We had three families stay at the house for a week and had a great time. Great location and the house is well appointed. And the property manager and host were both great, answering questions quickly and provided everything that we needed!

Can't say enough good things about this rental. Loved the historic feel of the home. Beautiful and spacious grounds perfect for running kiddos. Postcard view from the lanai. Easy walk to town or beach—the best of both worlds. A great home for groups, with three separate spaces (2 sets of two rooms on the main floor and a primary suite on the second floor). Abundant supplies for beach-going, including chairs, boogie boards, surf boards, wagon, even strollers. Nice, well-stocked kitchen. The highway noise didn't bother us, and the home was breezy and cool in the evenings, even without AC. The host was responsive and helpful. We hope to be back!

Awesome house with lots of character. Very comfortable for our family of 5.

This house was a wonderful place for a family vacation! The location was perfect, and the house layout was just what we needed. The place was well stocked with everything you would need for a Hawaiian vacation!

Loved this home! Great common areas for hanging out together and plenty of space for teens to escape! Road was definitely loud but the beach and town are both close. We read there are over 450,000 roosters on the island so we won’t even complain about them😉. The property manager, Hilary, was very kind, responsive and easy to work with!! I would come back to stay here again!

This home was comfortable, well equipped, clean and convenient to activities for our three generation vacation.

The house is in an excellent location in beautiful Hanalei, and is stunning itself. It was perfect for our large family group of nine people. Super close to the beach and shops. Hilary was a joy to deal with during the booking and check in process, and it was a treat to meet her in person when we checked out. A truly aloha experience.

The home was just as described with beds for everyone and lots of space for hanging out. The beach gear provided by the host was very good and we put it to good use. The beach was close and easy to get to and the teenagers enjoyed how close it was to town. We cooked in most of the time and took food to the beach for lunches. We really enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend this place.

Can't say enough good things about our stay in Hanalei. We will most certainly be returning to the Wailele Ikena house in the future.

We couldn’t have been more pleased with our stay at Hanalei Bay. This home is quality, pure Hawaiian, impeccable—inside and out—-full of amenities. The owners were quick to respond. We had the BEST experience so far with VRBO. Thanks so much!

The only thing that would have made our stay better would have been air conditioning, everything else was great.

What a special place. Loved our stay here in Hanalei at the Wailele Ikena house. We celebrated my moms 80th birthday together with family and made memories that will last a lifetime. Hilary was always helpful and quick to respond to us for any of our needs or questions. The location of the house is great we walked to the bay and rode bikes to the pier. Definitely looking forward to coming back again someday soon.

The ability of everyone having their own bedroom AND their own bathroom was awesome! There was enough space for everyone to have their own quiet time. The Master Bedroom upstairs was exceptional ! The kitchen was well stocked but really tight in space, making it hard for more than 1 person to be cooking in the kitchen at the same time. We also found the downstairs to be really dark (a little bit cave-like) compared to the natural light that came into the bedrooms. With all the dark wood and lack of natural light in the downstairs, it really was not as pleasant to hang as a family in the more common rooms. Also, the house is literally right next to the road / highway that runs through Hanalei. So, from a location standpoint, it was awesome due to easy access to town and the beach BUT the road noise was really loud in all the bedrooms and what was a nuisance was the trucks that went to the fish production locations across the street. You could hear the trucks backing out every morning between around 4am. We found the stove to be a little finicky too. The house was well stocked with beach gear, but I think it is time to replace some of the chairs and beach umbrellas. Again, the bedrooms, location to closeness to town and the beach were phenomenal, and I need to add the bathrooms were great as well, but there are definitely things that are not perfect which some of the other reviews do not call out.

We had an amazing stay at Wailele Ikena. This spacious, comfy house was perfect for us. We enjoyed family meals (fresh fish) & games at the large dinning table. The front lanai was great for reading & watching the kids play in the large front yard. The outside shower was a plus after beach days.
Town & beach were an easy walk for most of our party. I have mobility issues. The ride to the beach was minutes & we always found beach parking. The beach was spectacular and absolutely the best!
The pots could use an upgrade. There wasn’t any mustard, ketchup or oil, but the kitchen was certainly adequate. There were plenty of beach & bath towels. The boogie boards were a hit. The extra refrigerator and the outside clothes line was really helpful.
This house is a town house. The backup beeps from a forklift(?) and the roosters started right after 5am our first morning. The Hanalei main drag is in front of the house. The hedge/fence keeps the traffic noise to a minimum, & the beeps & roosters were easily ignored. We slept with the windows opened & the fans on! We slept great!
This was a first class house and we really enjoyed our 10 day stay! We certainly hope to come again! Thank you!

