About this lodge
Location Location Location! Welcome to Life of Riley Lodge, a destination home with the rarest views in the entire area Yellowstone luxury home rental pool. Summer 2023 reservations are still available, but act soon as we book up fast this time of year when families gather during the holidays! (All pictures shown were taken in 2022)
Life of Riley Lodge is Yellowstone National Park's closest, best reviewed, most frequently booked, fully outfitted with no expense spared waterfront vacation rental - an "Ultra Luxury" VRBO property. Our goal is to deliver the ultimate in comfort and consideration, something surprisingly rare the Yellowstone area. With Big Sky, MT & Jackson Hole, WY both about two hours further from the parks main attractions, Life of Riley Lodge is the closest of all premier residences to the main (West/most popular) gate of the park. Included with your reservation we go far beyond what the competing area rental homes offer, providing a private 1on1 concierge vacation consultation and custom built trip planning web page for your group upon booking. To enjoy the Yellowstone area beyond the typical crowded tourist experience requires advance planning and insider knowledge of what to do + when and why. Born local to the area, we are uniquely positioned to help you create upscale experiences that most Yellowstone visitors do not even know exist. The best restaurants, secret Yellowstone tips, premium outfitters and guides for your boutique adventure. From private chuck wagon/sleigh rides, joining dinosaur digs, to romantic helicopter tours with private chef, let us help you arrange a perfect stress free vacation to the Yellowstone area.
The lodge is a nearly 40 yr old original Yellowstone style hand-scraped whole log cabin, completely renovated and constantly refreshed every year. (Annual Improvements in 2022 alone total $25K!) Spanning over 3000 sqft with 4 bedrooms and 3 baths sleeping 13 guests on 3 king size and 7 twin size TempurPedic mattresses. We are also among the less than 3% of Yellowstone area rental houses with air conditioning and one of the only rentals to provide trash removal service, electronic keypad locks (no lost keys!) plus a full exterior CCTV security system for your safety. Thin atmosphere = hot in summer so AC is a must for a luxury vacation. Most area rental agreements require "chores" -You must drop off all your trash at a landfill that is about a 1/2 hour drive each way-pick up keys from the local host-and spend the last day of your vacation laundering linens...inconveniences you will not experience with us, we don't even have cleaning fees! While there are a wide variety of options in the area, we are one of the only catering to discerning guests seeking a premium 5 star Yellowstone vacation experience that takes the rough out of roughing it.
Near the park boundary on the ID/MT border at an elevation of nearly 7000 feet, a legacy access property on the very exclusive North shoreline of Henry's Lake, not the small shallow stream inlets and public fishing areas where most competing "Henry's Lake" homes are located. Set between bucolic mountains, Henry's is one of the most renowned and award winning trophy fishing lakes in the country due to world class scenery and 2 state records for the largest trout ever caught! The Island Park Reservoir by comparison is much further away from YNP in a mostly flat valley frequented by motorsports crowds, a totally different experience. On quiet Henrys Lake you can enjoy trophy fishing, hiking, boating, horseback riding, or ATV/UTV/Rafting tours just 10 mins away. Contact us to learn more about the Yellowstone vacation you have been dreaming about.
Drive through the lodge's towering log gate and then immediately soak in the 360 degree waterfront and mountain views. Next, enter the cabin on the 2nd floor which opens to the Great Room and kitchen. The wood burning fireplace towers over two dueling custom American made Bradington & Young distressed leather sofas, the finest hand made rugs, 10-person Restoration Hardware dining set + three barstools at the live edge bar- enough seating for everyone to enjoy meals together. The chef's kitchen has new Miele appliances and is fully outfitted with literally everything you will need to serve a gourmet meal to all of your party. No expense spared. The nearly 30ft tall great room is the main gathering spot and the best room for jaw dropping views. Off the great room is a wide wrap around deck with Adirondack chairs and the first of our two outdoor kitchens.
