wonderful hotel with lots of history but please provide real staff not actors next time!!!

Beautiful Hotel with lots of history. excellent restaurants.

it had been rented out to a film company whilst I was staying there which was a bit inconvenient- they got in the way! when I went to speak to the concierge, it was an actor!! I wanted to check out the evening before I left because I had to catch a very early train but I couldn’t because the desks were manned by actors!!!

Other than the AC issues, the only place to stay in Zagreb.

Room excellent, staff responsive and helpful. The food in the restaurants is excellent and the staff in the fancy restaurant are amazing.

Air conditioning is inadequate and always has been - once it is hot outside, the room remains uncomfortably warm. Also, some of the staff in the Bistro were amazingly unpleasant, both to me and to a Croatian friend.

Dissapointing

I have stayed here before however this time was a poor experience. The building's atmosphere and staff are all ok, the comfort, facilities and cleanliness were disappointing. We brought our smell complaint to reception and asked for housekeeping to resolve this issue, unfortunately they didn't. They pulled the corners of the bed and left fresh towels. This is a classic 20 minute per room quick clean. My main complaint was that my bathroom stank really bad of urine, dried not washed only wiped urine smell. The shower had a lot of black mould and hair from the previous guests. Lunch in the bistro was slow and staff where forgetful. No coffee or tea making facilities in the room.

I have stayed in much newer and better priced hotels within Zagreb, explore your options. In a city that offers a lot of accommodation Esplanada needs to up their game and reinvest in the old foundations they're sitting on. They work on quantity instead of quality throughout the year there are always these periods however the hotel's base needs to be much better to allow for this.......

Najbolja lokacija, lijep ambijent i blagdanski ugodjaj, krevet udoban, čisto. Super osoblje, poslali su nam rodjendanski poklon u sobu. :)

Gužva na doručku, dosta dugo smo čekali stol. Jaja sa a la cart menua nedovoljno kuhana.

The room was pleasant and clean. The staff were helpfull and extremely pleasant.

The facial tissues in the bathroom were like sand paper and the hand soap provided was like washing with wax. There was insufficient bathroom products provide for two guests. It would have been nice to have had a choice of teas as we don't drink coffee.

Hotel in the heart of Zagreb’s vibe since the 1920s.

A high quality hotel, with lots of charm and a rich history Close to the center. Good breakfast.

The two single beds even though we are a couple and the reservation was specially made for a king size bed. Not possible to take a shower in the morning, cold water and green color. However, it is specified that the water is drinkable. The lack of responsiveness and communication with the staff.

Fantastic hotel in a great location :)

Where to begin, once we stepped foot into the hotel we fell in love with the decor and architecture of the hotel and the local area. The staff were friendly, and attentive. All staff members spoke English so that was helpful. The hotel is in a good location to the town and other attractions, whether you would be travelling by car or walking it was pretty simple to navigate once you became familiar with your surroundings. Although, we enjoyed walking to see what Zagreb, Croatia was all about. Our room was a good size. It had such a brilliant view, and during our stay we had great weather which made it all the better too! The breakfast was great, lots of options from the buffet to the menu. As mentioned, the staff were incredibly accommodating on each request we had too, so thank you :). My friend and I drank at the hotel bar, and we were served with lovely cocktails. On our last evening we dined at the Zinfandel Restaurant (the restaurant in the hotel) and the food was phenomenal. The atmosphere and the service was just as impeccable as the food - we could not compliment it enough we had to pass our compliments to the chef. All in all, we would most certainly stay here again!

Cleaners could do a bit of a better job with dusting certain areas in the room and providing toiletries as we did not have anything for just one of the days we had stayed (it did not bother us as we did not mention it to the front desk, but we did notice it).

A must stay when visiting Zagreb!!

This hotel was absolutely beautiful! The staff was very friendly and so helpful! We had just landed from our flight and were feeling a bit jet lagged but from the moment we arrived, they all gave us such a warm welcome and took care of everything! They helped us make dinner reservations at the most delicious local restaurant, brought all of our bags to our room, and gave us suggestions for ways to walk around the city and maximize our visit. Our hotel room was immaculate, large, and incredibly comfortable - especially the bedding! The location of the hotel is perfect - it is located near the city parks and only a few minutes walk from the old town. We absolutely loved this city and very much enjoyed our stay - we can't wait to return!

IT WAS WONDERFUL BEFORE GAME OF THRONES NOW ITS JUST TOO EXPENSIVE

BREAKFAST MORE OR LESS OK TERRANCE FOR BRAKFAST BEAUTIFUL. VIEW AND LOCATION BERY GOOD, STAFF OK. ROOMS TOO SMALL BADLY DSSIGND AND OLD FASHINONED, BAD DISTRIBUTION DID NOT EVEN FIT 2 SUITCAESES IN RACKS IN THE ROOM EXCESSIVELY EXPENSIVE , DEFINITELY NOT WORTH SUCH HIGH PRICES FOR EVERYTHING: WATER, FOOD, ETC EVERYBODY WANTS TO PROFFIT FROM TOURIST,,,,,, I HAVE STAYED HERE MANY TIME, THIS ONE WAS BAD AND I WILL TRY NO T TO RETURN I EVEN HAD TO INSIST TO BOOKING YO GET MY INVOICE THEY CHARGED IN ADVANCE.

it was worth it.

Everything. the staff went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. we contemplated spending an extra night and the manager was willing to give us the room at the same rate we got it for months ago even though the price was 50% up. the hotel is beautiful, nice location, breakfast on point.

our room was right by the elevator and we had a toddler. once we asked that the room he changed, the manager quickly helped by not changing our room but giving us a bigger room. so not so much of an issue.

Interesting , prices rather high

Lovely old place but little tired, needs sprucing up There was a roof leak on the six floor The window frames in our room were in poor state wood rotting! The doors and skirting boards worn ( paint peeling) Break fast should be included in the price of the room!

Nice property but can be noisy and inhospitable at times

It is a lovely old hotel with an old world charm. The staff in the Le Bistro Restaurant were quite nice and very helpful with explanations on the menu items. Good location.

A little pretentious for the leisure traveler. I was treated particularly poorly in the lounge. The hotel needs to up its game on treating all guests with respect and complete courtesy and stop with the overly arrogant 18th Century attitudes.

The staff were exceptionally responsive and professional. The. bed, pillows, and bedding was fine quality and comfortable. I would definitely stay at the Esplanade again. Really enjoyed my stay.
