Nice bungalow - perfect to visit Uxmala and the Puuc road.
Good location 15 minutes from Uxmal - allowing us to easily be there at opening time. We had a nice, large bungalow. It was very quiet, low season (we stayed in June) - we were the only customers. Nice swimming pool. There is a restaurant on site.
Value : expensive for what it is - same for the restaurant.

Great stop and go
We stayed at the Pickled Onion one night on our journey from Uxmal to Xpujil. There is not much to chose from in this area and the Pickled Onion is a fine choice (maybe the best). First of all, the place is run by Valerie, British born / Canadian raised / Mexican adopted lady who gives this place a soul. She has a great story, and she is a lovely entertainer. On leaving we felt a connection with the place just because of her presence. We were accommodated in one of the bungalows, the room is very spacious, provided with fridge, air conditioning AND a ceiling mounted fan, and a comfortable bed. The bathroom had all you would need, including a hot well functioning shower. The wifi was working perfectly, even in our the room, which is quite detaiched from the main building. Parking is at the property, and it is secured There is no much in the area, so the fact the the Pickled Onion has a restaurant it is definitly a plus. We stayed here for our dinner and although it will not win a Michelin star it was ok and the staff was friendly and attentive
Cash is the only method of payment, so this is something to be aware. The hotel lets you know this from the start and there is no ambiguity about it, so there are no excuses if you are not prepared for it. I understand this is a conscious choice to keep the cost down, however, as a traveller that would like to avoid to carry to much cash with me when I am abroad, I would prefer if there was a choice to pay by card. Maybe something for the hotel to think about for the future. Our bungalow had the roof made of leaves and straws. These were not just decorative but formed the actual roof and were visible from inside the room. Although it gives the place a lot of carachter and it is nice to look at, a couple of issue needs to be considered: it can bring quite a bit of dust and when you run the fan full speed you can definitely feel that. In addition to that, insects and small animals can enter the room. So we had a gecko running around our walls, and god knows who else could have been hiding in those leaves! We were fine in our stay but it could not be for everyone.

We had a great 2 day stopover, excellent for Uxmal and the routa Puuc
Our accommodation was Traditional Mayan hut, with thatched type roof, a unique experience. Fairly basic, but very comfortable with air conditioning and a ceiling fan. Nice swimming pool and a very good onsite restaurant. Breakfast was superb. Thank you to all the staff.

Superb
Beautiful hotel. Looks like a little paradise in the jungle even in the dry season. The food at the restaurant and for breakfast was good. The room was very nice and included a hammock.
The only thing I didn't like was the amount of bugs in the area but since it is in the jungle I wasn't surprised nor is it the fault of the hotel.

We loved this place. It is exactly what it says it is.
Breakfast was great and it gave an opportunity to chat with Valerie and other guests. Food was good as was the coffee. Pool was a life saver after ruin touring in hot weather. Dinners were good. A nice relaxing place.
Nothing not to like.
