Right by the beach with free use of kayaks. Nice hammocks to chill in. Great location. WiFi works well. Staff and owner are really lovely. Beds are comfy and have their own fan. Great value accommodation in a little paradise.

The beds & pillows were the best, the most comfortable I’ve slept in a long time.
The wifi was super fast & reliable.
Location absolutely fantastic!
Pandora the owner was awesome, so laidback & friendly - thank you!
Other people staying there were also so cool.

Lydia was so nice and very accommodating. The location was so close to the beach. There were beach chairs, kayaks, snorkel equipment and more, free for guests. There were many hammocks that were great to relax in. I met amazing people and the vibes there were fantastic.
Great for solo travel. Great vibes. great for the price

The space was clean and comfortable. My favorite hostel ever! Free kayaks and snorkeling were very nice. Close to "Main Street", the Pier, shopping, restaurants and the beach was right there!
I can't think of anything I didn't like

Lovely dorm with comfy beds, each with individual fans, plugs, lights and shelves. Lockers to use as well. Great kitchen and common area and a thirty second walk down to the sea. Lovely stay.

Good price!
The hostel is very close to the beach (maybe 80 meters), and close to the harbour (5 min. To walk) - you can swim there or making some tours. Also 3 minutes walk to the main street with all restaurants and shops. And about 10 minutes away from the bus station. :) The kitchen has a big fridge for all guest.
The dorm is very big. It invites you to talk to each other. So you can meet other backpackers there very easy! Either you got small or a big locker for your stuff. Every bed has a fan
Free Towle available.
A local young man stayed at the hostel. He masturbated and watched gay porn. He looked often to me while he masturbated. I felt very uncomfortable. I told that the owner. But it seems so that she wasn't really interested to deal with it. First she thought about to make the price higher about 50 bzd per night. So local people can not pay that hostel. That is very unfair for all backpackers. The owner told that there are sometimes problems with the local peoples. But her Hostal is so cheap that local people can use it as well. (that is a good and thankful idea!)
Next day the owner didn't want believe me! She asked me if I was sure what I had seen. It felt so that I was a liar. I was not the only person which saw him masturbated. She tried to seem so that I have something against gay people. But it isn't so, because I work as sexual educater and work with queer people! That makes me sad! I approve for Masturbation and any sexual activities, but not in a dorm - in the front of other guest!
It seems so that the owner is a bit overloaded and loose control of her business. She also didn't give any information to her stuff, so I get asked if I still paid the nights in the dorm a few days later after checking out. I always pay my payments!
There is no privacy space (no curtain). No small lights at the bed and not every bed has electricity for charging phones or something else.
It is very loud there. The owner lives above the dorm. You can hear everything - often after 2 a.m. That was not nice. Sometimes it was scared, because it sounds like somebody get pushed on the ground or something else.
Workers often coming in and out. They also going to the dorm. If you don't have a big locker for your backpack it could be unsafe.
Also a worker asked me a lot of question about the women in the dorm. He was interested to the female guest. That isn't professional!

Lovely little hostal located on the beach.
A simple 10 bed dorm with lots of space for everyone.
The kitchen was useful and the staff/owners were always at hand to chat with. Very clean and several useful equipment to use - canoe, bbq hammocks.

- Mere footsteps away from a fairly quiet beach
- Reasonable cost per night
- Hostel is cleaned daily
- Fan for each bed
- Decent kitchen amenities
- Had a strange experience with one of the local guests being caught by two other guests 'servicing' himself in the bunkbed below me in the middle of the night. When the owner was approached with this information (and also told about the inappropriate conversations from the same guest), the owner seemed somewhat frazzled with how to deal with the situation and did end up removing him from the dorm. However, the owner made some odd remarks that insinuated there was an element of racism in our complaints which was unsettling and inappropriate. She also accused one of the guests that caught the individual of being a liar until we told her more than one person witnessed the act. Apparently a local guest was also removed a couple of weeks before for inappropriate behaviour. I feel like the owner ultimately dealt with the issue, but she was visibly frustrated and seemed to take it out on the guests that reported the uncomfortable behaviour. One guest did receive an apology from the owner; two of us did not. It really lessened my whole experience in Placencia since I was always uncomfortable at the hostel after that. The owner definitely could have handled the situation MUCH better.
- Cockroaches in lockers
- Mouse crawling near ceiling in kitchen
- Construction began in kitchen as owner has termite issue (was loud and the construction workers harassed a couple of the girls at the hostel)
- Hammock was being used as a "dorm" bed which made it uncomfortable to hang out in that area
- This hostel is located under the owner's second level home which made the hostel noisy (could hear people talking loudly, dogs running on floor, banging well into the late evening)
- No shelves, personal lights, or plug-ins near each dorm bed
- Bunkbeds move a lot when people are moving around and is disruptive to sleep
- Owner also uses this hostel to help accommodate people who are working in the area so it has more of a temporary living feel than a hostel feel

