About this house rental
Fantastic location! Just a 10-minute walk to Lake Michigan beach access and Kids Corner playground!! 5 minute drive to town and all its shops, restaurants, and fun things to do.
Fully furnished with central air conditioning/heat, washer/dryer, privacy-fenced backyard with patio, outdoor dining table, gas grill, fire pit and love seat swing. Don’t forget to visit the famous “Club Hazel,” our name for the hangout space within our converted garage, that features a reclaimed wood bar, mini fridge, mood lighting, blue tooth speaker, and seating that opens to patio.
It all sits on a nicely manicured lot in a safe, quiet neighborhood. We’ve got 4 adult bikes and one kid's bike to get you started, and plenty of space to store, if you’d like to bring more. Then hit the Van Buren trail that’s literally around the corner from our house! Or hop on your bikes for a scenic, short cruise into town. Please bring your own helmets for safety!
The garage is also stocked with sand toys, beach chairs, and 2 wagons — one to haul your gear and one to pull your kiddos!
Fun and board games are waiting for you inside coffee table in living room. Let the friendly competition begin! We’ve even included a ROKU system that allows you to login to view your favorite shows and movies.
Enjoy the most magnificent sunsets you’ll ever see. Spectators have been known to applaud as the last slice of sun melts into the horizon, leaving the sky aglow and hearts full.
The fun doesn’t stop with summer! The area will be bursting with can’t-miss color in the fall when apples are ready for picking and pumpkin patches are waiting for you and yours to explore! Visit some of the local wineries and take in all the crisp autumn beauty you can handle. We like to call this time of year, Girls Getaway and Couples Hideaway Season!
Van Buren Trail is open for year-round adventure whether you’re bicycling, snowmobiling, or cross-country skiing. Festivals aren’t just for summer in South Haven. There are lots of special events to enjoy in the fall and bundle up the last weekend in January into first weekend in February for our annual Ice Breaker when beautiful ice sculptures line the downtown streets along with a chili cook-off, pub slide, cardboard sled race and frozen fish fling. Then wind down with a horse-drawn wagon ride and shop to your heart’s [or wallet’s] content at all the fabulous stores.
No matter what the season, there’s always time to catch a show at the Michigan Theater right in town. This classic venue features first run movies and concessions. Feel like bowling? Check out Lakeside Entertainment — only a 5 minute drive from us on Blue Star Highway!
There’s so much to see and do here in South Haven and our neighboring towns that you’ll have to keep coming back! We had such an amazing stay at this property! It was the perfect size for our family of four. The house was fully stocked with everything we needed. One note - if you are looking for sun protection at the beach, I would recommend bringing your own umbrellas or beach tent. The ones provided were very small and one was broken. Other than that - great vacation house!

This was the second year in a row we chose South Haven, MI for our family vacation and it was amazing! The house was wonderful! From the neighborhood, proximity to the beach and Phoenix Street, to all the amenities that the backyard had to offer! Amazing vacation home and will definitely be coming back!

This house was very clean and was walking distance to the beach. Very well stocked and so many extras! The backyard was great for grilling and we loved all the outdoor games, bikes and toys that we were able to use. Had a great family vacation!

This was our third time staying at the house. It’s in a great location and a short drive to the beach. The inside is just fine - nothing to rave about. We have two kids (2 and 5) and we all love having the fenced backyard. The backyard and location are the reason we keep coming back. There’s lots of things in the garage for use (wagons, beach chairs, sand toys, bubbles, chalk, yard games, etc). Overall we’ve been happy coming here and would recommend booking it.

South Side Shamrock with backyard Club Hazel was a great getaway! The home was close to the beautiful beach and the downtown and we were welcome to the bikes and beach towels and toys. Everything was included, the kitchen had it all, games and TV in the family room and comfy bedrooms. The neighborhood was quiet and family friendly. We will be back! You should go, too.

Vacationing to South Haven and staying at South Side Shamrock house is our go to destination for my family and I. It's our home away from home. We always feel welcomed and comfortable here. The owners are like family. We hope others that stay here enjoy it as much as we do!

Our family of 4 (two kids ages 2 & 4) had such a nice stay here for a long weekend! Sheila was so communicative before our visit & shared so much helpful info. Also offered an early/flexible check in time which was a nice surprise.
House is so well stocked & it felt like it had more to offer than the typical rental, even plenty of kid stuff (books, toys, plates, utensils, etc). Only thing we had to run out to get was shampoo & soap for showering (no problem - just something to note!) but other than that…this place has everything & more. Loved having the wagons, beach chairs, & water/sand toys each day when we walked down to the beach. Club Hazel was unique & a fun space to enjoy in the evenings. Highly recommend this spot & would love to return ourselves!

