Mythology and the perfect beach holiday meet in this charming 2-story guest house that feels as though it were straight out of a fairy tale. The Troll's Den sleeps 6 people with 3 bedrooms and 1.5 baths, full kitchen, and laundry facilities. This house is perfect for families or small gatherings, with queen beds in two bedrooms and bunk beds in the other. The Trolls welcome your visit and, if you're quick, you may catch a glimpse of one inside the Troll Hole.
Loaded with games, toys, books, music, four TVs with and high-speed wifi this house is perfectly located across the street from the waterfall pond and a half-block walk from the pool, Lake Kai, and the new playground. A leisurely 5-minute walk to Lake Michigan on the pristine Indiana Dunes (national lakeshore) which is a top-rated beach where you can see the Chicago skyline on a clear day.

Early check-ins or late check-outs will be allowed when possible and will be charged at the hourly average of the nightly rate.

We enjoyed staying in the trolls den the owner was very responsive the house is small but it worked for us as we had lots of other families to share bigger spaces with we basically just needed the sleep space anders took care of pool passes and parking for us

My husband and I went with our daughter, son-in-law, and their two boys ages 3 & 4 for a three night stay. Spent the early afternoon at the Hesston Steam Museum with a short drive to a 3:00 check in. The grandkids loved the house! They thought the troll cave was awesome. So much fun stuff to do within walking distance. The playground was a big hit especially the big green slide. The closest beach (easy walk) was awesome and we also enjoyed another beach at the National Park. We all had fun picking blueberries. Everyone enjoyed their time here and can’t wait to visit again!

Rented both Valhalla and Trolls Den for a long weekend with friends. Combined there were 17 of us, 10 adults and 7 kids. The combined space between the houses was excellent for hanging out. Both houses looked exactly as listed and the host was right there if anything was needed. Communication was easy and there was plenty of extras (blankets, pillows, wagons, beach toys). Community was gorgeous and easy to get around. Would stay again!

The only issue we had was the surprise of finding out when we got there that we had to pay $15 a person for a wristband to use the amenities, and $5 to park one vehicle in front of the three bedroom house and an additional $10-$15 per other vehicle. The amenities cost were not optional, if you stay here you have to purchase the wristbands for everyone staying.

We usually come to stay at the Troll’s Den at least once a year, sometimes twice! It is the perfect place for our little family! Everything is always perfect on our arrival, and Anders is very communicative during our stay if anything comes up.

Super location, super clean, super cute! We enjoyed sitting on the porch talking for hours, the kitchen was well equipped, the beds were all comfortable, plenty of towels in bathrooms, and beach chairs available to use. We also took the bikes on a trail ride! Hosts were wonderful, we plan to come back in the near future 😊

My husband, adult son and I stayed in the Troll’s Den. It was so charming, had everything we needed for our stay plus more. It was very clean, exceptionally maintained and well stocked. The Beachwalk is a great community. Although it was off season, we enjoyed the walk to the beach. The owners live right next door, we had the pleasure of meeting them. They take great pride in their properties and it shows. This was our first time in the area, we will be back!

The rental was very clean, fun, and perfect for our family of four young kids. The whole house is decorated in a trolls theme (which my girls didn't like at first, but eventually loved) and is very fun to look at and has a fun nature to it. The whole community is full of themed houses, very colorful, and would be so much fun to see during the peak season. We came during the off season as a pass through, but still enjoyed just walking the community and going to the Indiana Sand Dunes just down the road. There is a nice park just a few blocks away for kids to play at and the Michigan Lake beach is within walking distance. Stores are 10-15 minutes away for supplies. We enjoyed our stay.

House was very nice. Location was close to the park, community center, neighborhood lake, and pool. Walking distance to Lake Michigan as well but a golf cart would be more convenient (available for rent from activity center). Did have an issue with noise at a neighboring house but owner was receptive to this. Otherwise great house and great area!

The house was as described. It did say there were beach toys and all we saw was a wagon. We did not bring any beach towels, and there were not beach towels in the home. The full bathroom needs to be cleaned/updated. It is small, but we knew that. The home worked for our short stay at Beachwalk.

We love this area of Michigan City. This is our 3rd trip here. First time at the The Trolls Den which is perfectly located within the Beachwalk community. You’ll have plenty of activities to enjoy during your stay and access to the nice beach! The owner is very responsive and seems to aim to ensure your stay is great!

This was the perfect house for a family of five. We had the best summer vacation.

It was a beautiful stay, they house was great, the owner is very nice and helpful. The only criticism was TV issues. We didn't watch to much TV but it's nice to have before bed. I believe the owner was going to correct this after we left since the main bedroom needed a replacement. Aside from that everything else was fantastic. We will definitely be back.

We had a great time in this Beachwalk property. The house was very clean and just as described. The shower was nice and hot. So nice to have linens, towels and basic kitchen supplies provided - even tea bags. We stayed here while attending a nearby birding festival and it was very convenient. My adult daughter and I were in town for a wedding and opted for this property instead of a hotel room. I’m so glad we did! The property is very nice, and equipped with everything I needed for cooking and lots of games and DVD’s for entertainment as well. The neighborhood is very cute, and though this is off season, the amenities look like they would be a blast too. The host was awesome and very responsive. I felt comfort in knowing he was available if we needed anything! We would definitely stay here again.

My requirements for a good place to stay are minimal - a clean, well-lit place with a comfortable bed and plenty of hot water, plus strong wi-fi. The Troll Den met all these requirements, and then some. We appreciated the carpet treads on the stairs (for safety), the heating system worked well, there were plenty of outlets so we could charge our devices, etc. I definitely would recommend this cottage and would stay here again.

I stayed here with my kids- ages 6, 8, 9, & 11. They loved the bunk bed room with plenty of board games to play, and the troll hole was such a fun surprise for them to play in.
The house had plenty of room for a family of 5.
There was a short leisurely walk to the boardwalk and over the sand dunes to the lake, and the entire Beachwalk community was very peaceful and quiet during our stay. We would love to come back here during the warmer summer months and get to use the pool.
We also were grateful for the beach wagon and even extras like beach chairs and an umbrella needed for a rainy afternoon spent shopping at the nearby Lighthouse outlets.
There’s plenty to do in the area, and I’d also recommend driving about 20 minutes up the road to New Buffalo, MI. The Galien River Marsh Preserves was a great place to walk with beautiful scenery, and a tower overlook.
We were also about to walk down the beach to the lighthouse and it was fun to see. We also had the beach almost all to ourselves the entire time, and the blue water of Lake Michigan felt like we were at the ocean.

The house was clean and well kept. Parking was straightforward and the host gave very detailed instructions for check in and check out. The location in the resort was perfect. Easy walk to the beach. Our toddler loved looking at the trolls and the little nook under the stairs.

We really enjoyed our stay. Convenient access to the pool and other Beachwalk amenities. Lake Michigan is a bit of a hike with little kids but many people rent golf carts (they were sold out when we were there). The house was good for a family of five.

First, I’d like to say how awesome the owner was to work with on this stay. He responded to all of my questions leading up to the trip, and I even saw him at check in. This is a cute little house that is perfect for a long weekend stay. Beachwalk is a fabulous community, and this is in the heart of the neighborhood. We rented a golf cart, which I would recommend. Only thing I think could be improved is cleanliness a little bit. There is nothing that would keep me from staying here again. You’ll have a great time at Troll’s Den.
