Breakfast are not meet my expectation, not delicious, public facilities on beach and swimming pool are too expensive which is free in other 5 start hotel.
The pillow are too soft and has no options.

Breakfast, Ocean swims
Lights were flashing in our room - they need to fix some electrical issues. But we received an free high tea for our trouble which was nice!

rooms are nice
cleanliness of beach is very bad

The structure is beatiful, there is a lot of green, trees, flowers, all well maintained.
The staff are very kind and make their best effort, but they obviously need training, they lack very basic training skill and in particular hygiene standards to follow. The cleaning of the "beach area" with sunbeds was poorly done, several pieces of garbage could be seen around. The food at the buffet was acceptable, but I would expect better quality in a 5 star hotel. Waiting time, after ordering food a la carte in the hotel restaurants was extremly long most of time. The light in the walking closet was defective, they repaired it 3 times, finally we gave up, it was on the whole night.

The breakfast was amazing! The balcony view was stunning! It was quiet and peaceful. The rooms were glorious. The butler we were assigned was very good at his job. The main area of the hotel was very well maintained. The gym facilities were more than enough to get a solid workout in. The staff were friendly. You can even order food delivery if you want to save some money. They also offer onsite PCR testing which was very handy indeed. The room itself was spacious, comfortable, clean and a delight with a free minibar included in the price.
Minor criticism but the back part of the hotel seems a little more rundown (dusty, peeling paint, a smashed barrier) than the fantastically maintained very 5 star looking front part. A lick of paint wouldn’t go amiss to maintain the high standard but as our room was not located there, it wasn’t an eyesore and it didn’t impact the wonderful experience we had overall.

Our room came with a butler. Akim was incredible. He helped us find restaurants and order food. Anything you needed he assisted you with. The pool was pretty. There are two pools. The breakfast was delicious. This is a quiet resort for true relaxation.we added additional days to our stay for this reason.
There are no beach chairs. The beach was not maintained so when you took a walk, there was garbage. This is sad. The prices are were high for in- room dining. As well, we added additional days to our stay with no change or value for staying longer.

We enjoyed the hospitality of the resort's staff. Akim was great as the butler assigned to our room. He took care of everything while we were there. The pools are incredible visually and the shaded pool makes for a nice retreat during the hottest part of the day. Breakfast had a large selection as well. The gym has plenty of machines and dumbbells to get in any workout I wanted. The beds were comfy and my wife found the bath incredible. We booked the lagoon room and I fully recommend it.
The pool for the lagoon room was nearly full the first couple of days but afterwards the level of the pool was quite low to only waist height for much of the stay. We didn't enjoy the dining experience in the Chinese restaurant due to a confusing menu whose English translations don't match for non-Chinese readers such as the 10-piece Cantonese dumplings are actually 10 different dessert dumplings despite not being listed with dessert. Quite a shock!

Great large shaded pool with water slides for the kids! Beach BBQ was a nice surprise this time. Great quality and value, also nice the kids can be occupied outside. Generally, despite only having two restaurants, all the food experiences were really good.
Beach was unfortunately under a bit of construction during this time, hopefully this is finished for next time!

fantastic property. great service & F&B.
the beachfront was undergoing a massive renovation. no one told us about it. the beachfront is a critical factor when choosing a property for a summer holiday on the water.

Size of Pool-Villa, with separate living-area and private bedroom-area; great quality of breakfast and separate breakfast-area for Villa-Guests in Driftwood-Restaurant; hospitality of the staff, mainly butler-service (Caroline helped us greatly); huge property with lot's of green; luxury feeling
hotel is old and facilities/buildings show signs of the age (they started renovation-process in the lobby and one hotel-wing); lobby was out of service, so checkin/checkout happens in arrival-area, without a chance to sit for welcome-drink etc; quality of house-keeping (only cleaning of room, not at private pool) and gardening (lot's of weeds around children-pool and no maintenance of trees around pool villa, with old coconuts still on tree, which is dangerous); Driftwood-restaurant is way overpriced with small Menu (we ended up eating outside every evening) and no proper coffee-machine (would expect real Espresso-machine in such a hotel); only small portion of staff speaks English, especially in Restaurant-area

We loved our butler Akim! He was amazing!!! The pools were lovely and clean and great for kids. One pool had a giant shade cover to protect children from the sun which was great! The buffet breakfast had lots of variety.
The cocktails at the beach/pool bar were disappointing. The bar staff didn’t seem to know how to make simple cocktails like Mojitos. They were also very small for the price.

Clean, comfortable, pools were great, breakfast was very good. Our butler, Akim, was great and always tried to help us out. Beach is nice and quiet, however it is not suitable for swimming.
Few options for restaurants. Most of the personnel didn’t speak English, which make it complicated to ask for basis things, specially at the restaurants. Within our stay, there were 2 times in which we were eating late in the night, and the staff was moving all around picking the stuffs up in front of us, making a lot of noise and disturbing. I think they need a better training in customer service. I understand they would want to leave, but it’s important to keep discretion. We felt like they were kicking us out. It was not their intention though but it felt like that.

Beautiful. Quiet. At end of bay, so beaches were peaceful. The staff were amazingly helpful. The St. Regis really cater to your needs.
There’s no beach bar or dining on the beach (although lights are strung and tables were out.) Not enough lounge chairs at pool. There was a whole nother pool with water slides that’s be great for families, but it wasn’t open. it’d be great if they got that going. Poolside food service menu was limited.