We are grateful for the opportunity to vacation in your family home. Thank you for letting us have use of the wagon, boogie boards, and other beach items. Love the outdoor shore! Everything was great!

This was one of our favorite places to stay in Hanalei. The walk to the beach was short and easy, and the walk to town even more so. There was plenty of room for everyone and the house was well stocked. Communication was quick and responsive. Hilary was wonderful in helping out. Can’t wait to visit again!

We can't say enough positive things about this House! The home itself is stunning and the location cannot be beat. It is a short walk to the beach/surfing and two minute walk to town/ grocery store.
There were six guys in our group on a surf trip and we had plenty of privacy and space with all the bedrooms and bathrooms. The home is stocked with every possible thing you could possibly need including surfboards, boogie boards, beach chairs, coolers on wheels etc. It even has an extra drink fridge in the carport which came in very handy.
The manager Hilary was very professional and made our trip seamless. We had a 10/10 experience!!!
We are already looking at dates for next year.

Our extended family spent two glorious weeks in this gorgeous house. It is a classic beautiful Hawaiian home with modern upgrades, wonderful beds, great kitchen, all the amenities. The cruiser bicycle was a hit. And Hilary, the property manager, is the best!!! Very responsive and helpful. Though we had the classic Hanalei rains, we were snug in the house. We could walk to Big Save Market in a minute, as we did sometimes several times a day. The beach is a quick walk away. It is a very convenient location, though there is some noise from the road and the poi company nearby. We all loved the place!!!!

This gorgeous home has amazing views of the mountains, beautiful teak wood floors and interior, beautiful bedrooms and a wonderful living room for family gatherings. It’s located a block or two off the beach and town and our family loved the ease of daily life while staying at the house. Very relaxing! It was also fun to enjoy the bounty from the fruit trees on the property. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Hilary, the manager, was helpful and available.
The house was well stocked with plenty of towels, paper products and kitchen supplies. Dining table was big enough for our Thanksgiving dinner.
I was a little disappointed that the beach was not as close as I had anticipated. The younger folk had no problem with the walk and were down at the pier everyday.
This was probably a once in a lifetime trip for me, I'm glad I found the perfect place for it

We stayed here with our two girls ages 2 and 4. They had so much fun sleeping together in the room with the two twin beds. There is a pack n play and high chair here and all the beach things including a wagon, sand toys, and unbrellas! This was a great stay for us - we would love to come back ,maybe with another family next time (this place is really big!)

The property is extremely comfortable and beautiful - lots of wood and interesting details. I don't think there is A/C but on the north side of Kauai in early May it was not needed. Breezes flow through the house very well. The kitchen is well equipped. The beds are comfortable. Sitting on the front porch watching the various birds (Red-crested Cardinals, White-rumped Shama, Warbling White-Eye) visit was quite nice when we were not out. It is very conveniently located. We could walk to a market, lunch and dinner options and to the beach.

This is our 3rd trip to Hanalei and first time staying here. We had our 4 kids and 3 grandparents with us so a big group. Beds were comfy, kitchen had everything we needed and lots of beach gear. Furnishings are in great condition and home well-decorated. The property manager texted me right back with answers to my questions and was able to accommodate a later checkout. Yard was a good size for kids to play in and beach and town access were a short walk. The only negative comment is the noise from the main road through Hanalei and the nearby Poi factory but it wasn’t a big deal. Thank you to Hillary for making our stay comfortable and easy.

We had the most marvelous and relaxing vacation. The house is perfect. We loved waking up to the sound of the singing birds and the location is ideal between the town and the beach!
The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed.
Thank you for sharing your home with us!

This listing lacks transparency. Nowhere does it mention that it is on the main road of town with traffic. Instead it reads the impression of a quiet sanctuary. The front porch faces directly to the main road, while a beautiful yard, the noise does not necessarily make a great place to decompress. Traffic is consistent from 6 AM to 6:30 PM throughout the house. House is open to outdoors so noises are plentiful. would’ve been very helpful to know these things ahead of time to bring appropriate preparations. Sleep was very hard to come by.Communication from the owner was self-absorbed, unpleasantly defensive and insensitive to the needs of guests.

Perfect place for a larger group. We had 9 guests total and the house was perfect. Large enough for everyone to have space, and plenty of beds but not so big that it felt overwhelming. We all love to cook and we cooked at the house often. The yard was great for the kids to run around and let off steam and there were even surf boards which our group loved. The bike tires were flat so we rented other bikes, and the indoor fridge was under repair so we had to use the outdoor one but those were minor inconveniences and we still had a perfect stay! The bedroom by the kitchen has the most traffic, so put your deepest sleepers there, but the rest of the rooms are pretty private and the mattress in the upstairs reading nook was a favorite of ours for naps. Enjoy!! We sure did!
