The double room was really comfy and spacious. Big comfy bed, hot shower, and air conditioning that was a godsend in the humidity after being in the Amazon. Breakfast was standard Peruvian of bread, egg and jam, coffee, juice, but fine seeing as it was included.
The vibe of the place was really weird. Didn’t feel social even though there were people scattered around. Can’t pay by card even though there’s an EFTPOS machine, which is annoying when there’s an ATM withdrawal limit. Some staff were friendlier than others.

Being in the jungle the aircon rooms are a must!! Super comfortable all the time with aircon. Breakfasts were great

Great location. Cheap and cheerful.
Bit run down

Breakfast was a standard Peru - toast, butter, marmalade, egg, coffee/tea, juice - very good considering it is included in the price. The common spaces were very nice and comfortable. Plus it is very close to the city centre and the staff was really nice and helpful.
Showers were little problematic - no warm water during our stay, some of them were missing hangers. The beds were hit or miss - some were good, some not really.

The atmosphere is so chilled, lovely and caring! It it is very easy to feel like home in flying dog. The staff is so friendly, helpful and open.
Sometimes they run out of soap so bring your own. Actually i should just have asked they probably would have refilled it.

Probably the cheapest option in Iquitos. The facilities are nice but at times there is no staff attending.

It was quite social
It's walking distance to the centre
The wifi was totally useless
There was a lot of noise from outside, thumping music in the night and the morning
The tour company they recommended was terrible
The shower was bad
The AC was noisy and ineffective

They had a TV and were welcoming and easy to talk to
Dirty bathrooms, breakfast was inadequate, lots of ants so would crawl into my clothes. No AC so very hot.

I had two nights in Iquitos before going on a medicine retreat in the jungle and I chose to stay at Flying Dog at the recommendation of a friend. The location was good, you'll pay no more than 20 soles to get there from the airport, and it's close to the Touristico restaurants on the Boulevard, as well as Plaza de Armas and the Belen market.
I was treated like family by the staff with my every request being accommodated with a smile. It's easy to get around by foot (watch for the doggie doo on the sidewalk though, that's a common occurrence in Iquitos), or you can catch a moto taxi which are always outside. I felt safe catching a moto back to the hostel at night, the desk was staffed 24-hours. The guys can help arrange tours, just know to set a price before you go and if it seems like too much money it probably is.
My room with a private bathtub was good value, the AC worked great and the bed was adequate. Abundant hot water which can be difficult to find in Iquitos. My room was at the front of the hostel and luckily i am a good sleeper as it was quite loud outside from about 7am until 10pm or so.
The breakfast was pretty lackluster, although there was eggs made to order. You can expect to have to leave the hostel in order to get decent breakfast, there are nice acai bowls at places on the Blvd just a few blocks away.

Noisy and dirty

The room had a beautiful design. I appreciated the AC, the quality of the sheets and mattress and the hot shower (with water pressure) was very welcome after being in the jungle for so long. Generally speaking the place is beautiful. I love the shipibo material everywhere (in the entrance and on the chairs in the room) and the fact the place is so clean. The location is wonderful for walks in the evening along the water front and really close to the centre and to places where to eat. A good supermarket is a few streets down and it is an easy location to find a taxi to go anywhere.
The room was noisy (close to the road). Breakfast is a bit "work it out by yourself" and the staff could definitely improve their attitude at the counter when you arrive (just because you don't have a stamp in your passport does not necessarily mean you are an illegal traveller. It would be better not to assume anything and maybe ask if there is another passport or if there was a problem with the entrance stamp). Also, I asked if it was ok to have a pet with me through booking and at no point was told I needed a special request but then was reproached not to have asked for one at the counter. Fortunately the rest of the staff was ok.

The staff are incredible! So welcoming & help you with anything you need! 5 minute walk to main grocery store and 10 minutes to main plaza, banks, shops ect. I stayed in AC dorm & was comfortable, bathrooms always clean. Of course WiFi is slow but that is standard across all of iquitos. Would recommend 100%

the WiFi is TERRIBLE HERE.

Location was great, breakfast was a plus but the room had no AC, which is key when traveling / living in the Amazon!
The staff was great and very welcoming though.
Just put an AC unit in the private room and we'll come back!
No AC in the room.
The room had no AC, which is key in this part of the world (the Amazon).

Location
Breakfast staff was rude and complained after giving me a omelette with ants on it. It was very noisy at night if you had a room with street view.

Staff A+ nice location

Great staff. They were very helpful to my issues and helped me out whenever I ran into an issue. They also helped with currency conversion issues.
Main issue was the patchy internet, meaning I went a while without any solid internet connection which was an issue if I was trying to contact my tour group.

Friendly staff. Nice vibe, good common areas for hanging out. Relatively clean. Decent breakfast considering the price. Nice location right by the river. Lots of restaurants nearby and easy to get a mototaxi right outside that for 4 soles will take up to 3 people to most places around the town.

The location and staff
The wifi didn't work

Central location, working airconditioning and nice room.
At night the street is not the nicest to cross. Breakfast was limited.
