About this house rental
Big Water Lodge is the perfect gateway to your Lake Gaston experience! As soon as you enter the home, you are greeted with bright, wide open spaces large enough for multiple families or groups to gather and enjoy! Immediately, you will be drawn to the ever-present, majestic main lake views! Slightly above the water line for grand sweeping views from observation areas, kitchen, main living and expansive deck areas and yet you're just a few short steps to the water. The massive party deck over the double boathouse is perfect for sunbathing, card or game play or just relaxing with a cool drink! Because this is main lake, you have a front row seat to swimming, kayaking (5 provided and don't forget to ask about moonlight kayak tours in season!), boating, tubing, etc. Others around the lake will have no problem finding you for an evening get together with friends. The kitchen is large enough to accommodate several bustling cooks without feeling crowded and includes multiple prep areas, sinks and ample counter space. The lakeside master suite showcases panoramic views of the water. Groups of kids can be separated into either of two bunk rooms, making this a perfect location for multiple families. Small children can be easily supervised away from the water at the play gym in the large grassy play area in the front yard. Adults will appreciate that even with a large group, the sleeping and common spaces allow for a feeling of privacy and discretion. Two office areas provide a quiet space for working vacations. Parking is never an issue with a large concrete pad and don't worry about dusty gravel roads, as we are paved all the way from your doorstep to ours! All of our guests are invited to use one of the 5 kayaks provided for exploring the nearby coves or participating in one of the small group outings lead by the local Lake Gaston Outfitters. We do provide a limited supply of life jackets with the kayaks. However, you may want to bring your own life jackets to ensure that "just right" fit for everyone (especially small children!). You are in a prime location on the South side of the lake. Guests coming from the North or South using the I85 corridor will be pleasantly surprised by the accessibility from major metro areas. By water you are just a few minutes to the Eatons Ferry Bridge and the local waterfront restaurants. The local Food Lion in Norlina, NC is only about 20 minutes away as is the other Food Lion at the Eatons Ferry Bridge in Littleton.
If there is a special need you have -- please ask! We are here to assist you in having the time of your life! :)
You'll find the home fully stocked with utensils, pots, pans and about 80% of what most people need. If you need a specialty utensil or tool it might be best to bring it to avoid any hiccups to meal preparation. The management staff can assist with any special requests and is always available to help with whatever you need!
The bathrooms are stocked with courtesy soaps and shampoos designed for quick "off the shelf" use. Each bathroom has a roll of septic-friendly toilet tissue as a starter. Some use more, some use less. You are encouraged to bring whatever you feel you might need beyond the courtesy roll provided.
A few more tid-bits... :)
1. Trained service animals are welcome! Otherwise we have a strict no pets policy. We can help arrange lodging for your pets at a local shelter during your stay if you'd like; just give us a call!
2. The house, like 99% of all lake homes, uses a septic system. This system is a finely balanced biological system. Please help us keep it working flawlessly by flushing only toilet paper. Renters are responsible for any damage caused by misuse.
3. Bow-Riders and deep draft Wake Board boats need to check their Hummingbirds to ensure adequate depth in all coves. Pontoons should have no issues and everyone is welcome to tie off at the dock with rental boats. (make sure to bring your bumpers!)

We chose this home for a mini family reunion with ages 10 months to 70 years old. Everyone was happy with the choice and we had a great time. There were a couple of tweaks that would have been helpful to know but it didn’t detract from our weekend. Kids loved having new to them toys.

Great house, great location. Would love to book the same week again next year. Staff was great, polite and courteous. Came out immediately to fix a broken step to the dock.

We made a last minute trip to Lake Gaston and it was everything we hoped! The house is more than accommodating and had everything we needed; fit 3 adults and 5 children with plenty of space left over…lots of privacy for those that wanted it to include the teens! Games to play at night..massive kitchen! The lake, awesome..the boat house and dock…amazing. Kids had an amazing time. Rented a local boat and had a great time tubing…will certainly come again!