The hotel is quiet and staff here are very nice. Children friendly. The sea is wonderful and the beach is good too. Room is very clean and bed is comfortable. I love the wash room, huge! The view from the room is wonderful, too. The private beach is nice, with dark blue sea, soft and fine sand, coconut trees into forest. The beach slowly goes deep into the sea. Children play on the beach, play with the sand. People walk along the coastline, with the breeze blows tenderly on the body.
I expect better food in the future.

The hotel itself is great. Our room was very nice with a great balcony. The one thing that would have been nice is some sort of fan outside the balcony for better air flow on a hot summer day.
The location is at the end of the beach. Great if you are planning to stay on the resort but for venturing out around Sanya, it isn't the most convenient.
Also the beach area itself isn't the biggest, with what lloks like the remains of an older building's foundation about 50 meters away from the hotel.

The overall setting is quite beautiful, room was large and nicely finished
We stayed because we wanted beach front access and it didn’t really have this (I think some photos might be a little deceptive), you have to walk around a steep path to get onto the beach and the beach lounger area inside the hotel felt abandoned, no staff around, ugly signage old equipment everywhere. Food and drinks were crazy expensive and just not good

Our assigned butler Darrryl was excellent and saving grace for our 7nights at royal villa. David and Cedric, the manager and assistant mgr of the Driftwood restaurant really went all out to make our family of 4 felt welcome, they were great. The people at the hotel are generally all helpful and friendly but these 3 wonderful people made our stay great and frankly in my opinion saved the day of at least showing what you expect from being at st regis.
It's a big property so you always can have privacy and not feel crowded out with people, except when it's time for meals(which can be frustrating)
Property is old but that's no excuse for some parts of the compound looking like its not maintained well, signs were missing letters, our villa pool jacuzzi was filthy.
Somewhat ahocking is the lack of dining options for dinner, a huge resort but main restaurant not opened for lunch and dinner, seem to rely on room service as an alternative,a bit shocking really.
Queues for breakfast at the main restaurant(only open for breakfast??!!!)can run 10tables deep, even the Diftwood restaurant for villa guest can get really crowded at times
The chef in driftwood was loud, brash and appear somewhat abusive to the service staff, not accommodating to guest requests at times.
Staying 7nights, we ran out of options fast but kept going to Driftwood because David and Cedric were so nice and welcoming.
Beach was closed and condition nowhere near to what you expect from St Regis. Actually in a sad state.
Lobby bar had no real bartender, they dont even know what is a negroni.

We had a lovely time at the St Regis. The butler service was very helpful. We appreciated being upgraded to the lagoon room. It was soooo lovely! We ate at the driftwood restaurant twice. Cedric and David provided fantastic service and the food was delicious, particularly the fish dishes. Overall we had a relaxing holiday and we would definitely come back and recommend to all.

Lagoon rooms are perfect. The area is quiet and not crowded like further down the beach. The staff is absolutely incredible. Jean, Lucia, and Lily at Iridium Spa were lovely, Cedric and David at Driftwood were also highlights. The family pool is incredible and the food in every restaurant great.
The family pools are in need of some refreshing with many tiles falling off the side and grass over growing the area of the walkways. The hours for the restaurants listed was not what was reality.

Hope to have little bit more international food choice with acceptable price range.

the property is very nice, the garden is beautiful .
there is a construction side nearby, the whole day we had a lot of noise.

The gardens and the area of the hotel were very beautiful. The bedrooms were very clean and nice. The bed was super comfortable. Breakfast was good with good Asian and western options.
The cocktails and the service at the bar were terrible. The snacks and food served at the swimming pool and bar are also very poor quality.
5.0 / 10.0
Having stayed at other St Regis hotels and resorts around the world, we decided that the Yalong Bay property would be the perfect location for a last-minute, 5-night get away to Sanya.
Overall, it was a good stay with stellar aspects and others which were good, average or mediocre.
Stellar:
- Large, immaculately clean rooms with a fabulous and spacious deck area
- Very comfortable beds
- Lagoon pool access from the deck
- Wonderfully spacious bathroom with lush products and a deep bath
- Fabulously friendly housekeeping, a steady stream of towels and fresh water
- Beautifully maintained grounds
- Chicken rice through room service: highly recommended!
Good:
- The evening seafood bbq at The Driftwood restaurant
- Check out was seamless
Average:
- Famed St Regis Butler Service extremely slow and not anything more than one might expect from the concierge
- Location: quite isolated from other resorts and areas of interest (perspective dependent)
- Lagoon pool could have been cleaner and fuller
- Breakfast at The Social is a very large space, extremely busy and options are mainly local fare. Get there early or be prepared to queue at peak time. Given the current covid context, having the food covered at the buffet would have been safer considering the number of people breakfasting from the same items
Mediocre:
- No swim-up bar service (though there is one installed at the main pool)
- The beach bar does not exist, though advertised and included on the interactive map
- The staff at the Driftwood are inattentive
- Check-in was painfully slow, and made all the more frustrating that there were many members of staff aimlessly walking about
- The main pool is quite hot, and not a refreshingly cool dip as one might expect
- Limited English spoken by staff (given the international brand, this was surprising to us)
- Keeping peacocks in such a small aviary for the number and size of the birds
Tips:
- If staying in the lagoon pool access rooms, request an ‘end’ room (more deck space and pool privacy, although sound sometimes carries from the children’s main pool not too far across the way)
Overall, in terms of value for money and the expectation of an international 5-star resort, next time we would go elsewhere.
