Peaceful. Clean. Beautiful location

John and Soledad were friendly and attentive hosts. Soledad made us healthy and tasty dinners on request. Breakfast was a complete meal that included a large plate of fresh tropical fruits. The setting in the rainforest was beautiful and relaxing with the sound of the river and fountain. The beds were comfortable. It was a great place to come back from activities such as sidetrip to Cayos Cochinos.

Cozy and secluded place right in the tropical forest, nice breakfast and welcoming hosts and staff
I wish they had a mini fridge in the rooms

Beautiful hotel, with the perfect balance of comfort but still feeling in the wilderness. The hammocks and sofas are great after a day of hiking, and the food was excellent. The sound of the birds and wildlife was wonderful
The owners john and Soledad are friendly and super helpful without being overbearing. Really enjoyed my stay.

I don’t usually write reviews even when I intend to do so. However, this place deserves a review and more.
My cousin and I booked a 2 nights stay and ended up staying for 7 nights. I cannot say enough about the hospitality that was extended to us.
John is such a great man! He’s always eager to share information and take care of your needs but he’s also a hoot when you catch him in his moments.
His wife, Soledad, is an absolute gem! She is so full of love and her smile lights up the room. Her cooking is HEAVENLY! Every meal, every time!
On our first night, my cousin and I asked what was for dinner. After our first taste, we never asked again. We just waited to be surprised!
The villa is beautifully built and designed. The pictures that are posted certainly don’t do it justice. Waking up in this paradise to the colorful hummingbirds, beautiful bird songs, and the rushing river felt right in every way.
We are still exploring Honduras and we have been trying to figure out how to squeeze one more night in with Soledad and John before we leave.
If you book here, you will not be disappointed at all! If you are, you can blame it on me. Yes, we loved it that much.
Thank you Soledad, John & family for the most amazing week we could have asked for.
I can’t think of one thing that we did not like besides having to leave.

As the owner tell you as soon as you arrive, you definitely feel at home at this hotel! Very clean rooms, beautiful decoration, nice terrace with hammocks, pleasant garden, excellent breakfast and dinner. The owners are also very friendly and answer any question you would have!

Perfect jungle location teeming with birds and a view of the river from the terrace. We saw a toucans and hummingbird every day from our hammock.
Super friendly staff who really made an effort to chat (we communicated in half Spanish/ half English). Jessica’s food was delicious and we had dinner there every night.

The property was awesome! It felt very secluded (which is what we wanted) and you could hear the river from the back, as well as a ton of birds and other animals. It was a short walk to the river where you could take a swim, climb the huge boulders, or just relax. Another short walk brings you to the Pico Bonito visitor center where you can cross the hanging bridge and hike into the national park. They make a nice breakfast every morning for you with fresh fruit, eggs, toast, and other stuff. John and the staff were very friendly and helpful!
We loved the open-walled design of the house, but obviously with that, you will have bugs. Bring bug spray. Everything else was great.

Beautiful BnB, gorgeous scenery, well maintained, super friendly and accommodating staff! Lots of hammocks to be enjoyed

I loved their garden, which is full of birds. And the couch, chairs and hammocks were very comfortable. Also, Soledad’s cooking was very good.
My phone got stolen at the riverside, which put a bit of a damp on the experience, but John and his son were very helpful calling the police for me, driving me to the police station and translating for me.

Staff was very lovely. We left a phone charger there and John sent it over to Roatan on the ferry. This was beyond the call of duty. Rooms were spacious and well appointed, and beds were comfortable. Breakfast was very good
While I understood the hotel was out of town by 8 km, I did not understand that one should have a 4x4 to get there, especially at night. We were in a small tour van. The driver got us there but I think it was a miracle. Don’t make the drive for a one night stay. If we had been staying a few days this would not have been so much of a problem. It was 45 minutes of hell to drive up from La Ceiba and we had to get up at the crack of dawn to drive back down the mountain.

