The location is really good. But like so many hostels on the beach. The room was a good size. Filtered water was available which was a huge positive.
This is a difficult one as for budget travellers there are really limited options in Rincon. The room ‘shared’ as aircon with the room next door so you had no way of turning it off. The room was damp and not very clean. The hostel did not have any shared spaces. The price was ‘reasonable’ for Rincon but for what we paid it was below par.

Right on the beach & good price
Private room bathroom wasn’t clean (loads of sand in the shower) and hair. Room was “clean” however the smell was a mix of humidity & pee (?). Lots of noise from outside parties but also from an animal in the roof (was woken up 3-4 times during the night)

We travel for a living and use booking.com frequently. Hence, we are genius level 3 members with Booking.com which provides us some perks including discounts. We booked a reservation with booking.com at this place and received the confirmation email wth the accepted dates, price, as usual, However, this establishment, upon arrival, informed us they wouldn't accept the agreed price! What? We even forwarded the accpted and confirmed email to them. Nope. The owner wanted more money. She ignored the previous confirmation. INCREDIBLE. Never has happened before and it shouldn't be allowed to happen again!
In addition to the dishonesty of this establishmet, we were totally dissipointed with the place. The bed was uncomfortable as it and the pillows were quite lumpy. See photos, hopefully you'll be able to see the poor shape of them. Can you see the stick that is used to hold up the shower curtain? Did you notice the lack of a mirror in not only the bathroom but the whole room? There was also no internet, despite saying it is available. There are also photos showing the stained and holy walls. How's that photo for a beautiful toilet? This is far from any highly rated room we have stayed at. I have no idea how they obtained good reviews. This place, at best, is six, maybe a 6.5 room. But with the dishonesty, obviously this place does not deserve a 6. Avoid it. There are a lot of other places to choose from, and we will choose elsewhere next time for sure.

Staff was not very welcoming. The couldn't care less. There were cockroaches and a lot of Moskitos in the room. There was Black mold in the room also. And the WiFi didn't really either.
Wouldn't recommend to stay in this hostel. Worst stay during my whole Trip in colombia.

The location is great - right at the beach. The owner is very warm and friendly.
The level of hygene - very poor. It looks like the sink hasn’t been washed for a very long time and the room was not clean altogether. Also the common fridge is very dirty!
The facilities are quite outdated. The outside area is not cozy, but there are sunbeds.
At the end we choose to pay with the Paypal. The conversion rate the owner gave us was quite low (his currency was dollars and our euros), and an extra fee. This was not very friendly so we warmly recommend to take enough cash.

The location is amazing, you walk out of the front door and onto the beach. It had a communal fridge for everyone's use.
The aircon was fitted halfway through the wall (so shared by 2x rooms) so it didnt really work that well and it's HOT! The electricity cut off randomly (this is the whole town though so you will have this issue regardless of where you stay). Shower was just a trickle. It looked like the majority of places in Rincon were just as rustic so a more expensive place may not necessarily be better.

The location is great - but so is the location of all the other hotel/hostels on the beach front.
We were there for 5 nights. There are a few things that were very disappointing to us and which leads to the fact that we don't find Casa Madriguena very good value for money.
- We had no reception when we arrived. AT ALL. We were just shown our room and handed the key. They didn't say anything about what time we could have breakfast, what activities we could do,... Just nothing.
- There were no towels in our room. We had to ask for them ourselves.
- There was no spare toilet paper in our room. When we ran out, we had to go and ask for a new one.
- Our room was not cleaned during our stay. When you're right next to the beach for 5 nights, it would be nice to have the sand removed from your room every 2 days or so.
- On our last evening (!) we were told that there was free drinking water in the hotel. When we asked for something to drink during lunch at our first day, they told us they only have beer. We went to buy like 4 plastic bottles of water each day. This shouldn't have been necessary if they just had communicated better from the first day.
- WIFI was off for a couple of days, but when it returned they didn't want to give us the wifi code. They kept saying that there was no signal, while we have met some other locals who said the wifi was back up and running. During our last day they finally gave us the wifi code.
To conclude: the communication was really bad. We don't speak Spanish so there was a language gap but they didn't even try to explain/help us.

The location was really the only thing I liked about this accommodation
We were moved from the room we booked after one night, apparently the same room had also been booked, but after ourselves. We feel that this was due to us having been given a Booking.com discount for multiple bookings. We feel the accommodation owners moved us to a smaller and cheaper room because of this! We were moved from that room to a smaller room with poorer facilities, and a tap/faucet that didn't work, it left a large pool of water in the bathroom. It was fixed however. The room had an entrance door off the main hall right next to both a washing machine and a water pump, both of which we asked to have turned off whilst we occupied the room. The shower had two pipes from the top of the cubicle, and due to my height, it was very difficult not to hit my head on these two fixed position plastic pipes. There was a large gap under the entrance door, which was made of metal, which allowed the light from the main corridor to filter in at night until switched off. But the main issue with the room was the noisy guests who were clearly enjoying many beers on the beach, and were not considerate to us in the room closest to the beach. It also seemed that the manager of the accommodation wasn't prepared to ask these guests to keep both their voices and their music down, and I had to remind them starkly that we were trying to sleep at 3.30 in the morning. Not what you expect for a room that was in a shared accommodation unit, nor from a manager who was in fact enjoying the company of these same inconsiderate guests. It should be considered that for the inconvenience of both room problems, we were given breakfast on two occasions gratis.

Right on the beach. Perfect to disconnect and chill.
Hosts were sweet and food was fresh and amazing.
Can only recommend.
Sometimes no electricity (and no wifi) but that has to be expected and accepted if you want to live in paradise.

Fernando/ Hernán & his partner were lovely & very helpful throughout our stay. The hostel is right in the beach in sleepy Rincón. Our 6 days there were extremely relaxing
