Clean inside and charming. Friendly and helpful staff. Pillow selection for hire at side of elevator. Breakfast pretty good if you know what you are doing. Bedroom pillows are heaven. I would definitely stay again.
Room was real tiny, found it difficult to get to the bed. The toilet area was real small and difficult to get into. The hot spring was small, but done well.

excellent location
rooms were incredibly small. we had very little luggage but it barely fit in room
no space in room to just relax
Also the breakfast options were minimal and not very good

Small but amazing hotel in the heart of Takayama. The hotel is located a few minutes walk from the railway station and the downtown. The check-in was fast and easy, the staff explained in detail all facilities and services offered by the hotel. The room was tiny but comfortable, very clean. The breakfast was simply amazing, with many different dishes and drinks to choose from. Last but not least I really enjoyed the hotel hotel springs at the ground floor.

Sanmachi-dori and Nakabashi Park are close. It’s more nice to walk around the street. The food was delicious. The hotel staff were very accommodating. It was my first time to stay at a hotel where you can choose your own pillow! Also, free coffee!
It would be nice if they had a dresser with a bigger mirror. Not a small foldable one.

It's very close to Takayama station and walking distance to the "old streets" making it a great location
Toilet is a squeeze but clean.
Breakfast is 6:30-8:30 but when you go at 8:00, sorry there is nothing much left and they don't top up, saying breakfast ends at 8:30. Even basic item like grilled Saba there is no more, they served canned sardines. Other than coffee and tea, there is nothing else to drink, no juice.
There is always nobody at the front desk when you need to ask for something, no bell to ring either.
Ladies bathing times are always during mealtimes 7-9:30. Perhaps they could alternate it sometimes.

We like everything. One of the best hotel I used so far. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 The buffet breakfast was awesome! There's a lot of variety of foods. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
The room for three person is little bit small for us. But it does not really matter. The service was so good.

Location was great; very near the station/ bus terminal and a short walking distance from the attractions. Hotel was clean and I got a room at the end of the hallway which made my stay very peaceful and quiet. Breakfast was simple but convenient and helpful, especially when it was the new year period so many shops in Takayama were closed. It was nice to have a bowl of hot soup in the middle of winter too. They give ladies a gift set (facial mask, hair tie, mouthwash, some relaxation sheet, etc) upon check in which was a nice gesture.
Perhaps I had too high an expectation of the public bath from reading the reviews, and from my experience at another hotel in the area where I paid money to get into their public bath. The public bath at this hotel is very basic, just a small pool of water with no system to change/ filter the water so whatever you see floating in the water stays there till cleaning time. The same public bath is used for both men and women at different times of the day. Also, every guest is only entitled to one set of towels. They don't provide towels for the public bath so you've to bring your towel from the room to the public bath (at 1st floor) and bring it back to your room. I thought I was better off drawing a bath in my room instead. Also, the staff can't quite speak English, which was a surprise considering how the area is such a tourist spot. I did see a lot more Japanese guests than foreigners though.

Close to the station and old town heritage.
We're first introduced to an uncleaned room. The staff apologized to us like a robots and then the next room we got was not that clean.
I do understand they're not happy to work on holidays, but they shouldn't give us robotic hospitality.