Everything! Wonderful family, beautiful place. Very safe. Dont hesitate to go. One word of advice, take the flight to Roatan on the way back there instead of the ferry. I dont usually find ferries bother me but this is a rough ride. Half the cabin, including me, barfed the whole way. Doesnt sound like a big deal, but it wrecked my whole day and evening. Either that or have dramamine before you go, no questions asked. Just take it! The only ones not barfing non stop were napping. The flight is cheap if booked in advance. 15 minutes. I really wished I had heeded this advice. Villa de Soleded is a gem. Enjoy!!
Not a thing.

Staying at La Villa de Soledad was a wonderful experience! John and Soledad are unmatched as hosts and helped us with everything we needed from to food to connecting us with terrific local guides. The property itself is so beautiful, we stayed five nights and we really wished we had even more time! It also felt very safe, we spent lots of time just walking down the road looking at birds and each person who went by always waved or said hi! It is definitely a nice and safe community in the mountains. Finally, the food made by Soledad is so delicious, I think all breakfasts going forward will be disappointing after the feasts at Villa de Soledad! She was also very kind to make us dinners four nights of our stay which were excellent. A perfect place to honeymoon, thanks John and Soledad!

The property is beautiful, the architecture and layout was well thought out. You’re able to enjoy the natural scenery while feeling cozy. The rooms are private and relaxing, the hammocks are perfectly placed so that you can unwind and enjoy the scenery while being close to your room.

One can not beat the breakfast, fresh fruit, coffee with warm milk, however, there are no choices for breakfast. Regardless it was wonderfully prepared and served.
Friendly helpful staff without interfering.
Good question. I will think about this.

I stayed La Villa de Soledad for 4 nights. It is beautiful property with a lush garden. The river that borders the property is truly lovely… I went for a swim everyday. The owner (and other staff on the property) were friendly and always helpful. The owner arranged a river rafting trip for me with a tour operator in the area which I really enjoyed! He also helped me plan my trip through the rest of Honduras. The rooms had good WiFI and were very clean. They adhere to Covid best practices and therefore I felt safe during my stay. Thank you for everything! I will be back!

The best B&B ever

John and Soledad are really warm people, and made us feel at home at all times. The place is beautiful, located just a few steps from the magestic River Cangrejal, where you can swim in crystal clear waters. The garden is gorgeous and receives a number of different bird species such as humming birds and tucans every morning. Highly recommended for relaxing and reconnecting with nature.

This is a remarkable place. The house is on the edge of the jungle, less than 100 yards from the crystal clear Rio Cangrejal. The house is designed in a way that makes you feel like you're as much outside as you are inside. Our room was massive, with a lovely veranda that included a comfortable hammock for siestas. On the grounds surrounding the house, you'll find many plants and trees that produce tasty fruits and vegetables you'll be eating during your stay. The people who run the Soledad are generous and extremely attentive. Jessica is an excellent cook who will make you feel like you're the center of the universe. Her husband Johnny speaks pretty good English and will answer any questions you have about the immediate area and the villages down the road. He helps make the grounds look like the Garden of Eden. We intended to stay 3 nights, but ended up there 10 nights because of the Coronavirus outbreak. In the end, getting "stuck" turned out to be a blessing more than a curse. We found ourselves slowing down and diggibng deeper into the astounding world that surrounded us. The Rio Cangrejal is one of the most beautiful rivers I've ever seen. We swam in it nearly every day. Visually, it's fascinating, with boulders the size of school buses. We hired a guide by the name of Osny (sp?) to take us up to the big waterfall in Pico Bonito National Park. The stories he told us about some of the plants and animals made the mysterious jungle seem like a whole different planet.
La Villa de Soledad is a bit isolated, about a 20 minute drive from La Ceiba. Someone from Villa de Soledad drives into town most days so it's easy to catch a ride. If you're looking for lively nightlife with disco balls, you should probably stay somewhere else.
