About this house rental
South Lodge was built in 1894 and has been totally renovated by the owners to created a charming comfortable holiday home to be enjoyed. The original kitchen has been extended in order to accommodate modern family life with a kitchen table and chairs however there is also an open plan dinning room which allows a large family to eat together. The sitting room is warm and cosy with a real fire place for cooler weather with an adjoining conservatory in which to enjoy in the sunny days . Downstairs there is a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room whilst upstairs there are two bedrooms and a walk through study creating sleeping accommodation altogether for six adults and two children. The family bathroom is also situated upstairs and comprises of both a bath and a shower. South Lodge sits in a pretty cottage garden which is quiet and secluded where you can enjoy outdoor barbeques and picnics. There is a single garage for use of our guests and parking for 2 other cars. The Lodge is a four minute walk from the beach and a 10 minute walk to local pubs and restaurants. Should you wish to venture further, Chichester is 6 mile away, Arundel 9 and Petworth 16, therefore there is plenty to see and do. However you may just fancy a stroll in the downs or a paddle in the sea.

This is a lovely house that was very comfortable for the six of us, traveling along the south coast of England. It was historic feeling with the older gate house but had modern appliances and great family areas as well as pretty bedrooms. The walk to the sea is an easy, sheltered walkway and in the evenings, we saw local foxes, which was charming, especially for the kids. The house also has a small grocery two-minutes walk away and that was perfect for running over for pain-au-chocolat in the morning or whatever we were missing. It was a also a great base for visiting Arundel Castle and West Wittering Beach. I definitely recommend it.

A lovely clean and spacious property, we spent the week over Christmas and Val made it really welcoming with a few Christmas decorations. Plenty of parking for cars, table tennis in the garage to keep the kids entertained.
Would definitely stay again, and the beach is only a short walk away.

The house was great for us and our dog (a German Shepherd). The house had everything you might need, even down to beach towels. The garden is enclosed. There is a One Stop Shop almost opposite the house (and is open from 7am to 10pm 7 days a week). It's a 5 minute walk to the dog-friendly beach. We stayed in August, the weather was great, and the beach (to our surprise) was very quiet. It did get busier the closer you walked up towards Bognor itself. Will definitely stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay at the lodge, the house is so well equipped we didn’t want for anything during our stay. It’s really close to the beach and a lovely quiet location. Val the host was excellent, she made sure the house was suitable for our requirements and the check in process was easy. The garden space was excellent too.

Wonderful property
This is a spacious, well equipped house, located just 5 mins walk away from the beach. Luckily, the sun shone & we enjoyed breakfasts at The Aldwick Beach cafe & lunches & dinner at nearby Waverley & Navigator hotel. The property has a lovely garden with bbq , sun loungers & bat/ball games supplied .
The host was very friendly & helpful, responding immediately to a query.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this delightful lodge house.

Sunny break in a sunny house
A lovely holiday home in a great location just a few minutes walk from the beach, supermarket and newsagent. Easy walk to parks and esplanade. Beach is pebbles with sand when tide is out.
The house was perfect for 6 of us. Grandma had the downstairs double with en-suite shower room whilst rest of family shared the three upstairs bedrooms. The comfy lounge with tv and a sun room plus kitchen with separate dining room gave us plenty of room. Kitchen had everything we needed (some egg cups would be nice though). The children loved the table tennis in the garage and a game of ball in the garden. The front of the garden isn’t completely secure for dogs as there is a space under the trees but as we were always out with them it didn’t cause a problem. Thank you for providing a first class base for our break, we loved it.

We really enjoyed our stay at South Lodge. The house itself is lovely and has everything you need for a holiday stay. It's clean, really comfortable and just a short walk to a lovely beach. The owners were a pleasure to deal with and we just had a thoroughly excellent time.

Lovely stay in Aldwick - Fab property!
We had a lovely stay at this period property in Aldwick, a stone's throw from Bognor Regis, South Lodge was beautifully renovated and is a light and airy property with great size bedrooms and lots of living space. It ticked all the boxes for our family allowing the dog in the downstairs of the property, and the kids loved their bedroom with the trundle bed!
The weather was windy and changeable but it didn't stop us from having lots of invigorating beach walks and the sun did show it's face occasionally! The beach is very close, just a short walk through the houses.
There are shops for food etc. also a walk away.
We chose the location for Butlins too, and took the kids there for a day trip which was great fun. It is less than a 10min drive away.
The property owner was very prompt with replying to my emails and very clear about what to do when we arrived wrt to finding and getting into the property.
We will hopefully be returning to South Lodge again, a great find!

Great Holiday House near quite beach
We had a lovely holiday staying for nearly 2 weeks at south lodge in Aldwick, the house is very nice and big, lovely garden, enough space and beds for the whole family, toilet and showers are all new and good working, and the area is so nice and quite, short walk to a nice beach, we were lucky with the weather, lots of sunny days.
We will definitely recommend to friends and try to come back at the next opportunity.

Short May Break
We wondered why this property was still available as we booked fairly last minute, we discovered why - it had only just become available and we were the owners first guests! The property had just been fully refurbished to a high standard, so everything was new and spotlessly clean. The owners were very responsive to questions beforehand, our dogs were allowed, only downstairs but this was fine for us. The downstairs bedroom with en-suite was ideal for my less than fully mobile father-in-law (there are 2 steps between the bedrooms and en-suite). There were only 5 of us, so plenty of space, a group of 8 might found the downstairs cosy. We took the dogs down to the nearby beach, which is dog friendly, we walked into the centre of Bognor Regis and also visited West Dean Gardens. Overall a lovely stay, we would certainly consider returning, we wish the owner the best of luck with this venture.
