Peter and Joy were amazing hosts, introducing us to all things Jamaican from their tranquil hilltop haven.
Peter took us to the local mall and Fort Clarence beach (10 minutes away and had a small entry fee but felt very safe and lifeguarded) while Joy served up incredible breakfasts of ackee and saltfish, callaloo, fish fritters, omelettes and bagels. We never had the same thing twice for breakfast in our 10-night stay.
We had the largest bedroom and bathroom we have ever stayed in with views to both the sea and the mountains. The pool was fab with a proper deep end!
The nearest eating places at night are 15 minutes drive away in Portmore. I would recommend hiring a car, which we did, if you are going to venture further afield. We did day trips to Port Royal (1hr drive); the blue mountains (with Jamaica Cultural Tours of Kingston who were great); the Bob Marley museum in Kingston (on his birthday and 40 mins drive) and Dunns River falls at Ocho Rios (1hr drive).
Really enjoyed our chats with Peter and Joy about their life adventures which they readily shared. If you want to get off the beaten tourist track and have a more authentic Jamaican experience then El Cielo is perfect.

The premises was huge, clean, quiet, and secured. Mr. and Mrs. Jarrett were a treat, they were very welcoming, and we chatted as if we knew each other for a long time. The rave about food was not just a rave, everything was delicious, and they really catered to our needs. The room was very spacious, the view was amazing, and the bed was really comfortable. This getaway was for my mom's birthday and rest assured she enjoyed every bit and cried when she had to leave. The Jarrett's really made our stay a memorable one and we look forward to visiting again. I wish them all the best and that their cup will never go empty.
What I didn't like was that I didn't get enough food to take back home. Other than that there was nothing else to dislike, thank you again for a great time!

This place is beautiful and very comfortable, my family and i enjoyed every moment of it. Breakfast was amazing 😊 i would definitely go back there again to stay.
My family enjoys the area and setting communication with the host was great being there was like being at home with your mom and dad feeling. My prayer for your home for the favor you have shown my family in those past few days, being around with you and family. Your covenant is trustworthy, and you have promised these good things to your servant. Now be pleased to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever in your sight; for you, Sovereign LORD, have spoken, and with your blessing the house of your servant will be blessed forever.” 2 Samuel 7:28-29

Great Home, as in what you read about in Great English Literature. We felt as though we were Duke and Duchess surveying out Jamaican Properties. The furniture is amazing, hand carved and highly polished
I have “No dislikes”.

The large room, the pool, the food, the facilities, the inhouse driver, all is VIP about this place. Luxury accommodation, really. A place we recommend, if you want to stay in Portmore. Fort Clarence beach is a must. Thank you for making us feel welcome, in this home away from home.

Peter and Joy who run the place are marvellous. As is Troy who works for them and Mitzy, the cab driver too. Wonderful people! Big love to you all. Best Jamaican breakfasts and you can get dinner if you order early enough. Wonderful beds and such a great view from our balcony. We were there for a family funeral and were close to Spanish Town and the chapel. It 's also really near the coast and Hellshire Beach - grear froed fish and lobster! Mitzy was on hand to drive us wherever we needed to go. My cousin and had a heavenly stayat El Cielo! We will definitely return
We loved it all!

Scenery was great and our breakfast every morning was wonderful Mr and Mrs Jarret tried to be great host .our jelly from there tree was great and appreciated.
The 1st 3days the hot tub didn't work and our room was very dusty neither did the TV channels but the jarrets quickly moved us to another room wasn't as spacious but we made it work. But that room also had its issues there were nights we came home and no hot water.

