About this house rental

Orchid Beach is a small village in the quiet north-east of World Heritage listed Fraser Island. It has fewer visitors than the busy southern end of the Island and is situated on the eastern beach just north of beautiful Waddy Point. Wanyari accommodates up to 8 guests including children. The house was completed early 2007 and has a relaxed, contemporary feel with living over 2 levels. Downstairs are 3 bedrooms (2 with queen beds and one with 4 singles), a bathroom, separate toilet, laundry, large TV / rumpus room and huge deck. Upstairs is open plan with a large, well-appointed kitchen with stainless steel work bench, dining area and leather lounge. The master bedroom is on this level with ensuite and separate toilet. All the windows from this level have spectacular views of the ocean, beach, sand blows, Waddy Point or bush. There is a large deck on this level with a spiral staircase that leads up to our roof-top viewing deck with some of the best ocean views on the Island from Waddy Point to Sandy Cape. Great for whale watching during the humpback migration between July and September, or just for sitting quietly at the end of the day with a drink. The house has been designed to be sensitive to the environment and runs on 24 hour solar power, gas appliances and beautiful Fraser Island water. There is a gas BBQ on the middle deck, a traditional wood BBQ for cooking all those mud or spanner crabs, pippies and a fish cleaning table on the property. There is plenty of room for parking 4WDs and boats. We provide 2 complimentary kayaks for guest use, Our grounds have many bird attracting native shrubs & manicured lawn. A uniquely beautiful destination where you can be as adventurous or as relaxed as you please.

The location is fantastic, house was beautiful, clean & easily accessible from the northern beach access ramp. Great native vegetation attracting lots of great birds. Awesome views especially from the top deck. Had the opportunity to meet the owners Dot & Graeme, fantastic helpful people. I would highly recommend this house. Kurt

Dot & Graeme were incredibly welcoming and forthcoming with information not just about the property but also about the Island and what to expect when we stay. The house is very spacious and has incredible views which allowed us to watch the whales too. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay again!! Loved every minute of it! Thank you!

Our family recently stayed at Wanyari, Orchid Beach for a special occasion and wish to thank our hosts Dot and Graeme for our lovely stay. The house was very comfortable and well equipped and both Dot and Graeme went above and beyond to help us make our stay and time there comfortable and trouble free. Great location with wonderful breezes which we were greatful of after a long day at the beach. Thank you both so much, we will definitely be going back one day.

We had a fantastic time at Fraser Island and with 3 toddlers staying in a house was ideal for us. The house had everything we needed and more than we expected and the upper deck had amazing views. The hosts are very lovely and we’re very helpful with assisting us during the February floods and communicated with us a lot leading up to our arrival. Definitely recommend staying. 10 stars.

What a wonderful place to stay. Has everything you need. It was clean and tidy. The view was so lovely. Has an amazing spacious kitchen plus a big bbq outside. Great lounge area for our large family. Will definitely be back.

We enjoyed our stay at Wanyari. Dorothy and Graham gave us great tips prior to our stay to ensure our visit was enjoyable. The house was VERY comfortable with 2 families having plenty of space. Great kitchen set up and the VIEW, just wow!!!

This is a premier property located at Orchid Beach with great amenities and beautiful view of the water. The property was very clean and presented well. Plenty of parking and we made great use of the kayaks and sleds provided. Thanks Dot & Graham.

We had a wonderful time at Wanyari House, Orchid Beach. Been to Fraser multiple times and alway stay at Orchid Beach. House was beautiful, clean, and had exceptional views of the water. We watched the whales from the upper deck. This house is amazing. Would recommend to any combination of couples, families, it’s all there. Our hosts Dorothy and Graeme were extremely helpful. Can’t wait until our next stay.
