The pool and the music.
There was an overwhelming smell of mould. Even in the pool. It was everywhere. The kitchen needs a good bleaching and bowls, forks, teaspoons adding.

Nice pool
Restaurant was partly closed. When it was open, the food wasn’t really good.
Very noise rooms. The place was almost empty, but the other guest were placed in a room next to ours.

This is an awesome hotel! Firstly, the staff are super friendly and welcoming! The food in the restaurant was absolutely delicious and it's well worth eating there.
Our room was great and comfy, fast wifi, excellent air con and clean.
There's free filtered water to fill up your bottles.
The swimming pool was warm and the entire hotel and pool area was well looked after.
There's two beaches close by and we had secure parking at the hotel for our motorcycles.
Overall, highly recommend!!!

no food served between breakfast and 5pm so closest place to eat is hush, roads aroun can get very muddy when raining

nice beautiful open space with great pool
no kitchen utensils (eg: only one knife) and no social atmosphere
4.5 / 5.0
Spacious, relaxing, nice staff, good internet, and breakfast.
I was very surprised that for 55USD they do not provide a towel for the single room

Selina is great value for money for the ROOM. But beware, they'll screw you for other services. Everything they offer from beverages to activities are at least as expensive as what you'd pay elsewhere, but it's almost always significantly more expensive. Which is maybe fair, but avid hostel visitors would expect a hostel to be sort of "your friend that helps you navigate the local area by showing you how not to get screwed" kinda. Selena is the screwer here. I've been to 3 different Selena locations, and it's been true for all. If you're fine with that and buy stuff elsewhere, Selena is a very fine choice!

pool area, proximity to Maderas beach, excellent staff
property in need of refurbishing, food & drinks expensive & poor quality

the way is not good and there are few things to do in the hotel.

This Selina hostel was one of the most beautiful we have seen: it has a nice pool area and the accommodations look very pretty. They also offer free yoga in the evening.
The standard rooms are quite simple in that doors are very heavy (and don’t close well), the front door had to be locked to close it (which is a minor hassle) and the bathroom door shuts itself (which is inconvenient).
However, we received an upgrade to the Suite+ room. This was absolutely the best room we got in 4 months of traveling: spacious, balcony, etc. Just fantastic!

everything was good

Really nice rooms. Nicest room I have been in so far during my two months of traveling. The AC didn’t work so we got an upgrade to a room with own bathroom which made the whole experience much nicer.
The swimming pool and area around it could use a touch up, looks a bit old and could use some nice beds for example to relax on
Food in the restaurant is quite expensive and snacks in the small store are ridiculously expensive

The looks of the Hostel were quite nice. The Yoga deck was fantastic and the area near playa maderas was also very relaxed.
The shared kitchen was a big dissapointment. No coffee machine, no normal drinking glasses (only coffee cups or plastic cups) and it ways filthy and not enough space in the fridge. I book Selinas for two reasons, the cool activities (which were mostly canceled here) and the good Wi-Fi and free coworking (for the coworking they charge you now $5 extra per day....)

Nice clean room with AC and a hammock outside.
The barkeeper has made some intrusive comments, which bothered us.
The staff at the reception seemed very unmotivated and has not been very helpful for our questions.
The Hostel is quite far away from San Juan del Sur and therefore you have to take a shuttle which does not run at the indicated times.

loved this place. it was cozy and the pool
was really nice. private rooms and also dorms were good.
loved the yoga classes in the nice shala from
Steven.
it was not so busy so that was why most the activities were not happing, unfortunately, beacause I really wanted to join them.

Location is far from town

a great hostel, nice pool and sociable. rooms really nice and clean. surf beach a short (but steep!) walk away. nice new surf boards for rent that they rent you from the beach so no need to carry!
very limited vegetarian food on the menu and no desserts, not a huge problem but it was quite remote so going other places to eat was quite limited!
