About this house rental
Originally a tavern and bar, established in the 1940's, The MacKay has since been converted into a fun, comfortable, slightly rustic, house that sleeps up to 12 people. A highlight of our house is it's original bar which is situated in the large game room. The bar seats 6 people and a 2nd refrigerator is conveniently locate right next to the bar. Here you can enjoy watching family and friends play pool or pinball. If that is not enough, for added indoor fun there are an assortment of board games provided, including the ever popular game of Monopoly.
Outside you will find additional space for entertaining on our large deck where there's plenty of seating, tables and a gas grill. Steps lead off the deck to a large, private, back yard where you will find a large fire pit, surrounded by big boulders, for seating, and an additional stone barbecue grill. The yard is very flat so it's perfect to play croquet or corn hole, which are provided for guests to enjoy.
Also located on the first floor is the eat-in kitchen, dining room and living room with a large screen television and comfortable seating to allow for great get togethers with friends and family. Additionally, 2 bedrooms are located on the first floor so if stairs are an issue for a guest this makes our house a perfect fit. One bedroom has a king sized bed, carpeted floor and the other bedroom has full-sized bed with French doors that open up directly onto the deck. Also located on the first floor is a half bath and a full bath with a shower stall. A laundry nook with a washer & dryer, shelving for towels and pantry storage is located off the kitchen.
The second floor consists of a master bedroom with a queen sized bed & TV with DVD player. The second bedroom has a full-sized bed and a sliding barn door, the third bedroom has a full-sized bed and a sliding barn door. There is a full bath with a tub/shower and a day bed in its own little sitting area in the hallway.
The Mackay sleeps up to 12, people, including the day bed. Parking for all guests is never a problem as across the street there is a large grass parking lot. This is a non-smoking cottage. Pets are negotiable with a non-refundable pet fee. Wifi is available at The MacKay, but cannot be guaranteed.

Great time was had by all.

Everyone enjoyed the pool table, pinball and other bar games. Great entertaining areas. Large enough for the family to gather in the same room. Plenty of beds for the group of 8 that stayed. Kitchen nicely equipped. Floors are very uneven. Ceiling leaked in a couple of spots when the snow turned to rain. Definitely, more good than bad. We would consider this option again.

We loved this property! We are a family of four with adult children and one of their friends, and this was a great place to hang out and spend time together. The bar room offers pool, pinball and a jukebox, and corn hole was a hit for the beautiful backyard. Very cozy and unique weekend retreat.

Six of us stayed here for our annual girl's weekend away. This was our first time at this cabin and it's a clear winner. The jukebox was awesome (plays via bluetooth) and we were up late each night playing pool, pinball, jenga, yahtzee, and ring toss... all which were provided!
The house was spacious beyond belief! We never felt cramped or crowded. The furniture is comfortable and in good shape. Even the patio furniture was nice and clean.
We enjoyed the firepit as well. And firewood was provided. There's a small creek running through the backyard, which made sitting out even more relaxing.
The house had ample heating so we weren't cold, even during the October nights.
Overall, we could not have enjoyed our stay more! It's the first place we've been that everyone agreed was sure to be a repeat trip. It's a very unique, comfortable, inviting, fun place to stay. We're already excited about going again next year. So if you're contemplating going to this cabin... just book it! You'll looove it!
The one and only issue we had was the mice kept us up at night scurrying around. So light sleepers, bring a sound machine. But other than that it's literally PERFECT!

Lots of space
Great location, lots of space, very nice backyard and deck, great kitchen and dining areas, great to have the towels, sheets and washer/dryer available, good wi-fi. Two of the bathrooms were on the rustic side.

Olde Rustic Tavern
This is the perfect place to stay, especially with 3 boys ages 9,10 and 11 and a dog. The rustic nature of the house and surrounding woods were perfect for a weekend stay in beautiful Eagles Mere. There is plenty of room inside and out. We probably could have stayed a week so we could explore the surroundings. A very cool place to stay!

A nice family weekend
Lots of space for our two year-old grandson to run around, plus pool table, pinball machine and plenty of comfortable space for the rest of us (from 22 to we, the grandparents)

Great Family Place
My family and our dogs stayed here and it couldn’t have been more perfect!!! Our dogs ran all around outside and loved the stream so much. The two bedrooms on the main floor were super convenient because one of our dogs cannot do stairs and my dad has a bad ankle so not doing stairs was much easier for them both. My niece and nephew (and brothers) loved the pool table and the pinball machine. The fire pit was such a huge hit and it was big enough we could all fit around it - not to mention the firewood was provided!!! So awesome!!! The house has a great separation for people who want to sit in the kitchen and talk while others are in the tavern playing games. We had so much fun here, made some great memories and would love to come stay here again for the next family reunion we have!!

Relaxing get-a-way with fun amenities!
The "town that time forgot" is the local phrase and it is accurate! Such a quaint area and the property was everything we hoped for and more! The large game room was the highlight as we gathered for fun and laughter (which was great when it rained!). With 9 people stirring about, we never felt cramped and there were plenty of bathrooms. The beachfront is 1.4 mile walk and we did it twice because the walk was so peaceful. Wifi was great, although we had no cell service. We didn't mind, but could not make/receive calls with Verizon. The place was clean and provided plenty of kitchenware, linens and amenities. LOVED this place!

A total hit – highly recommend
Everything was exactly as described. Quaint, cozy. The perfect place for a getaway with just enough of the modern amenities to keep everyone happy. Tons of space, a little broke in the backyard. Awesome deck and a great fire pit. Close the world in which is great for hiking. You couldn’t get any better.

Great house in an amazing town
My family loved this house and didn't want to leave. Everything we could have needed was provided. The house was just a short walk from town and, more importantly, the ice cream shop! Such a beautiful area. We will have to come back sometime in the summer to see the lake area in full swing.

60th Birthday Celebration
We enjoyed our stay here. The deer in the back yard was an unexpected pleasure! The only thing we feel could have been better is there should have been firewood available for the fire ring.
