The staff were absolutely lovely, I got to experience the local sights and the beautiful calm and quiet of the mountains. Recommend to stay during the week, for a very quiet and relaxing time to admire the buildings.
The weekend crowds can be a bit loud.

There is no luxury but this place has a lot of character, even if the architecture has fascistic roots. The silence, the location, ... is amazing.
The meal and service

An amazing place to be at
The hotel/building is interesting
The peace is absolute
Surrounding area is beautiful an perfect for hiking
And the views at the Cross are endless
The rooms may be called simple...but speaking for myself, I went there for something else than the furniture...
I reccommend

The location was brilliant. Exceptional views from bedroom window and free entry to the valley, so a great price. So much to do and explore in the surrounding grounds.
Evenning meal set menu was awful. We would give it 1 out of 10 it was that bad and we are easily pleased. Day time set meal looked good!

Given the beauty of the building and its surroundings, this Guest House is a place not to be missed and offers tremendous value for money.
Pablo and Christina, at reception, were warm, welcoming, and helpful. The kitchen was closing when I arrived but Pablo walked with me to the restaurant and made sure I got a meal. Christina very kindly got me a taxi when I was leaving. Restaurant staff, like Anie, were also kind and helpful.
It is true that the building is in great need of maintenance. Indeed I felt quite nervous as I got closer to the building and could see the problems. However, the parts I used were attractive spaces in good shape. I loved my room - simple, sparking clean, high ceiling, lovely view, bright white bathroom. The restaurant was also beautiful.
The food was OK - I was not familiar with the dishes but they were edible and gave me the necessary energy to enjoy my walks. Breakfast was bread, butter and coffee. The morning coffee with hot milk was very good.
I loved the peace and quiet of the location with glorious views in every direction. Mass in the Basilica was beautiful. I would very happily return and stay the Hospederia again. A big thank you to the Benedictines for an experience I will not forget.
There seems to be almost no sound-proofing. I was woken when people came back from dinner around 11 pm. Also, the light from the hallway filters in all around the door.
I read that dinner was 10 Euro. I paid Euro 20 for lunch. I did not have dinner (which starts around 8:30 or 9 pm). Overall, given that there are no other options around, the price was reasonable.

This place is different. Long corridors link the interior rooms. You really feel that you are in a monastery. There are Chapels for prayer. Rooms are simple but large. Restaurant and ample parking.
The location is spectacular as are the surroundings.

Lot of bugs in the room and all around ( as it was so hot - we had to open the windowas and the bugs and bats were flying on us all night log

The main positive of this accommodation is its location in a beautiful natural environment, impressive views, peace and quiet. The rooms are simple but clean, sufficient for a stay of one or two days.
The beds were rickety, they were wobbling, we had to prop up their individual legs. The rooms don't have air conditioning, so it was very hot.

Such an experience living near the monastery. Very quite. Clean as it good be at the old building. Towels and sheets, bathroom - clean.
Building seems to keep falling apart. Need some management upgrades. TV and better WI-FI would be highly appreciated.

Unique atmosphere, very quiet, great dinner just for 10 eur (booked when checked in). It was possible to leave luggage after check-out to explore the area around. Definitely would stay again.

Location is amazing, nice and quiet and isolated, so does the room, in case of there is not a lof guests.
I liked the simplicity of the rooms as well, its pure and basic, but you have all you need for a good rest and for cleaning your thoughts.
Monk feeling totally:)
If the place is busy, can be a lot of noise from the corridors...
Reception is sometimes slow, or even doesnt do its service.

The beds are a joke. I am 1m76 and my feet where literally out of the bed. The bed matrice has like 20 years; I am not joking. I had to sleep on the floor, literally !
No towels provided. Dinner was terrible. The waiter served me (7) small cold fries, stating that he did not know how to use the microwave. Again, I am Not kidding !!
Bathroom is outside !

We likes the unique Valle de los Caidos could offer. The place is very scenery and european. I and my boyfriend went there on a weekday and it was SO quiet that you can count the people who are checking in in the place which we really like because it feels like we have booked the whole place on ourselves. Jajajajaja. So cool!
Personally, I'm a scardy cat which means I get scared easily. The place is just like in movies- beautiful and scary at the same time...just like what you can see in horror films.
The other think that was not so good for me is that there is no network in the place. Though they have free wifi which is not that strong (but maybe it also because of the location of our room.)

Nothing,
No welcome, barren room, no comforts in room, miss sold on booking. Com. No information on arrival, so cold in public areas, unhelpful staff, I asked if I needed to book a table for dinner they just said yes, when we came down for dinner at 19.00 we were told it was at 20.30, we asked if we could have a glass of wine whilst we waited, we were told to take a seat in a cold corridor, we waited 45 minutes and no one came, too cold to wait any longer so we went to bed with no dinner.
When I complained the guy said well it's not really a hotel!! Well they should not sell it on booking. Com hotels.
Not suitable for disabled people, To long a walk from the car park, we left in the dark and there is no lighting, was very difficult getting my husband to the car, har to find. They don't tell you that you have to drive through a cemetery and then 6km further, the sat Nav only takes you to the cemetery and there is nothing to direct You to the destination.
This place should be advertised as a religious retreat as that's what it is, not a hotel, it offers no comforts to a weary traveler, photographs on booking. Com very misleading.
Booked a superior room and got a monks cell to sleep in. Bathroom was horrible, damp patches on walls in bedroom, nothing but a Bible and a crucifix, if this is not a religious retreat then I don't know what is, we paid good money for a terrible overnight stay, we got up early and left with no dinner or breakfast, not good on a long journey.

Beautiful location on a quiet mountaintop covered in snow, absolutely magical. The staff were extremely kind and helpful and even brought us an extra heater for the room as it was cold outside. Highly recommend!
The rooms are quite basic but that was in line with what we expected, the shower was great, good water pressure and super clean.

Set in a beautiful, quiet location with fabulous views. It is situated in a very secure area. The staff was friendly and helpful. The building is very atmospheric and strolling through the corridors you can visit the chapel, library, auditorium etc and take a seat on one of many pairs of stately looking armchairs. We slept very well in the comfortable bed. There were shutters to maintain darkness and it was so remote there were no noises outside and the other guests were very respectful of the silence. The shower was powerful. The furniture was sturdy. Dinner and breakfast were served in a refectory style room and were very reasonably priced and incredibly tasty.
It was a little difficult to get in touch concerning our arrival as there didn't seem to be many staff working. Some parts of the building and room were in need of some attention as there were damp spots but it is an incredibly old building and this (almost) added to the charm. No hairdryer.

Great place! Awesome views, silence and peace in the air. Hotel has its unique atmosphere. It's style is according to the best standard - modest but tasty. You can feel as in good old Europe - beauty in the simplest things. Unforgettable stay - recommend it 100%!