Continuing upstairs on the 3rd floor is the loft and master suite. The cozy quiet loft is above the fray and is the perfect place to read a book or watch the wildlife on the lake with a massive panoramic view, this is perhaps the most relaxing place in the lodge. Past the loft is the master bedroom suite. Perfect for the small family with child and completely redone to the 9's with all new furniture, art, fixtures, a Tempur-Pedic king size and twin size captains bed all with matching Ralph Lauren bedding , the lodge’s largest suite is it's finest. Including En suite full bath with multiple head shower plus a large desk, charging ports and the fastest speed whole house WiFi available in the area - this suite has everything the vacationing executive will need. The other half of the suite is complimented by two tweed Churchill recliners and a new 43” OLED Fire-TV w/DirectTV. The king size bed is separated with a small partition wall from the twin bed for a little extra privacy, yet still open enough to one another so that parents can hear their little one through the night.
Back down to the main floor are two additional king bed suites with bathroom and additional laundry facilities: the Lodgepole and the Madison.
The Madison Suite has views of both the lake and Continental Divide mountain range, American made Woolrich and Ralph Lauren bedding, king size Tempur-Pedic Cloud, all new furniture and fixtures, bedside charging ports and 42" Streaming TV & DirecTV - easily the lodge's most masculine suite. This suite comes complete with walk in closet, built in vanity, black velvet lounge chair, and New Zealand Shearling rug.
Next, the Lodgepole Suite with views of the Continental Divide. Very much living up to the name, this larger suite is the lodge’s most rustic. Complete with American made Woolrich bedding, wide shearling rug, king size log bed w/Tempur-Pedic Cloud, sitting bench, lounge chair w/blanket, walk in closet with built in vanity and a 42" Streaming TV with DirecTV. This is the room to pick for a 100% authentic Yellowstone experience.
Down the stairs and located on the first floor is the Theater, 6-bed Bunk Room, 3rd bathroom, mud/locker room & extra laundry. The theater has a gas fireplace surrounded by a massive 250 yr old timber mantle, new Karastan carpet, and new furnishings. Decorated with a nod to adventure, science, exploration, and archaeology, the theater has a new immersive 75” OLED smart TV hung above the fireplace, Atmos surround sound system, DirecTV DVR with nearly every channel, and a new wireless retro arcade console with all your favorite games from the 80’s, 90's, 00's. Perhaps on those bad weather days the kids will not be the only ones playing video games!
Located behind the theater on the ground floor is the Yellowstone Bunk Room with a meadow view and 6 custom heavy and safe private bunks with built in individual charging ports/lighting - the perfect place to sleep the kids or extra adults. Featuring premium mattresses and custom lighting, no expense was spared on any detail. Warm Pendleton Woolen Mills Yellowstone Camp Blankets, fleece layers, & themed pillows adorn each bed, vintage metal and wood Yellowstone signs, and a giant Yellowstone Junior Ranger Fire Brigade themed locker room/dressing room-you won't feel like you ever even left the park. Adjoining the bunk room is a big multi-entrance bathroom with rain shower. The Bunk Room can help comfortably accommodate a packed house without the need to share beds. Including 2 slipper chairs, 43" Amazon Fire TV, and Playstation + tons of games, hi speed WiFi, and parent lockable DirectTV content. Life of Riley Lodge tries to go the extra mile by supplying a high-chair, baby gate, Pack'n'play, and enough active indoor and outdoor entertainment options so that your children are guaranteed to go to bed exhausted and content every night.
For our favorite part of the lodge though, look outside under the four giant shade sails and find the main attraction - the lakefront promenade. With a massive fire pit/bbq/lounge area and boardwalk/bonus deck, it's the largest outdoor area on Henrys Lake with steps that go right down to the water and a private beach. Kayaks, canoes, fishing gear, chopped firewood, and outdoor blankets/pillows/towels provided! 2nd outdoor kitchen with 2 XL grill beds, 2 stovetop burners, extra searing grill, lighting, mini fridge and prep table, Kamado Egg charcoal smoker/grill, duel 2-person hammocks & duel 150lb cast iron fire-pit pagodas surrounded by tons of adirondack chairs framed against 360 postcard views...you start to understand why the property is categorically superior to all others.
The fenced property bordered by mature trees is professionally manicured with lighting and is complimented by a long completely paved driveway to the highway (rare - no miles long gravel roads to get to OUR property), plus a sports court with new basketball goal. The entire view behind the cabin is the slopes and granite ridges of our section of the Continental Divide shelf. To the front of the cabin is the Centennial range and visible east are the Yellowstone and Teton National Park ranges. No other homes in the Yellowstone area have a view of all these mountain ranges except a small handful on our rare section of the north shore. As they say, location-location-location. We hope to hear from you soon!

