This place is gorgeous. The villas are set out in the style of a French colonial village surrounded by forest, gardens and lily ponds and with immediate access to the beach. Spacious, cool airy spaces with mosquito nets over super-comfy beds, every amenity, back and front verandahs for sitting out. Birdlife, black squirrels, Tokay geckos and Butterfly lizards abound.
The public spaces - reception, restaurant, beach bar and pool bar as well as guest villas are beautifully designed and furnished with the owner's fabulous collection of Indochine Art Deco furniture and objects. It's all serene, elegant, a joy to be around. The swimming pool is also very beautiful, both to swim in and laze by. It has a Happy Hour with proper cocktails.
As an added bonus the hotel gives you instant access to the easy 90 minute hike along the beach and over the hills on a National Parks trail to Dam Tre Bay with excellent snorkelling.
Breakfasts were all superb; dinner varied a bit - excellent the first night, good the 2nd and 3rd, but service was invariably first class and drinks including wine are reasonably priced.
General service is solicitous and caring without being overbearing.
We stayed here for 3 nights after 3 at Six Senses. Poulo is not only a fraction of the price but we very much preferred it. We wished that for the Big Treat part of the trip (it was my birthday) we had spent the money at Amanoi South of Nha Trang rather than at Six Senses. Much more sympa. We also explored The Secret in town and the Orson - Poulo is the one to go for.
Nothing.

Lovely, friendly staff who went above and beyond to make our stay special. They brought me cake for my birthday with no prior prompt. Rooms were spacious, with comfortable beds. They easily arranged taxis, transfers into the town and a lovely trip to the floating restaurant. I sprained my ankle and a staff member accompanied me to the clinic to help translate and make sure I was ok, which was incredibly generous, kind and beyond expectation. The grounds were very serene with lovely mountain views and good wildlife all around - flying foxes, drongos, macaques, herons and more. We had a great stay.
Check the weather before you go as it can be quite windy and the private beach unusable in the early part of the year, but this didn't spoil our stay.

Beautiful relaxing resort, colonial style buildings right by the beach. Very friendly, helpful staff, nothing too much trouble. Lovely pool in peaceful setting, with views up to the hills. Really enjoyed taking a moped round the island
The price is high for what you get. And the town is far enough away that you mainly eat and drink at the resort - quite good, but much more expensive than most of Vietnam.

rooms: spacious and beautiful
beach: clean (compared to all other beaches) and a couple footsteps away
brrakfast: fast choice and delicious
the restaurant was good but not great. yet still the best food we had on the island.

Amazing location on the island, very quiet and no hustle. Beautifully designed rooms, great spa facilities and nice stretch of beach. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. FYI - 20 minutes drive into the town, there is a shuttle or you can get a motorbike. There are hiking trails off the resort, plenty to explore. If you are looking to treat yourself and simply want to unwind and relax, this is the place for you.
In this price category, I would have expected the food to be a bit better. Breakfast is great, but dinner dishes left me a tad disappointed, there is plenty to chose from so I might have picked the wrong dishes…

Everything was really great during our stay! All of the staff were kind and helpful. Perfect getaway!
The resort is a little ways away from the downtown area but there is a shuttle that takes you there. You can also rent a motorbike and drive around the island, and park at the hotel if you wanted.

staff - villa
the property is located on a beach full off rubbish
4.5
the room itself is a highly, v generously spacious yet cozy
the a la carte main for breakfast is good, sufficient selection but not overwheleming
the lotus and waterlily ponds are gorgeous,
Beach is clean and safe
the limited tv channel selection and absence of netflix is disappointing
the outdoor shower is rusty and doesnt work well
the in room wifi had been frustrating on the first night, fortunately your technician helped
the view from the beach bar can be much improved, now very confined
why is there no signature dish of the resort?
why no suggested spiritual activity like yoga or meditation or intro to bird or plant species in the resort
also the antique furnitures and paintings, procelains look interesting, could have done an intro

Staffs were super friendly and helpful. Food's are surprisingly descent. Decorations in the resort is amazing. All the good things!
Nothing really to be picky about.

Sensational location on its own private bay; stunning infinity pool with gorgeous views of the mountain; beautiful private villa with huge tub, outdoor shower and enormous four-poster bed; great food and phenominal service from all of the staff - so sweet and friendly; amazing spa; we had such a relaxing time here
Sometimes the service at the beach bar was a little slow, but it’s all part of this place’s laidback island charm
4.5
Gorgeous French colonial style hotel in a beautiful setting. Huge rooms beautifully furnished and decorated. Stunning infinity pool. Very peaceful.
Food wasn't the best, although we were comparing to Six Senses! Staff didn't speak a lot of English
