We found the property to be well presented and when contacted the owner she very helpful and obliging.
Would recommend for anyone to rent at an affordable price.

It was fine for our budget. Beds were comfortable. Location was great & the view was great. Everything is very worn & dated though. It could do with a smart tv or dvd's to use in the dvd player. We also found the cleaning instructions a bit excessive, especially there was a Xmas tree in a garbage bag in the room. downstairs! Thank you for the early check in & late check out.

Lots of room in this house. Wonderful view of the water and sun sets from the lounge room and balcony. Within walking distance of beaches / coastal trails / general store etc. Easy access to Phillip Island and Wonthaggi. Host was great to deal with. Thank you for our lovely Kilcunda short stay.

Wish it was a bit cleaner and had a small kitchen which made it hard to cook for a couple. Its an off road car parking as well.

The property was large enough for my family, 5 teenage grandchildren my partner and our son. Kitchen I found was a little small but had enough of the kitchenware we needed, a little disappointed there was no barbecue, but would of been another thing to clean anyway. Property was close enough to the beach good exercise for the kids to walk to, good walking tracks nearby and a general store just on the main road. Wonthaggi is the closest town about a 10 minute drive if you wanted to buy extra groceries. The manager was very pleasant she left easy instructions to get into the house and we were left with a Christmas gift surprise we thoroughly enjoyed.

house was in great location to Phillip Island, was a bit dissapointed there was no secure parking, by pics thought property had double gates for access to property, house was clean, but dinning floor mat was dangerous as i kept tripping over edges, TV remotes and Aircon remotes were hard to get working, and theres no hanging space for clothes, apart from that we had a great stay at Kilcundra and surrounding areas.

We were happy very happy with Sue. She was very efficient with her communication, and allowed us to check out a little later. House was walking distance to the shops and beach, and short drive to San Remo. Would be happy to go back again.

Nice spot to relax
An older two storey house but very clean and tidy. Not too far from the pub or the beach. We had a few wet days during our visit but managed to keep warm and cosy.

My grandchildren and I would have loved to have stayed longer!
A spacious home, and so close to all we were doing on Phillip Island.
Thanks Sue

Perfect weekend getaway
An easy drive from Melbourne, Whispering Sand in Kilkunda was just as perfect for a weekend away by myself as it would be for the extended family or group of friends. Positioned just around the corner from the Killy Pub, and set back a street from the highway, the location is quiet and convenient.
From the balcony and main bedroom on the top floor, you can watch the sun setting over the famous cliffs.
The house living areas (upstairs and downstairs) are comfortable and everything that was needed was provided.
The communication with Sue was excellent and she was very responsive.
I can’t wait to stay again, just not sure who I’ll take with me… don’t want too many people finding out about the gem that is Kilkunda, and the Whispering Sands.
Thanks again Sue.

Great location
Location was great with beach just over the road (a short stroll); however beach not safe for swimming, more so for adventuring with beautiful rock pools & building sandcastles.
Wonthaggi being only a short 10 mins drive was handy to stock up on supplies (major supermarkets/Bunnings/Kmart/restaurants & cafes etc).
The mouth of the Powlett River is a 5 min drive which is a perfect spot for kayaking(kids first time - absolutely perfect). Can do kayaking, SUP or just relax in the water. With huge sand dunes as a back drop, it was something magical. Kids enjoyed running up the sand dunes (a boogie board to ride down is a great idea)!
Phillip Island only a 15min drive.
Cape Paterson (for safe swimming) only 25min drive.
The house layout could cater for two families who are comfortable (with eachother) to holiday with bedrooms & bathroom/toilet upstairs and downstairs with tvs, a/c and dining tables and a (small) kitchen (upstairs) to share. Great size garden for kids if having a quiet day at the house.
We enjoyed our stay, spent everyday out adventuring.
She was very helpful and offered a nice surprise of the ability to checkin a lot earlier than usual check in time and upon request happily let us check out later than usual 10am, which we were very grateful for.
Thank You Sue for a wonderful stay 😊

Awesome
Beautiful view of the ocean, the house made us feel even more relaxed.
The communication with owner was fantastic.
They had everything that we needed to cook with even an electric frying pan. We were shocked to find it as not many places have them.
No complaints from us it was an awesome stay and very relaxing.

