Location was good. Owner was very helpful.
Motel needs a makeover to improve room and street appeal.
9.0 / 10.0
nice comfortable room for our family.
It was upstairs and the "free" wifi didn't work.
6.0 / 10.0
it was clean and serviceable.
very old style, exterior and interior was old fashioned. compared to other motels we stayed along the coast, it was quite expensive in comparison.
7.0 / 10.0
A basic motel with bed space for larger families.
While still very functional, the property is starting to show its age.

A 3 night stay in Room 1 at the Coast Inn - unfortunately that room is the front room to the main road in/out of Ballina area, so traffic noise, ie trucks, noisy motor bikes, emergency vehicles & sundry are heard all through the night. Unfortunately also, were the people in the next room, who I was later told were flood victims, so while sympathetic to their plight to be in a small motel rooms many months later, seemingly didn't sleep, had their TV running until 5 am for 2 nights, I could hear them talking during the night and hearing the door opening/closing throughout the night, when they went out to smoke.
After 2 nights with minimal sleep with traffic noise and neighbours, I asked if I could be moved to another room, but was told that only a family room was available for an extra $60 a night or thereabouts, which I didn't take up. The 3rd night was somewhat better from the neighbouring room, but the traffic was unchanged.
So all that aside, for $190 per night, there was no cupboard to hang a shirt or anything, room was quite small, the bed was on rollers and pushed away from the wall and just okay for comfort, had to wrestle with the shower screen to open it until I got used to it's quirky workings, everything was dated and tired (I can't remember seeing an older microwave than this one)
I stayed in a beautiful motel in Wagga several nights earlier, that was modern, clean, comfortable, modern applicances and 3 times the size room of here in Ballina for $127 p/n - I also take into account that Ballina is a coastal town in a holiday period, so pricing will be higher, but sorry not again

It was clean and comfy for the one night, walking distance to town and cafes. Receptionist was very helpful 😊
Smell and ashtrays of cigarette butts walking from office to room, even though they were on the outside . Very happy that our room didn't smell, would stay again.

Shower screen a little bit wonky and bed on coasters was a bit like sleeping on a skate board