This was a trip of a lifetime for my family. Thirteen of us were occupied very comfortably in this place. Very comfy beds and high quality sheets and bedding throughout. Kids had an awesome time outside and on the lake. Sarah is an amazing host.

The property was picture perfect and truly had all of the comforts of home. A huge thank you to the property owner for making our stay so pleasant. :)

From the moment we arrived at The Life of Riley Lodge we knew we were on vacation. The house was more than we imagined. The host had left the kids a surprise in the movie room-so special-. House was well stocked, clean, and ready for our adventure. We have stayed at many houses and never had a host you could call with a question and she answered the phone. Before we left she sent ideas about what to do (so helpful) and where to go. I had arranged with Yellowstone Wild for a guide. Laura, she knew where the animals were (one day) and Hot Springs, Bubbling Mud Pots and when the geyser's were ready to blow (another day) with a day to rest in between. I would never go w/o a guide. The house was in a great location for everything. The entertaining space by the lake is perfect to eat, watch the stars, and cook your smores. The kids used the games, canoe, kayaks and fishing gear every day, The house had everything you could want. Don't wait to book this house like I did. We could only get it for 6 nights! Would I go again YES!

Everything was amazing, every detail for a memorable stay was considered and attended to for our family of 6 adults and 4 children ages 2, 5, 7, and 8. The three older children LOVED everything: their room, the candy left for a movie night, the waterfront and kid sized kayaks, the board games in the Gear Room. The 2 yr old made himself at home, going inside and outside to enjoy the home and surroundings. We adults welcomed the opportunity to relax, read as possible, nap on the comfy sofas, enjoy the lake and the deck surrounding the main floor on three sides. The well equipped kitchen and outdoor grill stations encouraged creative meal planning, and the results were delicious. We are so grateful to our attentive, responsive hosts and their excellent housekeeper who had the home in perfect order for our stay. We all give "two thumbs way up" for Life of Riley. We hope to return!

Wonderful home for 4 generation plus 2 friends to celebrate mom’s 90th Birthday!! Loved having 3 levels to space out, 3 bathrooms, 2 decks, 2 sets of washer/dryer’s! Newly added gym was great, lots of games and everything you could ask for! Loved the vanity for makeup in rooms!! Wonderful host Sarah!! We cooked in for all meals..took sandwiches into park (they have coolers you can use too). Highly recommend this home. I’ve stayed at many VRBO’s and this one tops the list with communication, cleanliness, organization, well stocked spices, appliances (even a crock pot that we used to make chili while we were at the park)! Enjoy!!

The property was gorgeous and well stocked with everything we needed for our family vacation. We had a 4 year old, teenagers all the way up to grandparents and everyone had something to enjoy. We stayed up late playing board games and enjoyed coffee overlooking the lake in the mornings, roasted smores, grilled, fished and canoed on the lake. Everything was super clean and the beds were cozy. Yellowstone was just a few minutes drive but the property itself made the trip extra special. Sarah was quick to respond even when I texted her late at night. We loved every minute and can’t wait to visit again soon!

Life of Riley Lodge was perfection! My family ranged in age from 15 to 81, and we all traveled together from Tennessee. Hands down, Sarah was the best VRBO host I’ve ever worked with. She gave us suggestions for activities based on the age of my parents - all of which were amazing. From the rodeo at Meadow Vue Ranch to the guided tours in the park to the private chef that cooked for us one night, it was the trip of a lifetime. Life of Riley Lodge was the perfect place to come home to each evening. Thank you, Sarah, for helping make this trip so special!!

From start to finish Life of Riley Lodge was a wonderful experience. The property owners gave clear communication and were easily accessible when we had any questions. Every detail about the home was perfect. It was clean, and the kitchen was well stocked with spices, quality cookware, and appliances. The beds & pillows were very comfortable as well. The view was gorgeous, and the property had so many amenities to provide plenty of indoor & outdoor activities to keep our teens occupied. We thoroughly enjoyed this property and hope to be back in the future!

We had an amazing time staying in this wonderful cabin. Just relaxing on the deck or in front of the outdoor fires.
All the extras including outdoor blankets and games were there.
Thank you for making our family vacation one of the best vacations ever.

The cabin was just like the pictures and description. Sarah, the host, was awesome. She was there for us the whole-time answering questions and suggesting things to do in the area. We had a great time and felt very comfortable with every amenity possible. Having direct access to the lake from the property was perfect for canoeing, kayaking and fishing.

Well stocked, beautifully maintained home with a great view on Henry’s Lake. Easy access to Yellowstone. Great location if you want easy access to everything but still want a quiet place to get away. Owner’s of the property were very helpful in planning our trip and giving advice on things to see.

Wonderful quaint cabin for smaller families looking to head into Yellowstone Park. The owner indicated that this property works better for out of town travelers looking to visit the park versus those who are interested in Water Sports. The bathroom situation in the listing has been corrected to reflect the correct space. Highly recommend this cabin for smaller families. Loved every minute of our stay.......