Short and sweet
We wanted to have a quick break away from the grind and found the Whispering Sands Beach house. This rental ticked all the boxes for us. It was a snug and peaceful house, close to the Kilcunda general store pub, costal walk, the beach and rocks pools. Even though it was almost the middle of winter we were warm and snug as we watched big swells crash on the rocks from our view from the living room. Looking forward to returning for our next break to Whispering Sands Beach house. Thank you for the opportunity Sue!!

Beachside getaway
My kids and I enjoyed our stay here. We thought the location was excellent as it was a short trip to Phillip Island and gave us options of heading down the coast. The property itself was comfortable and could easily accommodate more people and still be comfortable. Would happily stay again.

Breathtaking views!
Spacious and clean house with a billion dollar view of Bass Strait from upstairs. The day we arrived we were impressed by the sparkling expanse of ocean and blue skies before us. When the weather changed, it was lovely to feel safe and snug looking out at the churning ocean and skies in the cold gale force winds, pelting rain and hail. Beautiful. Excellent communication by the host, too.

Great weekend getaway
No surprise when we arrived at TheWhisperingSand Beach House: the property looked exactly the way it was described on the website. Great location, lots of space, close to the Bass Coast / Philip Island and a 1 h 30 drive from Melbourne.
We originally intended to stay just the 4 of us (2 adults + 2 kids of 4 and 1.5yo), but got lucky and friends joined, so, in the end, we were 4 adults + 4 kids. Everything went very well, thanks to Sue's precious advices and responsiveness (and despite the terrible weather we had on that weekend).
Highly recommended!

The first thing we noticed were dirty marks and fingers prints all over the door handle and glass, inside and out. The carpet was un-vacuumed, the glass coffee table was covered in hand prints, and there was dust everywhere. The kitchen was equally filthy. Every surface was in need of a clean, the bench tops, sink, taps, backsplash, dish rack, microwave, cupboard doors and handles. The fridge was dirty and mouldy. Every piece of crockery in the cupboard was dirty, the glasses and mugs chipped and unclean. The cupboard labelled ‘for guest use’ had an open bag of white sugar and an open bag of rice and some random condiments. The bathroom made me want to cry, hand basin unwashed, some very old and very used soap in the dish and not even the poor old mirror seemed worthy of a quick wipe. There was a disgustingly filthy bathmat hanging over the shower door that looked like it hadnt seen the inside of a washing machine this century. Why is it even there if we are required to bring our own towels and linen? Surely there’s not an option to pay extra for that? The shower screen door was filthy, covered in dirty marks and finger prints and the glass was caked in soap scum. And inside the shower, yet another well used cake of old soap. The toilet, there are no words to describe how it felt to check into paid accommodation and find it so lacking in care, that the toilet had not even been cleaned. Onto the bedrooms, again, un-vacuumed, unloved and unclean. When we removed the ‘display linen’ from the beds we found dirt in the bedsheets. Removing someone else’s dirty sheets from the beds was not part of our anticipated holiday experience. I had to wipe the bedhead and side tables whilst making the bed, and the tissue I used showed an age of dust and hair and dirt. The couch has really seen better days, and the cushions looked and felt sticky and grimy. This house has not been cleaned in a very long time. The owner’s assertion that the unclean state could be attributed to a recent clean not done properly, was utterly implausible. This house has not been cleaned in a very long time. Not only is it completely lacking in cleanliness but also void of any kind of care or pride whatsoever. I find it incredibly hard to believe a cleaner attends this property, I suspect the property is cleaned by the outgoing guests and no doubt left in the condition they found it in.
