We very much enjoyed our pleasant stay in this spotless, well organized house. It's our fifth time renting in Nova Scotia, but first time on the Eastern Shore, and this is a special place. There are water views from many of the rooms. The king sized bed in the master bedroom was super comfortable. We enjoyed walking the nearby Gaetz Brook trail and went swimming in nearby lakes. The house is close to many glorious beaches. A. J. replied quickly to any questions we had. The mosquitoes were around, but bug spray definitely helped!

Nice master bedroom, quiet, accessible location near Halifax and lots of hiking trails. Grocery shopping down the street.

June getaway
The house was immaculate and served well for our family - 2 adults and 2 teenagers. Proximity to grocery and other conveniences were within a few miles. We took daily excursions some close, some far but every one was worth the trip. Beautiful weather -a really relaxing trip that offered something for everyone.

Beautiful property!
This property is exactly as depicted in the photos, but still exceeded our expectations. Everything we could have needed was there for our use, and the house is immaculate and very comfortable. We used this as "base camp" for all of our outdoor excursions, and even though we had to do a lot of driving, this is still a great, central location for anything within 2-3 hours, and closeby to Halifax and Dartmouth. We went tidal bore rafting, hiking, to the Shubenacadie wildlife park, Ontree adventure park, nearby beaches and Peggy's Cove. So much to do! Would highly recommend staying in this house. Mosquitoes are very aggressive, but we did enjoy watching the birds from the huge window in the back room. Both puzzles have pieces missing, but we still did them at night for some down time. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

A little piece of paradise
This house was fantastic. Very well renovated and maintained, the beds, sheets and towels felt like you were staying in a hotel or bed and breakfast. Loved the king size bed and master bedroom. Very well organized, environmentally friendly with the sorting of recyclables. Would definitely stay here again.

Quiet Getaway To Recharge Batteries
My husband and I were looking for a quiet getaway and we found it here. The house was comfortable with everything we needed and the grocery store just a couple minutes down the road. One night we ordered from Toulany's right down the road. We had fish and chips which were delicious and an inexpensive meal.
Regarding the pictures on the website they are accurate. We stayed in the master bedroom which has the king size bed. It was firm, but so comfortable. There were table fans which were adequate for all but the last night when the temperature and humidity rose. We didn't find it necessary to make the request to have an a/c put in and there was a portable unit upstairs, but since it was our last night we managed to sleep without it.
In the late evening I was able to capture pictures of the Milky Way once the skies cleared after 3 days of rain. This was a surprise considering there was some street lights in the area. The best part was being able see the Milky Way with the naked eye.
The location was close enough to make day trips, but far enough away to be in the country. We were able to take a day trip to Peggy's Cove (about 1hr 15 minutes away) and Lunenburg (approximately 1 hour from Peggy's Cove) and Halifax(about 30 minutes). We were able to visit the Citadel in Halifax on Canada Day and saw their demonstrations. Dartmouth is about 20 minutes away with so many restaurant offerings.
The owners were easy to communicate with and available should we need anything. They make staying at the house easy and enjoyable. This was a perfect getaway!

The cottage is well equipped. Everything you need is there and it is very clean. If there were any questions, AJ answered promptly. We had two really nice weeks there . The cottage is in a very central position. City, nature, beach.... all you are looking for is nearby. The only problem we had were the mosquitos... but they are everywhere, so it is not a special problem of the cottage - I think that is normal in August, when you have so much water around.

Beautiful setting, comfortable
We enjoyed our stay in this seaside cottage very much. The back yard was lovely and we were pleasantly surprised that we could see the Milky Way at night from the back yard. The house was comfortable for our family of 5 and conveniently located for our various day trips in several different directions. The kitchen was well-equipped and we enjoyed cooking some local seafood there as well. The grocery store only minutes away added to the convenience and enjoyment of our stay.

Immaculate and very comfortable
Very nice place, well run, and handy to Porters lake. Thank you. Only negative is the mosquitos which were vicious due to location. Much worse than in other properties we have stayed in in the area.

Awesome stay minutes from Halifax
This beautifully maintained, cozy and amazingly located cottage was the best vacation I've been on. Minutes to four of the best beaches Nova Scotia has to offer. Twenty minutes to Dartmouth, an hour to Peggy's Cove. Kitchen was fully equipped and dinning room was excellent for full dinners. East of the location many superb fish markets. Live lobster, clams, scallops, haddock. Numerous places to eat out and enjoy local catch minutes in both directions along the coastal highway. The view from the kitchen and deck of the ocean inlet/bay and manicured lawn was incredible. Friends vacationing in same area come over for dinner and loved the place. Local residents and all people in town very friendly. All amenities of home are local as well. Large grocery stores, fast food, Tim Hortons, etc. My wife and kids loved the stay and our guest from France appreciated the framed travel shots of Paris and France throughout the cottage. If relaxing is what you want this is the place to be.

