Beautiful countryside on the doorstep. Great value for the standard of hotel and great breakfast.
More towels required in the bedroom. Not many facilities in the room, such as a small fridge.
4.5
Great location - short drive into town but great to be more in nature! Great shower!! Value for money considering surroundings and location, would stay again šš»
No lift - was explained that itās not possible as a listed building.

Nice location & comfortable, modern room. Nice evening meal
Signage to car park & reception is poor confusing me & other guests.
3.5
The grounds were lovely, lots of walks. Parking is paid u less you stay at property and you get the day parking pass. Room, it was very clean and newly refurbished. There was a portable fan to use on the dresser. Nice biscuits, tea and coffee included in room. Ensuite was modern and refurbished with a walk-in style shower and rain head shower and wand attachment plus shower gels, soaps etc. towels were new and fluffy. Bed linens were lovely and new too. The hanging rack at the end of the bed was a good idea rather than a closet.
The room was very small, but it was a twin as requested. The upper floor rooms are stifling hot, couldnāt get the window open wider. The bathroom shower was very powerful, however if you turned it on too much the water runs right out of the shower stall and all over the bathroom floor to the bedroom door. We had to put towels down at the edge of the shower pan to stop the water flowing out of it. Needs some drain pan adjustment to make the water flow toward the drain or a barrier by the end of the glass panel.
Beds were way to hard, was like lying on a slab of concrete. Housekeeping need to make sure the bed wheel and locks are facing inward, as my toes hit one on the way to the bathroom and cut it open, lucky it isnāt broken!
2.5
Fantastic location, good bar and restaurant, friendly and helpful staff, room was clean and tidy
Room was small in comparison to say a Premier Inn room. Walls and ceiling paper thin, you can hear every cough, fart and toilet flush and every door bang when people go in and out of their room.

A quiet gem. Surrounded by lovely parkland, very peaceful.
Food is excellent, beverages to match.
Every member of staff was lovely.
Nothing, sad to leave.

Loved the location and the decor, the rooms were clean with good comfortable beds and quality bedding.
It would have been good to open the windows as the rooms are very hot,
It could do with a better fan in the bathroom as it can not cope with the steam.
3.0
It was nice and pleasant.
Bin in room 203 was not emptied from previous person. I was a bit disappointed.
3.5
Location was perfect for our needs. Staff were very accommodating and kind. Particulr mention to Hazel who served us breakfast each morning. She is a real asset to the hotel. We had a meal on the first evening which was delicious. The lads behind the bar were very kind too.
The hotel has only just reopened after a refurbishment. Some of the facilities were not working. So, for example the tvs did not work. I found it difficult to access WiFi. However, for us, this did not really affect our stay.
3.5
nice country setting
nice surroundings, but hotel was modern and lack warmth.

Amazing grounds to walk round, very comfortable and recently done to a high standard.
Rooms were a little small and weren't in the main house (as stated), non cooked breakfast was limited

If you remember that this is really a conference centre rather than a hotel, it's fine. The rooms are fairly small and lack some amenities you might expect (bedside lamp?) and the tiling and paintwork is not always totally professional, but there's perfect comfort, good wifi and excellent TV, a fabulous outlook from the window, and a really tremendous breakfast in the morning. The quality and variety of it took us by surprise. The staff were unfailingly helpful and friendly. We will certainly revisit whenever we have the opportunity.
Because the guest accommodation is just one thing they do (alongside hosting events, running the house and museum, operating a cafe, etc.) it isn't quite as slick an operation as a commercial hotel chain might offer. But having stayed in several of the chain hotels not too far away, and paid inflated prices for less convenience and comfort, I think Lydiard compares favourably with anything else in West Swindon - especially for price.

Food was excellent
Building was cold

A good breakfast, value for the money.
Room was dated and tired, in need of updating. However, I believe that a program of refurbishment is underway and hopefully if I stay there again I'll get an updated room.

Stunning location, but hotel very basic no frills. Food average. Staff lovely.
No bedside table, poor shower. Room very small.

Being in the park, heard owls and the church bell's which was lovely
Needs work to bring it into the 21st century

Great value and location
Looking a bit tired and in need of TLC! Lack of plugs and no bedside lamp!!
3.5
Very basic but clean room. Small but comfy bed. I traveled as a single traveler and would have been a tight squeeze for 2! Good stock of tea and coffee. Lovely location to be able to go for a walk in the park. Relatively quiet.
No bedside cabinets which was actually a bit inconvenient - nowhere to put my mug! Small room and no chair for clothes either - just basic. I would book again, however, as although basic, it was clean!

Being in the park
Friendly staff
Lots of updating to be done, once all complete it will be super.

Quiet and comfortable
Very small room. Only 1 set of towels supplied

The lady at the reception Sandra was very friendly and helpful. The area surrounding the hotel is beautiful with a lake, church and scenic walks. Very peaceful in the morning. Tea, coffee facilities provided in the room was nice.
The bed was too small for two people. A chair should be made available instead of a stool to sit at the desk and work. Water stains in commode should be cleaned off. The room size overall was small.

very friendly will go again.
situation in a great area

The location is great - in the centre of a park so no traffic. The room is too small for twin beds, but has them anyway.
Taking into account it's budget accommodation, there isn't anything I'd complain about really.

The location in the park was excellent. It was very quiet and peaceful. What a pleasure to wake up and walk thorugh the park. The room was comfortable and basic. There was tea/coffee in the room, wi-fi, and TV.
There was a dinner menu in the bar. During our stay there wasn't a wedding but it may get a bit busier when there is one. Thurday night is bell ringing night, if you want to listen to church bells, as St. Mary's is next door.
There wasn't a hair dryer in the room. Bathroom was adequate but a hair dryer wasn't there.
4.0
Nice location and easy to find. The people were very accommodating and the food was nice too
2.5
Staff friendly breakfast good
Room too small
Reported cleaning problem on Friday but no advance on the removal of item still there when we checked out
Bathroom shelf unable to use everything fell off! Shelf was on a slant
Shower acceptable
1.5
We liked the location.
We couldn't dine there as there was a wedding.
The room was far too small (no room for bedside tables and only one very small chair).
