We stayed in the Dubu and it was absolutely stunning. So unique and romantic, with beautiful bath tubs and well thought out spaces. The staff were so thoughtful and accommodating too, such beautiful grounds and always immaculate. A very special place to stay.

The property is large and spread out. Rooms have lots of privacy and are huge on the outside. Food was incredible and the people were warm and friendly.
Wifi connection was fantastic. Lots of books to keep you occupied. Great outdoor shower experience.
Food took some time to be served, but if you order in advance, it comes quickly.
The spa was smaller than expected, with only 1 male masseuse. However, when we asked for it, they arranged a female therapist the next day.

If I could give more stars I would. Kahanda Kanda exceeded our expectations, it was absolutely wonderful! It's a perfect hotel for couples and honeymooners: private, amazing service, very friendly and capable staff, absolutely delicious food and drinks, fun activities and beautifully decorated rooms and exterior. You can see there is a real eye for detail at this hotel. They really care about making an exceptional experience for you. All of the staff were extremely professional and well trained. Staff that comes to mind in particular are Rohan and Dushan, but everyone working during our stay was wonderful!
We particularly loved the pool at our private villa Kumbuk, the cooking class, the cinnamon experience (we got to harvest cinnamon with a lovely couple who own a cinnamon farm) and all of the delicious dinners and drinks. We will recommend this hotel to friends and we really want to come back soon. Thank you for a wonderful honeymoon, it couldn't have been any better!
Only improvement could have been the wifi in our villa, it worked mainly outside on the deck but didn't work very well inside. The wifi worked fine at the reception and dinner area though. It wasn't a big issue for us, as we came to relax anyway!

Absolutely everything was fantastic about this properly. We felt like the only guests and were looked after so well. The resort is incredibly private, we booked the Hibiscus Villa- highly recommended with a fantastic uninterrupted view of the tea plantation. We did the cooking class which was gorgeous and then we ate our dinner on our terrace with candles. It was honestly magical.
Devastated we had to leave!

The property is located in a very beautiful setting among the trees.
After entering the room I lay down on the bed and was badly bitten by fleas or something similar, not mosquitoes, it was extremely painful and felt like my body was going into shock. I left the room and felt I couldn’t go back and left the property as soon as I could arrange a driver and had to book a hotel elsewhere. They didn’t offer to arrange a driver or refund me, not even a partial refund, so I paid double price for the night and wasted my money. My health and comfort is a priority so I had to leave the venue and go to another hotel.
The road to the property is full of big potholes and in poor condition, not suitable for a car.
The wall outside the room was in poor condition ie paint was peeling off and didn’t look like a 5 star property in this condition. It needs maintenance.

Pure luxury! It was a perfect oasis, absolutely stunning and every little detail had been thought about. My husband & I stayed for over a week, we planned to leave and visit other places but we never left until we checked out.

The villas have beautiful views of nature and the place is aesthetically pleasing. The food was our favourite part of the stay, as it was very delicious and the chef is fantastic. The Sri Lankan special food was delicious, and the staff were helpful when we wanted to book a tuk-tuk they arrange this for us.
I think most people would really enjoy staying at Kahanda, it is a shame we encountered a few incidents that ruined our stay and we think we should have received a discount/refund but as these were one-off incidents others will probably love their experience! It is a beautiful location.
We spent a considerable amount of money for our honeymoon yet it was the only hotel we stayed at that didn't provide the same level of care. The power cut for several hours on our first morning, which would have been fine if we were staying there longer, but as we were there for a short time it impacted our stay and I missed an urgent meeting. This was unfortunate but other places did have sufficient generators so we never encountered this issue.
Following this we were told we would be shown other rooms suited to honeymooners after 12:00 that we could move into, and this was extremely misleading as we thought we were being compensated through an upgrade. We packed our bags, waited for hours, but once we were shown the other villas, we were told this was simply a tour and we would be charged if we wanted to upgrade. Whilst it is absolutely fine if people want to go on tours, this should have been made extremely clear to us from the outset, as it was misleading and we felt our time was wasted. Communication could have been clearer.
I suffered from an allergy reaction despite informing the hotel of my allergy. I developed a rash, tightening chest, and a sore mouth. I understand this was not intentional, the staff said they did not put nuts in my food so I believe it could have been cross-contamination. The staff kindly offered me alternative dinner but I didn't feel well so took my medicine and went back to my room, this was an unfortunate incident that ruined my evening.
There was a lot of insects in our food at breakfast. I understand we are out in nature, but better care can and should be taken. I found 10 spiders inside my closed pot of jam.
Lastly, upon check-out we were charged for two alcoholic drinks which had been added to our bill, despite the fact that we do not drink alcohol and had never ordered cocktails during our stay, so this was quite disappointing and caused a delay in our schedule as we had to wait until this was resolved before leaving.

This place is phenomenal. The photos don't do it justice. Tucked away, off the beaten track, it's an idyllic oasis nestled in a tea plantation. The staff went above and beyond for my birthday!

We absolutely loved the idyllic setting, the beautifully appointed room, comfy luxurious bed, the essential oils put in our room every evening, having our private pool with the most amazing views, all the beautiful birds, the lovely smiling polite helpful staff, the excellent gym, the main pool, scrumptious Sri Lankan breakfast and tasty dinners…. We didn’t want to leave and will definitely be back to this little slice of paradise.
Nothing at all!

This was an exceptional KK experience. The setting is idyllic, within a tropical forest on a hill with refreshing breezes, rustling palm leaves and the cries of peacocks, parrots and other harmonious birds. Villas are large and separate, adorned with interesting collectors items, the decorating style is tasteful and comfortable, the regal fourposter netted bed was firm and topped with a soft fleece and luxurious sheets. We enjoyed the large reflecting swimming pool (at a perfectly inviting temperature) but also visited the attractively designed smaller personal plunge pools with some of the villas. The colour schemes were vibrant and tasteful. The staff were charming, personal and attentive and the food delicious. OK it was expensive but an experience that is worth saving for! It was a pleasure to meet the owner /creator of this spectacular KK brand. The COVID pandemic has made it very difficult for the tourism sector and we hope that a flood of visitors will sustain this very special place.

We had the most amazing experience staying at Kahanda Kanda boutique hotel. The landscape is breathtaking, with the forest in the background and the tea plantation in front. We enjoyed sights of peacocks, squirrels, weasels and monkeys from afar and some friendly cats and dogs.
Dev - the hotel manager - made our stay so memorable: we got upgraded to a villa with a pool, tasted some gems from Sri Lanka cuisine (even had a surprised candle light dinner) and felt 100% safe with all the COVID-19 protocols taken by the hotel.
This won’t be our last stay at Kahanda Kanda, we definitely look forward to coming back.

the breakfast was delicious and provided pretty much everything - my favourite was the eggs benedict. The setting for the breakfast was also perfect, very relaxing and tranquil.
My villa was great (Hellaconia) but I found the outdoor bathroom a bit challenging in the evening when all the bugs come out to play (however, it didn't take from the overall experience).
