Very clean & comfortable rooms. Well stocked hospitality tray. Good shower. Fluffy towels. Great restaurant, very good choice at breakfast. Polite & friendly staff.
Nothing!

Good location with parking available. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Didn't hear the wedding reception from my room. Lots of hot water and good big bath towels.
Noisy extractor fan sound in my room all night. Seemed to be missing a main light. Room quite dark. Locked out of my room the second day as key hadn't been programmed properly. The staff were very busy and having to rush around a lot as there was a wedding reception the first day. Garden wasn't accessible first day because of the reception. Low on some stocks - white wine not as advertised and no butter at breakfast both days, only Flora. Lots of stairs and layout generally a bit confusing.
Food was ok, but nothing special. Chefs pie of the month disappointing - I suspect not home made and while accompanying champ was nice the vegetable provided was the same greens as in the champ.

Excellent walled garden with fantastic lunch menu. Great location with plenty of on-site parking.
We stayed in an executive room with an extra bed for our child which was great as no extra cost, however her bed was a sofa bed which wouldn’t have been a problem if it wasn’t so uncomfortable. The springs could be felt right through the mattress and was impossible to sleep on so all three of us had to sleep in the large bed which thankfully was very large but not ideal for three!

Bed was not so comfy this time.

We only booked this hotel as a cheap stay over on a late journey from Dover to Yorkshire.
We really didn’t expect much based on what we paid for the room including a breakfast but was pleasantly surprised how really nice it was.
The lady on reception on arrival was so friendly & chatty.
Room was really nice & comfortable.
Breakfast was in our opinion exceptional, self service buffet but everything was very nice.
Would definitely stay there again
Nothing not to like.
Just a word of warning (nothing to do with the hotel), don’t forget to register your vehicle registration for the car park on arrival.
There’s plenty of notices everywhere to remind you about this, we just didn’t see them.
We registered the next morning, took less that a minute to do & we haven’t had a fine letter up to now so fingers crossed

Location to our social event at Newbury racecourse, free parking
Rooms out dated , lots of noice from bar downstairs at night. Very basic room .
Breakfast ran out and had to wait long time , staff shortage on fully booked hotel
2.5
Central location, with free parking (although tight one). Breakfast is decent.
The cleanliness level is really low, many items in the room look outright filthy. There is pigeon guano all over the place, just outside the windows, that seemingly none bothered to clean for years, creating a dangerous health hazard. The arrangement in the room was uncomfortable, which negates spaciousness, and also includes internal stairs.
2.5
It was in a good location with plenty of parking.
The breakfast was really good.
The rooms were tired, needing a lick of paint. Could do with a thorough clean. Asked to change rooms as our allocated room smelled, there was dust everywhere and the kettle was full of limescale. Second room didn’t smell but needed a good clean, the dust/ dirt on the skirting was awful.

Location and had own parking. Breakfast was good
Room was a bit tired. Property generally looked a bit dated. Car park spaces were vey small and tight.

I was suprised at the size of the room, spacious and comfortable. Room to sit and relax.
The inclusive breakfast was only adequate.

Central location and nice place
There were some very loud people in the corridors making a lot of noise in the night which kept us awake for sometime. I’m sure there must have some complaints from that night.

Good location, nice atmosphere, friendly staff.
Used to be a lovely old world hotel with character, recent modernisation has almost destroyed the old world character we loved so much.

A warm welcome, common areas, and room refurbished and stylish. The property and the team exceeded my expectations
4.5
The breakfast was very good. Staff service was efficient and friendly. And getting around the neighbourhood was quite easy. We walked up the high street and explored the town centre and had some meals nearby.
There was no lift in the hotel. But fortunately we had help from the staff. Travellers like us from overseas are likely to have more heavy luggage and a lift would have helped a lot.

Breakfast OK, good choices
Very hot night, room had no Airton so window open and the noise from the main road awful , kept awake until after 1.00
5.0
Huge rooms! Very grateful that there was a fan in the room
Difficult to shower as the temperature kept changing rapidly. Also an elevator would be a great improvement.
3.0
Good breakfast.
Very nice lobby and common room to end the day. Quite during the night.
Old furniture and old carpets give the room a smell, old windows hard to open. Renovation needed in many ways.
Pictures show the hotel from the best perspective which is rarely seen by the guests if not looking for it.
Attention: there are even motel rooms accessible from the car park only.
4.5
The family room was very large and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was excellent.
Unfortunately there were 2 sets of stairs to our room. The fruit salad was from a tin at breakfast.

The staff went above and beyond and were fantastic, 100% kudos to them. The location is loverly as we as check in and parking. Super pleasant downstairs experience.
I feel guilty writing anything negative as the staff were so lovely, but the room was definitely a little funky as was the crib and the shower experience. I will leave that there
5.0
Great breakfast, good location at the top of the high street, lots of free parking, great value, friendly staff
Shower went really hot and cold but we managed and the windows could be changed for new but I imagine there is planning restrictions