We just stayed 5 days, but the stay was great! The house is very well stocked with most things you need every day. (Towels, linens, washcloths, etc. the kitchen had spices, coffe filters, etc as well as pans and utensils). Great place to stay for a small family.

The Southside Shamrock is an absolute gem! There is no detail overlooked, whether it be the house itself, all of the goodies that come with it (bikes, chairs, umbrellas, games, and beach toys), and “Club Hazel” in the backyard. The location is very convenient to everything, especially if you rent a golf cart. You can’t go wrong staying here!

Such a charming little cottage very close to Lake Michigan. Super clean. Very well stocked with nice amenities. We especially like the backyard area with the "man cave". Having bikes and beach equipment available for guests to use was a big plus. We would definitely stay here again.

Perfect for a family with two littles (3 and 10 months). There were plenty of sand toys, even wagons as well for the beach. House was clean and the back yard is fenced in which I loved for my boys. Close enough to everything but not in the middle of it.

The house was well-stocked with all the essentials for the beach, even wagons to get the little one and towels, umbrella, etc. there. The backyard is comfortable with an outdoor patio, including grill and fire pit - wood included!

The hosts were very kind, communicated quickly and clearly, and the home had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Quiet, shady neighborhood, walking distance to the beach, and a great yard space for cooking out, lawn games with the family, and just relaxing. We would stay here again in a heartbeat! They even left us a bottle of bubbly to celebrate our 50th Anniversary!

The south side shamrock was perfect for our family of 6! Very clean, stocked with all the normal necessities you would need in a house, they allowed use of their bikes, firewood, games, etc as well. Quiet street but walking distance to beach and parks. We loved our stay here!

Charming South Side Shamrock
Greg and Sheila were so easy to work with! Their Shamrock cottage was clean, charming, cozy and in a great location. The property has everything we needed including a great outdoor area and amenities. The hosts leave you everything you might need for your stay and we felt right at home. We highly recommend!!

Cozy and Comfortable
Cozy and comfortable home with plenty of space for our family of 5. Fully stocked with any supplies for the house and beach! Large backyard with outdoor dining, bar, fire pit and rocking swing were very nice - would have used more if we were with other adults for sure. Walkable to Kids Corner and the beach / downtown but we drove since we had a lot to carry.

Sheila (& Greg) were WONDERFUL to work with! We had to cancel our original booking due to Covid and reschedule for later in the fall. They were so understanding and accommodating! We were so happy to still get to stay at the Shamrock house to celebrate our girls weekend that was much needed. This house had everything you could possibly want for a weekend getaway! Sheila reached out with so many great recommendations that really helped us plan the perfect weekend. We felt so at home and the hospitality will forever be remembered! Great family spot
We had a great time for our first visit to South Haven! The house was clean, cute, and comfortable. We had everything we could’ve needed and communication from the hosts was fantastic. We especially loved the backyard and spent lots of time there eating dinner and letting the kids play after spending the days at the beach. We were able to roast marshmallows over the fire pit and the kids claimed the adorable “clubhouse” seating area as their own. A great trip!

Great accessibility
We were very pleased that there we not stairs to get in the house since we entertained 93-year old grandma who has difficulty getting around. It worked out well. Very cozy place.

Pros: Great location (great walk to the beach) for our long weekend getaway from the city! We cooked most meals (Meijer was just 10min away) and the kitchen was fully stocked and had everything we needed. We even made a small bonfire in the backyard one night to enjoy the cool fall weather. Finally, we loved being able to do a quick load of laundry on our way out (one less to do at home.)
Cons: The house smelled a little musty/moldy, and there were some cobwebs to be found. The toilet was super low to the ground, but not a huge deal, and while we chose this house for the fenced in yard, there was no door from inside the house to the yard (only accessible outside from the driveway).
Overall, had everything we needed and the location was superb.

Highly Recommended Family Retreat
5 Stars. Highly recommended. Clean, comfortable, well equipped kitchen, nice neighborhood, so close to the beach, a nice washer & dryer, and the secure fenced in back yard was a major plus for our two English Cockers. We also appreciated the guides to area attractions.
Greg & Sheila were very helpful and answered questions quickly. You'll enjoy your stay, we did. If we visit Michigan again, we would gladly stay there again.

Wedding weekend
We got married on North Beach and chose to stay at South Side Cottage because it was close to town and affordable. It was that and more! South Side Cottage was perfect for our weekend. We enjoyed the back yard with our families and it was the perfect size house to get ready for our wedding ceremony. We hope to come back again soon!