The room is practically one room with 10 beds and it was easy to connect with other travellers.
WIFI worked well at the hostel.
There are lockers.
I appreciated the kitchen and the drinkable tap water.
Staff was friendly.
The hostel was clean at all times.
I didn't realise that the room has 10 beds, so it could get quite noisy early in the mornings. No shelf + power plugs next to bed and also no curtains for the upper beds.
There was nowhere to get changed in the showers without getting everything wet.

loved our stay! the location is ideal! the family who run it are so lovely! very cute and quirky hostel! would recommend - right on the beach!

Excellent location, right by the beach. The kitchen is well equipped and the dorm is spacious. Lidia was an excellent host and looked after us really well, we kept coming back!

Steps from the beach, kitchen, hammocks, free water refill, great staff. The location is also in a great part of town. Check out Merl's Cafe! Best restaurant and pastries in the town by far.
1 big room with 10 beds will always cause problems - some people leaving at 5am, others coming back drunk at midnight. Is very very hot in the room. There are bedside fans but their "low setting" is like a tornado. Didn't get great sleep.

So homely and relaxed, very clean. Friendly owner.
Nothing.

Super friendly and helpful staff. Excellent beach location. Comfortable beds. Good kitchen facilities. Nice hammocks.
Would be nice if the bunks had privacy curtains, and filtered water was available for guests.

Great location, staff were sweet and accommodating, kitchen was welcome (but lacking a few things like knives and sugar - the stuff that looks like sugar is actually salt and it doesn’t taste good in your coffee!), free drinking water straight from the kitchen tap and a cold bottle of it in the fridge, hammocks, right on the beach front. Staff were very kind, accommodating and helpful. They didn’t mind when my bus didn’t turn up so I couldn’t arrive til the next day and they kindly let me leave my bags until I came back from a tour. They also gave me a towel, which was so lovely as my travel towel isn’t that nice. They made suggestions for tour operators and there was loads of information on travelling Belize and into Mexico and Guatemala in the kitchen/dining area.
I was on my own in the dorm, which was a shame as I wanted to meet people, but that meant I didn’t have any privacy issues. I think I would have had a problem with the mixed shower room as there is nowhere to change or get privacy because the dorm room is also mixed. The shower curtains are quite flimsy and exposing, but at least the cubicles are big enough to take your clothes in, if you can find somewhere to put them, as there are no hooks.
There were cockroaches, but I guess there would be!
I was eaten alive by insects, but that’s not their fault. They weren’t bed bugs.
I prefer the sheets on a bed to not be red as to me (a seasoned backpacker who’s been around the world staying in hostels) it suggests they’re hiding something!
There was a fan for each bed, which was good, but it wasn’t cool enough for me. They’re also really noisy.

Perfect place to stay in Placencia!

It was right on the beach and in the heart of Placencia
A very small kitchen, no microwave and the coffee machine was broken. The place felt very crammed with full house plus some people camping outside but still using all the hostel facilities

Location On the beach on the beach was excellent. close to shops and stores and a great fruit and vegetable stand.,
They cleaned nearly every day. Some light bulbs were burned out and they changed them immediately when I mentioned it to them.
They need to inform people that there was no hot water available at all. If it had been 85 degrees I wouldn't mind the cool water but the days I was there were windy and around 72degrees. I filled a bucket with boiling water and added cold water to bring the temp to a regular shower temp. I was only then able to wash my hair and shower properly, well almost properly. I used a cup to rinse off.