Perfectly Charming
"We have vacationed using self-catering cottages and apartments in the Western US, in Paris, Cannes (one wine glass) Nice, Valencia (no saucepans), Rome (no coffee maker) and in both Northern and Southern Ireland (too much rain, even for a native) and I have to say that we have never rented a nicer or better equipped place than yours. You have spoiled us and I doubt that we will ever again see a nicer or better equipped holiday rental than your cottage. Thank you for this lovely experience on our first trip to Canada." I wrote this to AJ just after our vacation and I wouldn't change a word of it.

Bright, charming and relaxing, a perfect get-away!
My husband and I had the good fortune to spend a relaxing week in this bright charming Halifax area cottage located in East Chezzetcook. We found it to be everything and more than advertised. Nestled in a beautiful nature filled setting, the cottage is situated on a well maintained water front property. The cottage was spotless and in good repair. A wonderful mix of cozy century home living, coupled with the luxuries of updated appliances within a fully stocked kitchen. In addition the bathroom has a lovely soaker tub, and the master bedroom is spacious with four windows providing three different directional views. The dining room has a traditional character, and the living room is a perfect comfy place to read, gab or watch a movies. The surrounding area is a nature lover’s dream, yet amenities are also close at hand. The owner AJ is very prompt in all his communications. We found him to be both personable and well organized. Overall we would not hesitate to return.

Runner's paradise
The Chezzetcook vacation rental turned out to be a great decision for my end-of-winter working sabbatical. Every day was a runner's paradise up Conrod's Settlement (a beautiful 6 km, or 7.5 km if you include Mosher Street in your circuit). Just lock the door, leave the key in the secure key box, and go. The air is full of oxygen, coming off the ocean. In the evening, I would always step outside and just breathe in the clean ocean air. My total mileage is already over 200 km, en route to marathon fitness level, and off to a great start. Thank you for making everything so easy and convenient. The only reason I ever left the cottage was to pick up groceries. It just didn't make sense to leave when everything was so perfectly comfortable and peaceful. Thank you so very much for such a wonderfully productive month and a half!

Our visit to Nova Scotia
This summer we were fortunate enough to discover a wonderful rental home for our visit with family in Nova Scotia. Located in Chezzetcook, it combined the convenience of being relatively close to all the amenities of the cities of Halifax and Dartmouth, with the quaint "by the sea" feeling of the coastal landscape.
We were delighted with the open, airy feeling of the house. Without losing the original character of the century old home, it nicely blended it with upgrades and modern conveniences to create a residence which was simultaneously fresh and clean, and functional. It had all the extras one would require while away, including higher end appliances, laundry facilities and a well equipt kitchen. The computer made available for our use allowed us to keep in touch with relatives and research the many activities in the area.
The setting was wonderful. The house was located right on the shoreline, so we were able to sit on the deck and enjoy a morning coffee in the coolness of the Atlantic air. Never too hot, it was relaxing to be able to awake tin the morning, snuggled under the covers in a large, comfortable bed and see the brilliant orange of the sunrise visible through the window. I appreciated the fact that some meals could be prepared on the BBQ which kept the kitchen from overheating. The place generated a very peaceful, slow paced feeling for us while we were there for our vacation.

A beautiful week in paradise
This was the perfect vacation fo me and my wife. The Cottage was clean and in a quiet, serene location. The inlet area is just awsesome. Just sitting on that cute little patio with coffee in the mornings is the most peaceful, fulfilling experience. There is a supermarket just minutes away. We both had such a wonderful time there. A. J. is as nice and acomodating as he can be. truly an experience I will always remember.

Our time in Heaven
I hesitate to say how I feel about this wonderful place and cottage as I don't want it to be booked when I wish to return. There is a different scene each time I look out at the marsh. The ocean, tides, Canadian geese, several species of ducks, gulla and many species birds are just a taste of what makes the view so beautiful.
There is complete silence other than an occasional bird call.
The cottage could not be more quaint with its eclectic furniture. It's so clean and comfortable, from the director's chairs that adorn the deck to the unbelievably posh bed, complete with the softest of sheets and down duvet. My husband and I anxiously await our return and leave a bit of our hearts in the Head of Chezzitcook, NS.
