Dan is er ook geen receptie meer. Het is netjes, gezellig.

Petit déjeuner excellent, sucré salé, avec beaucoup d’ingéniosité, des mini pâtisseries faites maison : un vrai bonheur de commencer la journée avec ces farandoles de produits - plaisir - santé 😀

Super friendly front of house. Great location. Great room that looked newly renovated. Great breakfast. I don’t understand the 2* rating, it’s much much better than that. Maybe it’s because they don’t have an elevator that’s all I can think of as it was terrific.

A lovely comfortable hotel in a delightful town

This is one of my favourite hotels where we've stayed several times over the years, Our 'Queen Room' had a separate sitting room and a view of the very comfortable garden. Breakfast is best described as magnificent and the staff are always keen to oblige.

A wonderful gem of a hotel with fabulous proprietors. I’d recommend in a heartbeat.

The staff were welcoming, the hotel was beautifully maintained and the homemade breakfast was wonderful value for money. Our room was also perfect - classy and beautifully presented.

We have absolutely no complaints about anything.

Out of season quiet and everything you could want staying in a lovely old hotel with character.

A beautiful large old hotel which provided 5 motorcyclists with a great nights sleep and a fine breakfast. No evening meal but there are many many places in Monte-Dore even out of season.

Nice, but....

Very well placed hotel. Friendly staff and very clean hotel. Very nice garden if weather had been good. Electric blinds on windows.

No tea or coffee facilities in the room. We were not told about the chance to have afternoon tea in the lounge. Our tiny toilet/ sink had a communal down pipe through it which was Very noisy and disturbed us during the night. Reasonable breakfast, but nothing special for €13.50 Spa nice, although consisted only of a jacuzzi and sauna and a relaxation room, but had to sit around in a too small wet dressing gown and the relaxer chair had a dangerous broken arm.

Exceptional

The Grand Hotel is beautiful and deserving of a higher rating than 2 stars. The hotel has been renovated to a high standard, the owner Mathilde is delightful - so helpful and friendly and the breakfast was superb. We loved the town and would definitely visit and stay at Le Grand Hotel Mont Dore again. Absolutely wonderful. The onsite free parking was a real bonus.

The breakfast choice was very good.

There was no non dairy alternatives for breakfast. I asked if I could have plain eggs but was told no. I asked if there was soya milk for cereal but was told no. I asked for a vegan marg spread but was told no. I asked for non dairy milk for tea but was told no. Also no water bottle in our room or our sons room. No personal shower products in either room other than large dispenser of hand soap.

Comfortable beds and great breakfast spread. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Exceptional presentation and cleanliness.

Very warm welcome, great breakfast

We booked our stay very last minute so we were pleased we were able to secure a room. On arrival we were offered a choice of rooms which was a nice touch, and the room was comfortable and quiet. The on-site car parking is secure and very convenient, and the hotel is well located for exploring the town and the local area. The breakfast with home-made produce was plentiful and delicious, especially the eggs. And the restaurant recommendations were just what we were after, so thank you :)

A beautiful hotel in the centre of town with off street parking. Our room had a huge bath which was very welcome after a cold day on the bike. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast selection was amazing.

Good hotel in excellent location

This a traditional hotel set in the centre of town. The rooms were comfortable, and breakfast was good. The views from our room overlooked the main street but we weren't disturbed during the night. One thing to be aware of, and this is not a complaint, as it is to be expected in an old building like this, there is no lift. We were on the top floor and the stairs are quite steep. We had no issues but if you have mobility issues I would recommend requesting a room on the lower floors.

One small issue. I know that it saves staff time and costs, but I find that coffee that is served from an automated machine at breakfast is always of poor quality. Others may feel differently, and it really is a small point. If that is the only issue I have you can take it that I would have no issues staying here again if I was in the area.

The hotel doesn’t have an elevator, making it somewhat difficult for older visitors to safely reach the upper floors. N.B.: The hotel makes this very clear on all of their advertising and on their website.
