Rooms are a little dated.

We had a very restful & enjoyable mid-week stay at The Ship Inn. The staff were welcoming friendly & attentive. Our room was clean, comfortable, cosy & warm. The food was excellent and breakfast was especially plentiful & set us up nicely for a day's walking. The vegetarian bacon was a nice touch & unlike most I have eaten at other places, it was very good.

location
slightly basic, probably needs updating in some areas

A very nice, comfortable and pleasant place to spend a few days. The staff were exceptionally friendly and warm. A lot of attention was given to our requirements.
It was not easy to find parking space near the hotel.
4.1
Good breakfast, a traditional no frills pub. Staff are very friendly.
Could do with a revamp, decor is old. It is what it is, good value for the money.
4.1
Well above expectations. The staff were all very welcoming and the service was very good. The food was good quality and good value for money.

I have stayed at the Ship before & it’s because it’s so good is why I came here again, that says it all.
I can’t think of anything.

Made to feel very welcome. Nice finishing touches, shower cap, soap, body lotion, bottled water, tea, coffee and biscuits etc. Good home cooking. Amazing full English breakfast.

It was on a main road that made it a bit noisy but apart from that very good. Great welcome, excellent beer, good food (dinner and breakfast).
It suited is well.

The staff were very friendly - especially the breakfast team. The room was fine - although we felt maybe the furniture could do with being moved around! The bathroom was very clean. The breakfast was excellent.
We were told the car park was full but there were only two cars in there! So we had to park in the (very close) public car park behind the pub. This was OK but a bit of a shame that they had a car park and we couldn't use it! The kitchen was closed by the time we arrived, but we could have bought food from nearby takeaways if we wanted.

A traditional inn with easy access to the New Forest. Friendly personal and a very good breakfast. The food served in the pub was very good and reasonably priced.
Parking is nearby but is expensive for open parking - not what one would expect in a country location.
4.1
The room and bathroom were clean. The location was central with the car park directly behind the pub. The breakfast was great, with a choice of cereals, toast and full English including vegetarian. Great quality and plenty of it. The staff were all friendly and helpful.
I think if you are a light sleeper it wouldn’t suit you. This is because the noise from the pub below. The stairs are also quite steep, so if you struggle with mobility it wouldn’t be for you.

My Gluten free needs were met in the highest way

The room we had was a brilliant size. We had a lounge area, huge wardrobe and bed, a big TV and an ensuite with bath. Tea and coffee making facilities with plenty of choice and biscuits
We were worried that it may be noisy as the lorry traffic travelling through the highstreet could be heard when we arrived in the room. At night it was not at all and was very quite.
The bed was very comfy and the side tables had plug cubes with usb ports too so very handy for phone etc charging.
The toilet was a little loud when flushed as a sanisystem however the wall poster about flushables made me giggle!
Our stay included breakfast which was a choice of continental or Full English/ adjusted to taste with cereal and toast with spreads also available. We ate in the pub before staying and had a good meal and drinks which were good value. We only stayed 1 night but would recommend to others for longer and ourselves if we return again. The Ship we found to be a friendly with both staff and the locals to be welcoming its in the centre of village. There are a number of other pubs and restaurants nearby to try too although The Ship was, we felt the nicest and most friendly. Also it had the best food compared to other pubs even if the view is not as pretty as one of the others we visited. There is a huge car park that spans across the back of most of the shops and allows parking directly behind The Ship.
Its an old building so the staircase is tight and pretty steep so if you are not able to use stairs this is not the place for you! Otherwise is fab!

Cooked breakfast was ok but the scrambled egg was not very nice.
The dining area is a bit gloomy and would benefit from being better lit, in all a slightly depressing start to the day.

The staff were excellent. The breakfast was perfect.

Excellent food and drink. Friendly and helpful service. Central location.
Room was only just large enough and there was a pronounced slope to the floor, but we accept that this was an old building and the room was adequate and comfortable.

really liked you were maxed to feel welcome in this lovely old pub
stairs did have hand rails but maybe unsuitable for people with limited mobility

A real gem of a hotel. Room was spotless and breakfast superb with a lovely lady asking us what we would like and delivered it, really impressive. Our evening meal was excellent as well. Have paid twice the price elsewhere and still not as good. It really made our break, thank you.
Nothing at all
