Excellent location. A magical place by the lake.

The location down a private carriage road of cobblestone leads to a home steeped in history and with an elegance from yester year. The whole setting is like something out of a fairy tale. We had breakfast each morning overlooking the lake with the doors open onto the porch and enjoyed occasional visits from the peacock who lives in the garden behind the home. The house is well equipped with modern conveniences without sacrificing charm. We visited the garden in complete privacy during one of its rare closures and felt like total VIPs. Sylvia was incredibly helpful and friendly and fortunately had quite good English as our Portuguese is sorely lacking. The host was highly responsive and left us a lovely welcome gift. The entire stay was perfect for us and we'd recommend it to anyone who loves old homes and quiet settings.
Visitors should be mindful that in old homes particularly ones in such prime locations, there can be occasional odors from old plumbing. It didn't bother us but not everyone would feel the same.

Amazing location. It is like stepping back in time!

Absolutely charming house on a beautifully peaceful lake. There are really only 2 houses right on the lake and this is one of them. Loved having access to multiple kayaks (as well as bikes). Wood fireplace worked great and created a cozy atmosphere. Plenty of things to do right in your backyard as well as <10min drive to Furnas for food, supplies, restaurants and more. There is a wonderful 4 mile hiking/running path around the lake as well as multiple other trails and sceneries. Would recommend this house and location to anyone.

The lake and garden are great for visiting, but I would recommend to do a one day trip.
This accommodation is only justified because of its location. Unfortunately, we cannot agree with the good reviews.
The house is not made for this environment. Therefore, a large part of the rooms have damage to the walls due to the high humidity, which worried me. Even the many dehumidifiers obviously can't handle the high humidity, although they run continuously and be incomprehensible loud. The cleanliness was not convincing either.
As we were travelling with our 8-month-old son and we could not assess the health risk, so we left the house shortly after check-in. They apologised and had some understanding, but neither booking.com nor the owner were able or willing to find a solution to the current situation. At the moment, we are still stuck with all the costs of this accommodation and the alternative accommodation.
I need to say, we did not expect a modern house, but a well-kept one. If a floorboard creaks or the doors squeak, no problem…..but such desolate damage to the basic substance of the house is incomprehensible and unacceptable for me.
This incident marked our first holiday as a small family, but also sensitised us for future ones.

Magical. To be honest I greatly hesitated in booking this property, after all for half the money we could get adequate Accommodation for our group which had good reviews. I am so glad we did not change our mind. It was like being in a dream. Overlooking the lake we were transported back in time. The house was very clean the owner generous , Some nice goodies awaited us and and also left us a lot of firewood for the fireplace. We had access to bikes and kayaks. This was truly a magical place to stay in

Staying in this house was like walking into one of your favorite children's books. The views of the lake were amazing, and we loved strolling and biking around it straight from our house. The kids were enchanted by the idea that we had a "secret garden" right behind us, and we visited it almost every evening as the sun was going down. After nightfall we enjoyed reading in front of the fire in the living room. One of my kids literally cried when we left. I would recommend this house highly to families, or anyone!