Lovely home on a great lot by the lake. Lot's of activities and fun for a family with kids 7-14 years old. Located near Madison River fishing spots and West Yellowstone entry to the park. Great and helpful hosts that helped us sort through a DIY Yellowstone week. Highly recommended!!

Lake of Riley is a dream home for families visiting the Yellowstone/Teton area. Our families decided to plan a trip out West but were a bit late in finding lodging inside the park, and with multiple families traveling together we decided it would be more fun to stay in a home verse separate hotel rooms. When we came across LOR on VRBO, we were sold flipping through the photos of the lake views and outdoor equipment galore. As soon as we booked the home, Sarah offered to have video calls with us and made suggestions for various excursions while were were in the area. We spent 4 nights at LOR. We found the home very clean and comfortable. Sarah keeps the kitchen stocked with all of the spices, oils so we had gourmet meals cooked on the outside grill each night. When we arrived the kids ran down to the water and we immediately took off on the kayaks and canoes. The boys enjoyed fishing - but were unlucky finding any fish, but still had fun. The house faces a gorgeous mountain range and you can spot the Tetons off to the left. We spent the next 2 days in Yellowstone. It is a breathtaking easy 20 minute drive to the entrance. With her recommendation we got in early to beat the crowds and spotted lots of wildlife. We left the park each day around 3/4pm and then looked forward to lounging at LOR. The only down side was the swarms of bugs, but I think that we just hit a bad week mid June as they got better the last day. The kids loved the bunk room too!

Our stay at island park was amazing! Sarah provided us with all the information that we needed to make our trip perfect. We spent 5 perfect days exploring Yellowstone and fishing the Madison River. The house has everything you could possibly need and is beautifully done. We would come back in a heartbeat!

From the moment we booked this property, the owners were available, accommodating, and knowledgeable about the area. The home is beautiful and well stocked. No detail overlooked! We are so glad we planned for one full day to relax at the home and enjoy the property!

Just beautiful. Property is terrific. House is great for all ages. Kitchen is well stocked compared to other VRBOs we have stayed at. The property helped to make our trip awesome. The experience is about being with family but a great backdrop helps.

We had the most amazing experience at House of Riley Lodge. Sarah was so accommodating and even created a website for our family. We had 6 adults and 4 kids and the house was perfect for us. We enjoyed the kayaks, canoe and all the games. The house was stocked with everything we needed and more! Great accessible location to West Yellowstone and we really enjoying being right on the water. We can’t wait to go back!

What a perfect house for a family reunion!
We came from both coasts, Oakland, California and Boston, Mass, as well as from the foothills north of Boulder, Colorado to enjoy being a family together. Your home on the beautiful Henry's Lake was just perfect in so many ways. We loved visiting Yellowstone Park and jumping in the water at the end of the day!

2022 O’s Western Vacation
First and foremost, Sarah is absolutely, hands-down the best person we’ve ever dealt with when planning our vacations. From restaurants in Big Sky she recommended, to ATV rentals and other fun things, we couldn’t have asked for more.
She promised me a kitchen that would have everything we needed to cook some Great dinners and a spice cabinet to rival a restaurant. Spot on.
80s in the day and 40s in the night made the air conditioning during the day so welcoming. And don’t forget the daylight lasts until 10ish this time of year!
We had an unforgettable family vacation, at this very clean, well appointed, not to mention Beautiful home!

This was a dream come true place! Even with wild weather and closure of Yellowstone this home provided a perfect escape for our family. Plenty of spare indoors and out. Couldn’t have asked for a nicer considerate host being sure all our needs were met and that we were comfortable. Live at Riley is the perfect getaway! Thank you.

Home away from home
This is the best rental house we have ever stayed in. We arrived to find a little treat package and all kind of travel necessities in case we forgot something including bear spray. Sarah was amazing and is more than willing to help with any ideas or travel plans. Fishing Idahos top lake right off the property and 20 minutes to the park. Convenient and relaxing it is the perfect gateway to adventure. Don’t forget to see the sheep near quake lake and go to mesa falls.
It was an amazing experience for the whole family and I highly recommend it.
It slept 10 comfortably and was perfect.

The best VRBO experience I've had, and I rented homes or 6 years.
One of the best VRBO rental experiences I've had. The property was amazing but the property host provided the best rental experience I've ever had. They not only provided it incredible property but took into consideration all the needs a rental family could have or want. Instead of skimping on supplies and equipment They went out of their way to provide for our needs.

Fabulous
Everything was excellent. Property was even better than pictured. Location was perfect for heading to Yellowstone, Mesa Falls, and Big Sky. Owners were terrific. We went out on the canoes, hiked, saw a ton in Yellowstone. Great time.

