Convenient pit stop as we were passing through visiting family and then heading to Holyhead to get the ferry back to Ireland

Staff and restaurant everyone treated us very well, the mixed grill in the evening was superb
Instant coffee at breakfast, if a coffee machine was available for various coffees it would be much better, not sure if this was an option from the breakfast staff
4.2
The staff were very friendly and the room was warm and clean on our arrival.
Only criticism would be that the shower was a little snug but honestly, wouldn’t even worry about it

Greta service and heat food! Room was clean and well equipped!

The bed was comfy and it was fine for my requirements.
I wasn’t greeted on arrival and after waiting at the check in desk for a few minutes I had to go to the bar to ask them to get someone to check me in. I was told check in was from 2pm but when I arrived after 7pm my room hadn’t been made up. I was extremely tired from working outside all day and desperate to relax but instead had to sit in wet clothes for half an hour until my room had been made up. I was given a drink from the bar by way of apology but this was just completely unacceptable and very disappointing.

The restaurant and pub were comfortable and the outdoor seating area was really nice. I was really happy to see that they had several vegan friendly options for starter, main and dessert, which were all pretty good. They also had a vegetarian full English breakfast that could be made vegan friendly. The rooms pretty much looked like the photos and I found the bed was pretty comfortable.
The staff were all pretty helpful, but they seemed pretty busy most of the time. Maybe they were understaffed? The morning coffee was also a bit watery.

Room was clean and funtional, recently refurbished and tastefully done, staff were so accommodating and helpful
The only thing wrong was there was an uncovered door stop on the floor in room 6 which was sharp and would cut someone's foot if trodden on

The room was very comfortable , we were lucky to have a fan in the room as the weather was very mucky in the evening.
We picked the hotel for it's location to other places we wished to visit in the Derbyshire Dales, which were only short drives away.
At breakfast we were surprised to find that no butter was available., which my wife would have liked.
We arrived to find that there was no television, due to a lightning strike, This was fixed while we were there.

Friendly staff, welcoming and helpful. Great location. Lots of parking. Hotel well presented externally and internally.
The salad option wasn't available on the Monday evening meal and that's what I would have chosen.

Gorgeous place, except location 5 minutes from Bakewell. The room was lovely and very comfy bed! Everything was spotlessly clean. Exactly what we needed. The staff were all lovely and welcoming. We had an evening meal and then breakfast the next morning, food was all excellent! Highly recommend *****

We have stayed at this hotel 5 or times in the past and had been looking forward to revisiting after its major renovation. The room was better than before, as was the decor in the bar and restaurant areas. A beer garden had been added which was well designed and landscaped. However, the hotel for us had one major Achilles Heel (see below).
Clearly they had upgraded the background music system so it had tremendous power and a very big 'boom boom bass'. In our room you could hear the 'boom boom' through the floor continuously from 7.00 am until 11.00 at night. The one morning we had breakfast in the hotel and were again subjected to unnecessary overpowering 'music' (so loud we struggled to hold a conversation). The beer garden was also blessed with powerful speakers so that the lovely tranquil space was spoiled with the incessant noise. We spoke to the Duty Manager about this invasive music and we were advised that only the General Manager could take action but he was not present. He stressed twice that they were a "working pub and restaurant" and therefore we should expect this; we have often stayed in pubs (including our previous visits here) and have never encountered such loud invasive music. Clearly, paying £105 a night for room only in this establishment gives you no right to expect a quiet and pleasant stay - paying guests were obviously secondary.
WE WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN, OR IN ANY OTHER MARSTONS INNS.

The location and the restaurant were excellent.

Room 5 was really large , clean ,freshly decorated and well equipped with nice ensuite . Linen crisp & white and comfortable large bed . Absolutely no issues at all We were very pleased .
Room 5 is facing the A6 main road which is only 25 meters away So what would you expect ??
Room 5 is over the main bar and dining area For some reason they have bar music going from 7am until 10.30pm and the' noise' transmits thro the ceiling.
Recommend not to chose the full english breakfast as it a very small portion and expensive.

We stayed here because of the close proximity to Chatsworth and it had the small country pub and inn style lodging we were looking for. I had been wanting to visit the area for years and when we arrived for check in the property and surrounding area was so beautiful I got teary eyed. It really felt like a dream come true. The Inn is nestled next to a quiet stream and is perfectly situated to enjoy beautiful and expansive views from all sides. We enjoyed visiting with guests in the RV park and sat outside and enjoyed a hot cup of tea outside on the patio even though it was still a bit cool in the morning. We had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant both days and we enjoyed the food, staff and ambiance of the spaces.
We wished that we had spent the remainder of our trip here instead of moving on. We can't wait to visit again!

Pub was really nice inside all the decor and garden was lovely. GREAT LOCATION, Best nights sleep room clean and tidy
Unfortunately due to staff issues they closed the kitchen, so stop serving. Wanted a Sunday lunch but they sold out, asked a staff member twice where to leave the keys and never got back to me, sat waiting for someone to take my order in the end went to the bar and ordered. But that's just being picky I would stay again and recommend to friends and family

We stayed for 3 nights over Easter which was lovely. Our room was clean, spacious and comfy bed. We also had our meals here, breakfast and evening meals which were very good.
No complaints

I absolutely LOVED the decor throughout the whole of the property! I literally annoyed my husband all day 🤣 telling him how much I loved it!
Fab breakfast to start our day off. well worth having The Full Works I think it was called! It was yum! you could have the continental AND a cooked breakfast for about £9. It truly set us up for our day!
We stayed in Room 2, loved the decor… again 😂 v comfortable bed, loved it.
I was dubious about staying above a busy pub. BUT you can not hear the downstairs at all!
I can’t answer what I didn’t like about the property so I’ll say… I didn’t like that I couldn’t take the hunting scene chairs from the dining room and the curtains and blinds home with me 😂

Really friendly staff. Room was better than most we have stayed in. Food was good but very slow in being served.
I pre booked a table and was entitled to a 30 percent discount on main meals. I paid the bill but didn't realise I had paid the full price (I had a few pints with the meal) in the morning there was no one available to sort this out for me. I should have been given the discount automatically as our room and the discount were linked. So, check if you are entitled to any type of discount as it doesn't seem to be automatic.

The place was easy to find and had adequate parking. Reception was smooth and painless, and the room was perfectly adequate. we met with friends for dinner in the restaurant and were not disappointed.
The only slight letdown was that we were given overcooked poached eggs on dry toast in the breakfast room.
4.2
We had evening meal which was good apart from the long wait inbetween courses and any extras like a jug of water. Staff were very pleasant.
Evening meal took to long because of delays in between the courses.