Rooms are spacious. Beds are large. Nice balcony. The A/C is good. Mini fridge in the room. Tall ceilings. Plenty of closet space. The hosts are helpful with transportation. Food and water provided and special diets are offered such as vegetarian or vegan. Laundry service available. Towels and a sun chair by the pool available.
Unreliable WIFI.
Not clean. My room wasn't cleaned for 5 days even though I requested it cleaned. I had to wait for specific days for housekeeping to arrive on the permises to do proper cleaning of the room. The lady on the premises is a senior so she is often tired and complains about it so I felt guilty asking her to have my room cleaned.
The pool is often very dirty and not always available because there are many parties, music video filming and photoshoot events hosted at this house, almost daily. The pool was important for me so unable to use it due to dirty water and it being occupied was disappointing.
The hosts and housekeeping were very nosey and rude about my private life and often had unwelcomed comments and questions about my body shape, skintone, race, sex life, and romantic life. They wanted to hook me up with some guys. This made me very uncomfortable as a single woman. I told them I rather not discuss my private life but to no avail.
Although the food is tasty and provided generously, I often felt sick after eating it. Not sure why.
All of my laundry significantly faded in color after being washed and dried.
The hosts often complain about their electricity bill and scolds me for keeping the AC running or using the lights when I need it and dictate when to keep it on or off.
There are fruit trees but they are in bad condition due to lack of proper care and lots of abuse. I ate a lime from one and it made me very sick, I vomited.
Not a very private place, many men and construction workers were often present around the pool. I felt uncomfortable as a woman. I mentioned it to the hosts but they dismissed me.

I booked a 3-night stay at El Cielo for me, my partner and our 4 year old. From the moment we arrived the owners, Mr and Mrs Jarrett, made us feel welcomed and comfortable - even to the point of arranging a last minute room for two extra guests who had travelled down with us. From thereon in everything was pretty much top notch - our room and bathroom, the hosting and hospitality, and the hosts' genuine desire and efforts to make our trip a wonderful one. Breakfast was divine. The food and drink served at breakfast was fresh, tasty and plentiful - with my partner and I opting for a hearty, traditional cooked Jamaican breakfast, and our son going for eggs, sausages, pancakes etc. - to the point that we would usually skip lunch because we were so full! Mr Jarrett would also arrange taxis for us when we needed to go out and about, and even called up to check we were okay when he hadn't heard back from us in an expected timeframe.
We loved everything about the place!

The Host was beyond excellent. They both treated me as if I was their family. I was beyond surprised at the breakfast. Each day my eyes lit up at the breakfast, it was that delicious and well presented, cooked from the heart. i was very sad to leave this wonderful couple and their beautiful home.

There's just so much to say, first house was warm and inviting with its rich "old world" charm and family pictures. Peter and his wife made my husband and I feel at home, and like we were family. They were easy to talk with and have a great conversation. The staff was very accommodating to our needs even when we returned late. The breakfast was wonderful homemade Jamaican food which carried me through out the day. It was nice to have a pool to swim in the back to cool off and lounge around, especially during the lockdown periods. The room was huge and plenty of spaces to store our clothes and gear. The personal a/c in the room was great after a long walk around the area, or just to chill out in and nap. The mini fridge was nice to have to store any drinks, food or snacks to keep cool. It would have been nice to have a microwave in the room, but the staff was accommodating in reheating any food we had. The view from the balcony was spectacular because you got to see both the Caribbean Sea, the mountains, and the view of Kingston in the distance. I enjoyed the breeze both day and night. It was close to Hellshire Beach which had some great authentic Jamaican food if you wanted to get some dinner. And not far from Spanish Town which made it convenient for us to see my husband's family on my first visit to my husband's home country of Jamaica. They were accommodating on providing transportation when I had to get my COVID test to return to the States. It would definitely be a place I would visit again. They really live up to the heart warming feeling of the island, people and culture of Jamaica.
The bed as a little too firm, but at the same time I didn't let the staff know about my history with fibromyalgia. The mosquitoes in the morning and evening was a bit much, but that was through out the island. So make sure to bring some mosquito repellent, unless you want to become the "Jamaican Mosquito Blood Bank" like I did. (Ha Ha Ha)
