It is very close to Peddler's street and therefore accessible to a variety of shops. It also has a nice sea view.
The place has a very elegant design while maintaining the rustic atmosphere.
We booked the South View tower, but due to the weather, they upgraded ours to a Superiour partial sea view room.
The staff were very friendly and professional.
The breakfast is customizable, and the outdoor dining was very enjoyable in the morning.
The amenities were not great. Some of the in room instant coffee sachets were expired when we took the room, and some towels seemed very old.
These could easily be resolved with a call to the reception and, therefore, would not be a deal breaker

Loved this spot for its cleanliness, neatness, and the unexpected bonus of a room upgrade that gave us a lovely view of both the street and sea (we saw some small parade of school kids after full moon celebration - we had the best spot to watch). Since it's on a corner of the street, it's a bit noisy, though. We stayed for two nights and tried breakfast on the roof one day and in our room the next. Definitely recommend room service breakfast – it's way more comfortable and the view is somehow even better.
The hotel is a bit on the pricey side, but you feel like you're staying in a real, old historic building, which is a cool plus.
The hotel can get quite hot, and the AC doesn’t quite cover it, especially near the balcony where it felt like a sauna during the day. Morning is definitely the best time to enjoy that area. One more thing to note, the doors are quite old and have some gaps, which felt a bit unsettling. We ended up covering them with tissues for more privacy.

We had an amazing stay at The Bartizan. Everything was perfect.
The setting /location is wonderful and the hotel is stylish and understated.
A lovely spacious room, delightful breakfasts (both the Western & Sri Lankan were delicious, fresh and filling) and the staff were utterly charming. It was my friend's 50th and they made a cake and made it really special for her and also arranged a great driver to take us on to Yala National Park.
I couldn't fault the hotel or the staff and hope to visit again.
Nothing. It was a really special stay. We loved everything about The Bartizan.

This hotel is simply amazing. The location is perfect. You can hear the waves and within 50 steps you are on top of the fort walls and you can enjoy the sea view.
The hotel coworkers will help you in any way.
Rooms with the private balconies are the best. They are super spacious, very clean and have a great view.
The rooms on the ground floor are smaller but the small courtyard makes everything okay.
I would absolutely recommend this place

I love how Bartizan maintains a rustic, unassuming facade and delivers on top notch lodgings: spacious, thoughtfully appointed, and above all else, tasteful. Every member of the staff I interacted with was wonderfully friendly and knowledgeable, and our holiday definitely gained from these interactions!
The parking spots being public and outside the hotel premises had me a little worried at first, but no safety concerns arose.

Wonderful staff
Clean and roomy
Air conditioning - it was too hot at night. There was no overhead fan

Ala carte breakfast was really good and very well presented. The room was nice, we had to upgrade by paying more coz the one that we had booked was really tiny. The location is pristine and that is the best part about the hotel. The staff was very courteous and helpful.
The place needs a little bit of a makeover.

Hotel is at a good location. Right next to the beach and walking distance from all local attractions and easy access to food and beverage. The room I’m in is super comfortable and of a good size. The breakfast is good and the staffs are super friendly and very helpful. I even got my room upgraded! They are able to provide assistance for transport schedules and directions. highly recommended

cute but tiny tiny room. missed basic things like a safe.

Beautiful location, lovely old building, excellent breakfast and very friendly and polite staff.
Unfortunately the room I chose was very small ( south/ north tower for two persons. If you are traveling with suitcases, there is hardly any place to keep you suitcases and open it, so you have to open it every time to take something out, there was No storage space and a chair to sit. It’s good for the single traveller and short stay. The bed is not even queen, we adjusted somehow for two days. The windows were not soundproof so you could hear everything going around. I went with high hopes.

The setting, rooms, staff and amazing breakfast. Try the traditional Srilankan breakfast (milk rice) with the egg curry. best egg curry we’ve ever had. They also use SPA Ceylon products as toiletries which is fantastic!
Wish they did full lunch and dinner menu! Perhaps a suggestion is to include a nespresso like coffee machine.

My stay here was absolutely fantastic. The staff are incredibly helpful, kind and always smiling. They go the extra mile. I started my stay in the courtyard room which was lovely, but i wanted some natural light so moved up to the suite with a private balcony which was so beautiful. You can have breakfast and afternoon tea brought up there. It was my birthday while I stayed and the staff all sang to me and brought me a cake!! Excellent location for Pedlar Street & exploring the fort. Highly recommend staying here! Perfect.

Very nice staff and very good location for the hotel !
I know that the hotel price into Galle fort is high but I think that the price was too high for the room we had.

The mattress was so comfy! The family room was specious, with fantastic view. We love the place.
The property doesn't have a generator if there is a power cut.

Beautiful hotel, delicious breakfast and very helpful stuff
The price of the room in the tower was way too high. The bathroom is extremely uncomfortable to use because of the doors.

Very pretty hotel in Galle fort with helpful + friendly staff. Courtyard is every bit as lovely as the photos and the room's private terrace must have the best sunset view in Galle :). Highly recommended!

The hotel facility looks nicely renovated and offers a nice view from the roof top terrace.
The breakfast offered is brilliant and tasteful.
The staff was super friendly, helpful and welcoming.
The room was clean.
We booked a basic room towards the yard, however it did not offer any daylight nor any space to move. It felt a little like a cage.
The bathroom door does not close completely and leaves a wide gap (my hand fitted through) through which you can see and ear every detail. This made the stay a little unconfortable to us. Maybe these problems don’t evolve when you book an even more expensive room.

well, at the very beginning we considers the hotel being a bit outdated, but the more time we spent in, the more we realized it’s on purpose. call it patina.
breakfast comes in may colors and tastes…fruit, pancakes, eggs, local food….
but the best part of hotel is the staff. helpful at any time, always smiling and trying to be the best part of the hotel. love it’

The hotel is a stunning building, in the fort with amazing sea views. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They arranged covid tests for us to be taken at the hotel. The breakfast was the best we had in 3 weeks in Sri Lanka. We stayed in the North Tower and the private balcony with 180 degree views of the Indian Ocean and fort was unbelievable. You will not regret staying here, it was perfect.
Nothing at all!
