Great outdoor space and super nice staff. Would be a great place to go with s group of friends! Very close to one of the best beaches in La Paloma
A bit further from the center, but you can rent bikes at the hostel

Pretty hostel with a very nice communal space including a little bar and pool table. You can also rent bikes at the property. The family running the hostel are very nice and so helpful. There is a beautiful beach about 3 mins walk and plenty more about 15 mins cycle away.

Mir hat die Einfachheit und das unkomplizierte Leben dort gefallen.

The couple was verry nice, breakfast is amazing and the garden incredible!

The staffs are super friendly and their dog Mandela is cutest living thing in this world! The tent was fantastic and was dreamy. The pizza 🍕 she made was delicious and I would rate this place 10/10. Must visit place with your friends gang as it’s a chilling place .

- location, breakfast, staff
- not a lot of bathrooms for so many people
- quite loud in the evenings with music, our room was next to the reception.

Charming place, great atmosphere, and attentive owners.

Absolutely fantastic stay at La Brujula. Definitely one of the best hostels I’ve stayed in. Rooms very lovely, very clean with individual lockers. Showers were great, with consistent hot water and were kept very clean as were the toilets. There’s a great communal space to relax and the hostel is very close to the beach. Staff are all lovely and very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent too. Overall an amazing experience and very good value for money!

The hostel has plenty of nice areas to relax and socialize, benches, chairs, hammocks - wonderful to meet new people.
All staff members are very warm, friendly and try to help you in any way they can.
The dorm beds are comfy, extra blankets are available. The room has a sufficient number of sockets.
The breakfast is amazing! The kitchen is more or less outdoor, equipped with plenty of pots and pans and usually clean and tidy.
One tiny little thing: the sponge and the kitchen cloth could be exchanged more often
Unfortunately the bikes are not free anymore if you want to use them shortly for grocery shopping (as mentioned in other comments).

This hostel is the best I've stayed at so far in south America. Everything about the place was amazing - so eco friendly, and a really wholesome family vibe about the place. Also somehow the cheapest place we stayed at, so couldn't ask for more. Staff were always lovely, even though our Spanish was limited. Highly recommend

What not to like! The hostel is a very nice space 100 from the beach. Sergio, Gabriela and their son are down to earth and honest people. They have created a gem with their own hands! They also grow their own veggies that can be purchased by guests. All facilities are good and breakfast is the best one I have had in my time in Uruguay.
It s a place where one can meet and enjoy time with the other guests in the many different areas of the property or chill out and have some solo time
I d defo stay again...no questions asked!

Such a funky and cool beach side hostel! Laid back vibes with a hippy touch to the aesthetics...
Owners were lovely and the breakfast every morning was a nice touch!
High recomend for your next chill beach adventure xx

Really nice and comfy common spaces. The attendance from the owners is exceptional, they make you feel like at home.

Excellent breakfast and attention from the owners. You feel at home, it’s really nice to hang out at the hostel or cuddle with the cat

The breakfast was great. So far one of the best I've had in various hostels. The owners are very likeable persons, who run the place with their heart. By night the hostel changes to another place. The huge patio is dunked into Comfy lights and by the kitchen there is nearly every night a bonfire. I've had a great time there and recommend this place 10/10

A really great hostel. Fantastic common areas with lots of sofas, tables, and best of all: hammocks.
Gabriella and Sergio were terrific hosts. Gabriella really helped me out with a difficult transportation puzzle.
Really nice "build it yourself" breakfast.
I had double room - small but well designed, a lot of shelving and hooks, and spotlessly clean.
The location. The only knock on La Brujula is that it is 4km from town and there is nothing nearby in terms of restaurants or grocery stores. They have two beat up bikes you can borrow, or nice bikes you can rent (for very cheap, I think). However, given the location, I think making all the bikes free of charge would be nice.
They make the best of their remote location: Gabriella makes great pizza and empanadas and they have a full bar with a lot of variety. Prices are very reasonable - so you can survive there as I did one day when I just hung out and got stuff done.
