An outstanding address in Isle of Skye/Portree. Sea view. Brand new guest house. Everything in perfect condition. Murdo is a super nice host with great suggestions about the island. He takes time to listen and advise customers.

The food exceeded our expectations. Murdo and his son Scott are an amazing team of hosts for the guests. It’s a very cozy setting, and very high quality of food. It was like being at a 7 star restaurant.

Everything was superb from the moment we arrive! The food, the hotel itself and both Murdo and Scott are very hospitable and friendly. I love how we don't have to worry about our meals (breakfast and dinner) and we can just chill and relax and enjoy! The food is Michelin star grade and we were grateful how Scott would check and customize them to our preference. The room is spacious, modern, comfortable and the bath tub is huge!! Murdo did a great job in explaining to us how to get around and the places we should visit. Thank you so much ❤️🌈 would definitely be back if i were to visit skye again!

Taransay House is one of the best places I have stayed. Murdo and Scott were amazing hosts - including but not limited to chef, activities suggestor, weathermen…. The room/hotel was a lovely size, the amenities were great (huge bath, separate shower, wonderful linens, king bed, separate seating), very thick walls so very quiet, great views, close to town, food was amazing with Scott planning each day with you
Nothing. It was fantastic.

Exceptional family-owned accommodation, with the attention to detail. We loved every minute of our stay here and would like to thank Murdo and Alison for their hospitality, and Scott for the exceptional cuisine - we had a great dinner experience compared to a Michelin-starred restaurant. Next time when we are back to Portree there is no question for us where to stay :)

Very new home. Extremely clean. Owner on property. Very attentive. Excellent location with parking.
Only one opportunity is lack of air conditioning. Very hot, unusual weather patterns this year. We had fans.

Food was fantastic, super friendly and helpful owner

Very nice facility. Murdo, the owner, was friendly and extremely helpful. He really added a lot of value to the stay. We ate dinner there one night as well and the food was great, and reasonably priced. Overall it was a terrific stay and I would not hesitate to recommend this for anyone staying in Portree.
Not a thing.

Great place with a funky, modern vibe. Rooms large, with great linens and well stocked with fantastic view. The host, Murdo was awesome, so friendly and helpful. The kitchen under Chef Scott was Michelin 3 star in my book - Fabulous food!

A simply wonderful family-run small hotel. Spacious and comfortable rooms, very comfortable bed, lovely big bathroom, everything spotlessly clean.
Outstanding food - the chef is a dream. Fresh produce from the garden cooked with creative perfection.
Murdo was a wonderful host - very friendly and helpful with great tips on how to have the best time in Portree.
Highly recommended!
In all honesty, they were doing everything right in my opinion.

Friendly helpful owner - made us feel like it was our home. Excellent chef used fresh local items and put together a menu based on our preferences. The facilities are new, modern while still very comfortable. Attention to details was evident in the decorations. We were sad to leave.
There was really nothing we did not like. My only suggestion would be to expand the wines available by the glass.

The Host was the best. The house was exceptionally clean, modern and the food was very palatable and creative.

The location and views from the balcony are kickass.
It is a small hotel with only a few rooms, but the overall feel of the hotel was very nice and warm.
The staff was also very sweet and helpful.
We stayed on the ground floor room and the room as well as bathroom were very spacious.
Walking distance from the central Portree area.
Highly recommended hotel

Frankly, you would be lucky to score a room in this hotel. It is very small, four rooms only, it is family run. They take exceptional care of you. The hotel is well and very creatively designed, it is exceptionally clean. The attention to detail is unparalleled. The food created by Scott is on par with best restaurants we have eaten in. And every morning you have an opportunity to discuss your dinner with him. Murdo gives excellent advise on what to do on the Isle of Skye. One of the best hotel experiences ever.

Breakfast and dinner was excellent. When you stay here, recommend to book in-house dinner, cooked by Scott, try the venison steak and monk fish, the best we had during our trip in Scotland. The weather changes quickly everyday, and every morning, Murdo provides us with the trip itineraries adjusting with the weather forecast, this help us in maximizing the trip. Thanks Murdo and Scott for your warm hospitality and great food... will recommend your hotel to our friends.

Start to finish an amazing experience! The host welcomes you upon your arrival and goes out of his way to make sure you have everything you need. The small hotel is spotlessly clean and we loved the specialty coffees offered all day. Chef Scott is amazing and does a great job with breakfast but really shines for dinner. Using local ingredientes he creates a dinner to remember. Best scallops we’ve ever eaten!

The warmest of welcomes from the friendliest of hosts backed up by spotless room, outstanding food served at both breakfast and dinner. Room was very comfortable with everything you could possibly want or need.

Lovely new hotel/guest house, recently built or at least completely refurbished. Equipped with love to details and quality. Big summer terrace with great view to the sea for sundowners. Great team with Murdo, Alison and Scott, very friendly and forthcoming. I strongly recommend to try the dinner in the guest house. Finest Scottish cuisine with French inspiration, offered only for guests of the house, private dining room. Best cook we met on our Scotland tour. This place was really (!) outstanding.

The owner greeted us with a dram of whiskey and a wonderful tour of the property. He was incredibly helpful with ideas for the area.
The dinner they provided was exceptional. The chef did an amazing venison and cod dish with perfectly cooked sides. It rivaled any of the meals we have had in Scotland and in our travels internationally. Highly recommend that you book dinner with the hotel. The breakfast was also amazing.
That I had to leave.

Family owned and run. Only 4 rooms so the service is very personal and informal. Owner is very helpful in planing your day and dinner. Gives excellent advices. Welcomes you with very fine local whiskey. Very large room with beautiful view, spotless, excellently maintained. in the room free coffee and snacks. In the lobby freshly ground coffee machine with complimentary snacks. The son of the owner is very talented chef. Breakfast is a-la-carte and superb. Dinner is cooked only for the hotel guests (cannot come from the outside) in a Michelin star level. Location is outside the center of the village so it is very quiet but 10 minutes walk to the center.
there is nothing bad I could think of!

Murdo was wonderful, attentive and beyond helpful when we were there. Beautiful location just walking distance to town. His son, Scott is the incredible chef. Our dinners and breakfast were exceptional. A true culinary delight.
4.9
Friendliness of Murdo, the owner. Superb breakfast. The suite was only two or three years old and very comfortable with a beautiful view of the loch. The dinner (costs extra and is only available to guests) was truly amazing! The scallops were the best we've ever had and another couple at dinner said the same thing. If we go back to Skye, we will definitely stay there again!

Hands down, the best place I stayed on my trip to Scotland. The owners were very gracious and attentive. The inn was virtually new with modern conveniences. Bathroom and shower was exceptionally spacious and equipped with the latest equipment, including heated floors. Easy parking in the Inn's private lot and you're just a 10 minute walk into Portree. Great location on the water with great views from the Inn's deck.
Breakfasts and Dinners were fabulous. Everything is prepared fresh by owner's son, David. Recommend eating dinner at the Inn each night--it's better than any restaurant in Portree. Don't go elsewhere for dinner, as the menu is changed daily. Guests who decided to eat at other restaurants regretted it later.
Nothing to report

FOOD AND HOSTS ARE PHENOMENAL!! The building looks brand new with striking modern decor. The host Munro was exceptionally helpful, showing us routes to drive, recommendations on sites that would be easy to miss and even helping us book a Loch cruise. The online descriptions and photos do not do the place justice, especially the the chef. This was truly a Michelin quality restaurant, the best meal we had in the entire country. The owners’ son Scott is an extremely talented treasure of a chef and his mom’s decorating skill is worthy of another career.