Had many amenities not mentioned, such as high chair, pack and play, hair dryers and toiletries in each bathroom, which was awesome, but would have been nice to know so we didn’t have to pack them! Had trouble logging into the Wi-Fi and team member was helpful when we called.

Nothing short of AMAZING!
The house is beautiful inside and out. It was a little chilly so we didn't get much outside time. My husband and i renewed our vows on the front lawn. My whole family was amazed at how much space we had. It was such a busy week/weekend that we didnt get to really enjoy the house like we wanted so we will definitely return in the spring.
Les, was on top of our every need!

First Lakeside experience
Great location and view.
Property needs some TLC… Especially steps leading down to the dock.
Cleanliness was a major issue… Attention to detail has definitely been ignored

Great Lake House!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The owners were available with any questions that I had and I had a response within a very reasonable amount of time. The house layout was nice and we liked the fact that you can sit on the outside patio and see the dock. The kids really liked the scooters in the garage play area and the 2 offices were so nice for the kids to do virtual school while we were there. The linens came in sealed packages so we were confident that they were cleaned. The outside playground area is only a couple of swings instead of what is shown in the pictures of a full playset equipment. Our kids loved being able to swing in the front yard. Make sure to bring kitchen towels and a sponge to do dishes with you because there wasn't one to use during our stay. You are about 25-30 mins drive from the nearest grocery store so make sure you double check your grocery list before you head out so you are not missing something and having to go back often. We will definitely come back!

Great time at Lake Gaston
Overall good house with Great Lake views . Few maintenance issues. House could have been cleaner... grounds left in coffee pot, trash left in compactor, and old socks under downstairs ottoman. My recommendation would be to swap out queen beds for kings. Only one king bed in house. Spacious kitchen and family room. Kids had a blast with floating pad, nice perk! A lot of stairs, to house but overall great vacation spot.

Lake Gaston first-timers
Loved our location on the lake. Beautiful views. House was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated. Rooms worked perfectly for our group. Kitchen extremely well stocked. Didn’t realize we would be so far from grocery stores or restaurants but we made the best of it. Also WiFi in the area is sparse. If you have to keep in touch with work while away, expect some issues. Satellite TV not good. We had beautiful weather and spent all of our time out on the lake but after dinner when we wanted to put a movie on or watch a show it was difficult to access anything. We brought puzzles and games so TV not needed. 73 steps to the water!! Legs got a good workout. We are now officially “lake people”...may not ever go back to our beach vacations! Would absolutely return to this house!

Beautiful -Well-Appointed Lake House
The house had every amenity that we needed for cooking and having fun in the water. The 72 steps down to the water, made it impossible for elderly relatives to come down to the dock but the rest of us enjoyed the floats, kayaks and lounge chairs as well as the board for jumping off the top dock into the water. Lake Gaston is clean and the water refreshing but not too cold. We thoroughly enjoyed our first time stay at the lake.

Awesome house and property for a large family reunion!
We had family members ranging in age from 7 mos. to 65. The dock and water area were occupied all day long. The attention to areas and playthings for children was so appreciated. Nice playground, plenty of outside toys, and inside play areas. Plenty of kayaks and life jackets available. Lots of space for cooking and dining, and outside seating areas. If we return to Lake Gaston this is the house we want.

Great Lake Gaston!
House was amazing. Great for kids and room to spread out. Was a bit big for our group but it was nice to have the space. The dock was awesome. The jump on the top was great! Water was rough at all times. People drive right in front of the dock all day and look up. It’s definitely one of the prime pieces of real estate on the lake for sure! At the same time it makes it rough and is kind of annoying, but I still think it’s a great property and in a prime area for sure. Dock could use some more cleats and why in the heck is a potted plant bolted into the dock? Weird setup but it worked. We knew it would be choppy but a couple of babz balls and fenders and our Malibu 25 LSV was fine all weekend. Definitely would stay again.

A perfect stay!
The lake house was absolutely stunning. It was very clean and well-equipped with everything you need, including toys and kids books, which we used a lot. The play set came in handy, and the bunk bed room was a huge hit. We hope to make this a yearly trip!
