Lovely ladies. Will be back soon. Breakfast was amazing and made me feel welcome

I have stayed in this hotel multiple times and I am booked in again for next week. The room is comfortable and has facilities for making a drink and came with an en-suite. The staff are always friendly and welcoming.
Nothing at all.

I stayed in a twin room this time and it was lovely. Very clean and comfortable, spacious and the ensuite was lovely and a decent size so you don't feel squished into a small room. House keeping was efficient and the staff are amazing.
absolutely nothing.

Stay here a few times a year. It is an absolute gem. The staff are lovely and friendly. The breakfast is great and they are happy to accommodate changes (I can't have anything tomato based). The room is always clean and comfortable, perfect for Solo traveling.

The room was lovely, comfortable and clean. The staff were welcoming and attentive. The breakfast was amazing and cooked to my requirements. Total value for money.
My only nit pick was that the walls are quite thin where the ensuite bathrooms are and during the night I could hear the person in the room next door using their facilities. Just popped some ear plugs in and went back to sleep.

How friendly and helpful the owners were

Quiet location, on the outskirts of town, safe parking, nice sized rooms all round…spacious.
There was some noise from the next room. However it didn’t bother me in any way.

Originally a large comfortable Victorian house
.Hence was spacious with a good atmosphere. I’m

Excellent breakfast and lovely room

Supper hours are not correct, it says 8:00 and they stopped at 7:15pm. Isolated area and no food served at the local pub on Mon. And Tues. owner should advise clients . Could provide a better map to return and also town has no street parking,
Said above and no fresh fruit for breakfast - bananas or an apple. No soaps for bathing etc.

Vallum house is a reasonably priced guesthouse with evening bar meals (packed lunches were available).
And don't be put off by the use of the word bar. The area was small, very comfortable and an eating establishment, not a rowdy bar.
ALL the staff, from owners to cleaners were helpful, friendly and knowledgable.
There was ample parking, an ensuite shower and loo and use of a bath equipped bathroom if required.
Whilst not our reason for staying, Vallum House is close to Hadrian's wall and about a day's walk from the Western start of the walk along the wall.
Can't think of anything.

Staff very friendly, evening meal and breakfast good. Plenty parking.
Room was a bit cold with heating not coming on till around 6:45am, Green emergency light in room was very bright and kept me awake. I stay in hotels every week in Scotland, Cumbria and north east England and Having just came from a hotel in Darlington where I had a huge room double bed, large tv and huge bathroom with bath and shower with a view that overlooks a golf course for less money per night than Vallum house charge for there small single bed room, I would definitely say the room I had was way over priced at Vallum house. It was ok for one night.

The location was peaceful. The room was quiet. Beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed a good breakfast, including gluten free cereal and toast. The room was clean and attended to daily. The hosts were friendly and helpful.
We had a couple of issues with the shower, however hosts assisted. The room could be a bit cold, but we appreciate it comes with the time of year and age of the property.

Breakfast was fine, but little short on choice
The room was dated but clean, the shower was petite and the shower head loose. The hotel was not very warm

Good location for where I was working/visiting. Decent on-site food and bar. Staff very helpful. Ample parking.
Go for a room with an en-suite, trust me. Some noise from music downstairs until ~ 10 pm when I was after an early night.

Lovely guest house with a really lovely room, comfy and spacious. We had a few drinks in the bar on the first night and the staff were really friendly. Late checkout very much appreciated, so much so we slept through the breakfast. It is a little further out from the city centre than I imagined, but well within walking distance and a very short cab drive.
There was only one thing letting this room down - the shower. It's great that it is private for the room, but the way it's been renovated means if you're more than 5ft tall you are not going to get more than a drizzle over your elbow. The shower head can't be moved, so you have to hold it and move it around your body, which would be fine if there was room to move in the cubicle. I do like my kid-free shower time when I go away, so it was a shame to lose out when the rest of the stay was so relaxing and lovely. Hubby had a bath in the communal area and was pleased with that, said it was nice and big. But if you're pushed for time, like I was, wash before you come!

The breakfast was spot on and plenty of it.
Our room was comfortable but the heating was only on from 4pm until about 11pm and in the morning it did not come on until around 7.45am, which meant we were showering in a very cold bathroom. The shower door was very difficult to close and the seal around it kept on coming out. Also the toilet base was loose and when you wanted to (apologise for this) wipe yourself, the toilet base moved to the left. Other than those few problems, had a wonderful stay and will stay again.

Good location for our trip. Good breakfast. Warm room. Nice and quiet. Excellent bar and beer. Big Tv.

Possibly my second favourite guesthouse (my favourite one is in Inverness). You can grab an evening meal as well as breakfast, so there is no need to go looking for a place to eat in the evening.
If it were a bit closer to the centre of Carlisle it would be perfect. I think it's about 1.5 miles from the centre, which is not hideous and I have walked it in about 20 minutes or so.

It was perfect for me - just needed a clean, quiet bed for a stop on my journey. Owner was marvellous - helpful, friendly, interested - nothing was too much trouble.
There was nothing at all that I had to complain about.

Very nice, clean, comfortable hotel. All staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was plentiful. Thank you
