Check in was easy. Plenty of towels. Bed and sheets were clean. Satellite TV worked and was ok. Friendly staff.
Very noisy road. Fast cars racing around streets. Doors were locked in the morning and had to unlock doors myself. Bar was very basic and grubby. Room had peeling paint on bathroom ceilings, needs redecorating. Is very basic, not really a hotel at all. Is a pub with some rooms. Photos on Booking.com are VERY flattering and make it look more like a Marriott than a football pub, which is what it is. When you pull up outside and see half the letters missing from the ‘hotel’ name, it is a bit shocking. It’s more like a hostel than a hotel.

On arrival the staff were very friendly and throughout my visit
On entering my place of stay I though it’s only one night and somewhere to sleep . I’d been traveling over 3 hours and thought I’d just rest , I popped to the bar got a couple of drinks and came back to my room to watch the television, on doing so the remote didn’t work but I managed to turn the tv on at the back then randomly the tv switches itself off so due to the remote not working I had to get up to switch it back on . Also when leaving the bathroom it was getting dark so I went to put side lights on at the side of the bed and only one was working . On leaving the bathroom after a shower the light fitting fell completely out of the ceiling very close to hitting me and obviously scared me to death . In the morning I took a shower but it was cold which wasn’t great as I was getting ready for a funeral and then the toilet wouldn’t flush so I had to take the lid off and flush from inside .

Absolutely nothing it was appalling.
It was disgusting nothing like it has been described, it smelt awful it was absolutely filthy. To the point we couldn’t stay. They should not be allowed to have people stay in those conditions.

the location is alright
the beds are comfortable
the showers are the worst small cramped and the way you change the temperature is very old and designed when entering the doors wouldnt close and water escaped and made the whole floor in the bathroom wet.
on the first day i couldnt check in because it was late even though i messaged them that i was gonna arrive late there was no staff to open the door i was freezing outside waiting for someone.
i called the hotel about 20 times nobody answered.
the keycards dont work after using it 2 times i had to get them checked about 5 times.
My room wasn’t clean at all it was dirty the carpet looked old. My room looked unprepared.

The location.
Bed bugs, dirty room and rude management - please do not stay here.
My partner and I had such an awful experience at this hotel in November 2022 and urge anyone who is considering staying here to find somewhere else. Please read this review and look at our photographs (more photographs on trip advisor as we could only upload four here) before thinking about booking.
Firstly, the room and bathroom were incredibly dirty and smelt disgusting. We even found open milk cartons under the bed.
Secondly, my partner hardly slept as he found himself itching throughout the night. When we got up in the morning, we found his body covered in around 30 bites, this increased to over 100 bites over the course of the day. This encouraged us to look in the bed and we found several bed bugs and blood spots.
Finally, we tried to speak amicably to the manager’s wife about this (the manager was not there) who rudely dismissed our claims, refusing to come up to the room and saying that we must have brought the bugs with us. She then showed my partner a receipt from an extermination company saying that our room had been checked for bed bugs the day before. This clearly showed that there had been a problem that had gone undetected. We tried to reason with her about this but she still claimed that it was our fault and even told other customers that we were lying.
As you can imagine, this experience absolutely ruined our trip away. When we returned home we had to wash our car, all our clothes and luggage to ensure that we hadn’t brought the bugs home.
We have tried extremely hard to resolve this with the management face to face on the day, via telephone, messages on Booking.com, email and letter and have received no response and no compensation.
We now just want to ensure that no one goes through anything like what we went through.

Great place to stay for city centre

Its a corner property in a not too crowded place. The staffs, especially the one who serves breakfast was very courteous and helpful.
Poor cleanliness. The room had no relevance to that in pictures. Heater doesn’t work. Breakfast menu is the same everyday. No change even a bit which the property should think about.

Exactly what I paid for - it doesn't pretend to be anything else - a bed for the night - clean, comfortable and spacious bathroom with hot shower - what more do you want. Good value hearty breakfast is a £6 optional extra. Worked out for me as an economical night stay, having flown in to Birmingham before heading to Liverpool/Anfield to see the reds. Room 1 is a accessible room and it is a more spacious room (double and single bed) and bathroom. Bus 97 gets you into town centre from it.
It is just a bit sparse as the room. Internet was a bit spotty. Royal George is a pub and rooms are above it. Very quiet when I was there but Birmingham City FC were playing away, so I can imagine it would be a tad more lively on match days for the days BCFC are playing at home, their ground is just next door. [so on match days, it may be a very different experience may not suit everyone].

I cant say nothing good about this place
If i could put -300 on the rating i would. First of all is not even a hotel, its a motel with dodgy people, dirty, expensive, location horible looks like you gonna get muged. Expensive, horible smell, no ramp to even enter a car pak. Shower horible so small amd shower head was so old, was unusible. Water in shower and sink had a bad smell looked like was something wrong with pluming too. Door lock was all loose, looked unsafe. Bed was horible, one side was higher than other. Was inposible to fall asleep becouse fire alarm was beeping could not turn it off. Underneath the bed was full of trash. Carpet nasty, smelly. Oh and the lift in there was bearly holding it up all biulding was shaking when somebody was using it.