Great for Yellowstone Exploration
Spent a week here with my brothers and our spouses (all 60+). Easy drive from Bozeman and easy access to West Yellowstone and the park. Sarah was a delight to work with and really went out of her way to make sure we knew what to expect, bring and do. Her recommendations, via a personalized website, were very helpful. We arranged two days of private Yellowstone tours and a half day of fly fishing. Both providers were fabulous. As for the LR Lodge, it exceeded our expectations. Pictures were accurate, beds comfortable and furnishings top notch. As we cooked most dinners at the Lodge, I particularly enjoyed the well stocked kitchen and multiple grills. The deck was a delight and where we spent many hours catching up. Evening fires by the lake were a total delight. I happily recommend LRL for your trip to the Yellowstone area!

Luxury cabin for 12, stunning views, and hosts that are like having your own private tour guides!
Our family of 8 adults, three kids (ages 2, 7, and 12) loved our stay at Life of Riley! Sarah and Riley made it so easy to plan our family vacation They responded quickly with great information, suggestions of fun activities to where to get groceries... and so much more! They were friendly and helpful!
The location is stunning! From the view of Sawtell Mountain across the lake, to the continental divide as you turn into the driveway. It is simply beautiful.
It is conveniently located 20 minutes from West Yellowstone. While there are houses on each side of the cabin, the dense tree growth between made it feel very private.
The cabin and grounds were immaculate. Appliances, bedding, and mattresses were all high end. We all commented on how well we slept!
One of our favorite spots was the large dining table that we all could sit around, so nice to be all together! The kitchen was incredibly well stocked. Sarah's labels were so helpful. Two refrigerators helped us keep plenty of cold drinks on hand. Two sets of washer and dryers are genius! And they were used!
The gear room in the lower level is thoughtfully stocked with a large variety of equipment and amenities. We used the beach towels and cozy outdoor blankets, games, bag board games, and more. The theatre room, with the large selection of DVD's, was nice for the kids to relax in after our busy days. The firepits and picnic tables made it fun to enjoy our s'mores with plenty of chairs and side tables.
The newly purchased kayaks, 2 adult and 2 child size, were used every day. We spent a lot of time at the beach, so relaxing. Water shoes are a good idea as it is a rock beach.
It was the perfect location for our family vacation!
We highly recommend the Life of Riley Lodge!

Family Bucket-List Vacation
Our stay at Life of Riley was amazing. The property owners, Sarah and Riley, have thought of everything. We have stayed at many vacation rentals across the country, and this was the most well equipped house we have ever rented. Sarah’s service was unbelievable too…from the custom website everyone in our family could access, to the introductory calls and texts before our trip, she went out of her way to make sure we enjoyed our week. We traveled with our adult children and one grandchild, and we couldn’t have asked for a better home. And, it was perfectly located right outside of the park. Thanks for helping us create great memories, Life of Riley!

Great Family Property!
Our family thoroughly enjoyed the amenities provided by this property and its ideal location situated just 15 to 20 minutes outside the west entrance of Yellowstone National Park. The owner, Sarah, is an absolute pleasure to work with and goes out of her why to ensure that you have the best stay possible. I cannot recommend this property highly enough.

Great for family
Our family loved all the outdoor space, around the fire pits, etc.
You have an awesome view of both the lake looking outward, and the hillside to the rear of the property. You will have neighbors on both sides, but they really were not bothersome.

Attention to detail
If you are looking for the perfect place to call home away from home for your vacation, then Life of Riley Lodge is your rental. The pictures don't do it justice. It far exceeded our expectations. Our 4 children want to live there! Sarah was a pleasure to correspond with before, during, and after our stay.
She was very helpful with tips and ideas on how to plan our trip visiting Grand Teton and Yellowstone since this was our first time out there. Riley and Sarah thought of absolutely everything to have and offer their guests. Everything was labeled, organized, and easy to find. The location was perfect concerning Yellowstone and we just loved staying on the gorgeous lake. Our teenage daughters took advantage of the beautiful backdrops for their many Instagram posts:) We hope to visit here again one day with friends and share this gem with them!

Excellent experience beautiful property
We have rented many vrbo properties and this was probably our best experience. The booking/check in/check out process with sarah was seamless and she was so incredibly helpful with our trip planning. Sarah genuinely wants her guests to have the best experience and does everything she can to make that happen. She even had decorations available as we were celebrating my hunbands 50th and helped me locate a rental car when they were unavailable!! The property was just as it looks in pictures but it was the cleanest, most well organized (everything labeled) house! She clearly cares about maintaining this beautiful property. Our party of 11 thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
